On a random note: I strongly disagree with playing Lay on Hands when you did. You didn't really need the lifegain, and you already had plenty of cards in your hand. Getting more stuff on the board (what are you worried about? Consecrate? With all the buffs, who cares!) and putting pressure on your opponent is usually the stronger play.

If he didn't have avenging and a weapon I would not have done it but I knew I could clear most plays he had and generate value. It was basically a this is the best time to play this card even if it's not the best play.

I think what's even more frustrating in arena than not being offered the great, staple cards, is being offered three good cards in the same choice after three or four straight groups of garbage. I had to pick between

Small-time Buccaneer, Alarm-o-bot, Demented Frostcaller
Shatter, Stonetusk Boar, Shieldbearer
Grimscale Oracle, Netherspite Historian, Backstreet Leper
Tar Creeper, Arcanologist, Medivhs Valet (two secrets)

Hearthstone trolling me, at least give me a vanilla 2/3 to pick or something...

I decided early on that Arena wasn't my bag, but with the rewards and free run this week I'm going to have to jump back in. Logged in to find I drafted a deck in December 2014, which I'll finally be trying out for the first time tonight.

According to Tempostorm, the three standard decks I play, play being the wrong word really because I'm barely playing standard, are all tier 3. Then again, I don't know how up to date the page I'm looking at is because it says Quest Rogue is still tier 1.

Just a question, how many quests does everyone know the actual name of? I know most of the rewards, all but Priest and Druid, but only two quests. I play Exodia and can't think of the name, and I play Quest Priest and can't name either half of that card without looking it up. Something about Hope. I just kind of refer to all of them as Class X Quest.

In other news, I took Warrior for my free arena for funsies. Boy was my opponent not expecting turn 3 Nerubian Prophet, turn 4 Blackwater Pirate(lol) into turn 5 Gorehowl.

Played four games of my free arena run today. Against four Hunters. Went first each game. All four played Alley Cat, Houndmaster, and Explosive Trap. All four of them played Explosive Trap at bad times and got pretty much no benefit out of it. Won all four.

I checked after each game, and surprisingly none of them were against the same player.

Got a seven-win quest yesterday so I decided to see how quickly I could get them in the brawl. Made it to four before I had to log out. Log in today and of course I get a five brawl wins quest. At least I didn't do all seven yet!

I think I've figured out the dynamics of this newbie arena. It's smooth sailing until you hit 5-0 or 6-0, and then there aren't any newbs left. It's only 6-0+ mages and all the garbage that entails.

Since they're so devoted to making discardlock work maybe they'll just force the archetype (similar to what they did for taunt warrior). I'm thinking a 2 mana hero card with a persistent hero power that you instantly get a new version of every card you discard.

Yeah it really wouldn't surprise me if it is just summoning a water elemental or something similar.

Control Mage now might be able to beat those darn Priests and 50 armor warriors

I just played a combination of newbie and 6-0 garbage Mage deck. It had to be someone on the free arena run because an experienced player should have had no trouble wiping me in this game. He had all of the cards below, all in his deck, no glyphs or tomes or any other kind of discovered cards.

Blizzard x3
Flamestrike x3
Firelands x2
Meteor
Frostbolt x3
Volcanic Potion

He lost to my Mage with a single Blizzard and Frostbolt and no other great Mage spells. Without the free run players there's no way this deck would be 7-0 right now.

Holy shit the level of player in Arena is straight garbage right now. Just had a guy play around noble sacrifice when my board was full and then he played a bittertide hydra the turn AFTER I played stand against darkness. Thanks for the free 15 damage and lethal I guess.

Alexstraza, Elise, or Hemet in arena?

IMO they are pretty close. If you already have big bodies alex is not needed. Elise is the only one of those you can play whenever you want even if her impact is probably lower so I'd say shes the safe pick. But Hemet basically allows you to win top deck wars if you are a slower deck.
