Unfortunately, I think Kaoh Rong did everything physically possible to be good. Michele won and isn't that interesting of a personality, which colors the edit in a way that hurts the season JUST a little bit. Like, if the edit stayed EXACTLY the same, but Aubry won in a 4-3 vote, then yeah, amazing season.

Honestly? Yes. SJDS is great in terms of characters and if you're a fan of gameplay, it has plenty of that without being overbearing and making the season a strategy-fest. But Kaoh Rong could've been the second coming of Pearl Islands. It has clearly-defined heroes and utterly scumbaggy villains. Plenty of good strategy and shocking blindsides, plus a TON of character scenes in large part because of how many medevacs prevented strategy from getting overly complicated.

Actually I never really thought about it but Pearl Islands is definitely a good comparable season to Kaoh-Rong. Kaoh-Rong obviously being the diet version but still.

Cagayan is my third favorite season of all time and really part of me would love to see it take my #1 spot someday. Such a great season from beginning to end.

I sort of get people's like for Cagayan, but to me it just feels like "a bunch of random stuff that happens". In my opinion,SJDS is more enjoyable for being much more of a complete and cohesive story.

Genius 2 Episide 2 update

None of the new players have really stood out yet. Well, Hongchul has, but he's been a bit much. I think he could probably afford to tone it down a notch or two.

It is interesting to see how different this feels from Season 1 because everyone knows what's going on now. It's less innocent but I'm not sure if I like that yet. The games have been good so far, though.

What is the premise of The Genius?

Structurally it's similar to most reality shows. 13 people, one gets eliminated each week until one person is left.

Each week they play two 'games' - a main match to get a winner (who gets immunity) and a loser (who choses a non-immune person to play the in the death match). The death match is a 1v1 game to determine who goes home, but there is usually influence exerted by the remaining players on the results.

All the games are extremely logic-based compared to stuff you see on Survivor or BB. It's probably more akin to The Mole if anything, just without a mole.

If that's what Ghost Island is going to be on 36 -- where players who get voted out just sit around until the merge/Day 37, I'm highly skeptical of what this brings. It's a lot like the Outcasts, but I guess everyone already knows about the twist. And it could extend to Day 37 -- yikes.

it doesn't really make sense with new players. the audience wouldn't have much of a connection with the ghost island people, and the players wouldn't have much basis for replacing their own tribes.

If a second person were to come back on Day 37, as suggested above, then that would imply the people who were voted out when the Jury phase would start, would stay on Ghost Island with the others.

It doesn't imply that. There's a jury at Ponderosa and a grouping at Ghost Island. Being at GI doesn't mean you make the jury.

Either way, gotta be fan fiction.

Man, the last ~15 minutes of that episode were something else. BETRAYALTON.

Halfway through the season now and I'm still not really super invested in anyone other than Sangmin and Jinho, which is kind of a shame. I'm unable to tell if that's just because those two are there or the S2 cast in general isn't really that interesting.

Of the remaining players: (Sangmin > Jinho) > Hongchul > Yooyoung > Junghyun > Jiwon > Yohwan
