First test is May 11th. I don't think it's possible to get enough Knowledge to get 1st on the first exam, you might need to be as high as Rank 4 by then.

I would assume that is a NG+ thing like dodging the chalk.

If you have rank 2 knowledge on the first exam you get the charm bonus from above average performance and that is what you should aim for.

Sure.

Fortune link "gameplay spoilers":

Once you unlock Fortune and have the Luck Reading you can do some silly stuff. Provided it's not raining, go to Shinjuku and see Chihaya (she's there days too, and optimally you want to see her then, because the effect lasts the entire day.) Pay 5000 for the fortune and pick the stat.

I haven't exhaustively tested this, but I believe how it works is that any increase that would be +1 will become a +2.

I know it works on the diner if you apply it towards the "other stat" you pick. So if you order coffee at the diner you get 2 Knowledge (or 3 if rain) + 2 Guts. The stat drink on Sundays becomes a +2 towards whatever the stat is. Star S-Link gives 2 Knowledge instead of +1 on visits that increase knowledge. Even the occasional quiz you can see on TV at Leblanc becomes a +2 gain if you have the Knowledge boost up.

I don't believe it works if the boost is a +2 (or +3) boost. For instance, Hanged Man still only gives +2 Proficiency with the buff, instead of becoming +3.

And like I mentioned, it works the entire day. So you could pick up the buff in the day for Guts, and then spend both day and night at the diner and pick up +2 Guts on both visits.

One thing I haven't checked is switching the buff on the same day. So, like taking it for Guts for the diner in the day, then switching it to Kindness for the diner at night. I suspect it'd work since Chihaya lets you do it (as opposed to Affinity Reading which she stops you and says it's once a day)

I had a thought about the Metaverse. Early on Ryuji mentions their phones having no service in the Metaverse. Futaba brings her laptop into it though as evidenced by the safe room parts. Wouldn't she have no internet and basically no reason to even bring it to begin with? I mean I know support wise she's supposed to like be hacking stuff, but unless her Persona magically powers her laptop too it doesn't really seem like it would make any sense to bring it

Unsurprisingly there are things that can be done on a laptop without internet.

Also it bugs me when she is talking during battle and has her glasses on instead. She's the only one whose portrait doesn't match her talking to the group bubble thing

When she does her buffs during battles she has her glasses on. I guess she takes off the ridiculous goggles while she's inside her persona?

Possibly, but it bugs my OCD a little. Like if they wanted to show more of her eyes and face just make her Persona mask different?

It's really starting to bug me how much this game is railroading me. It's filled up like 90% of my recent days with mandatory stuff that cuts out both my possible day activities and night activities. I'm only 1.5 bosses in though. Does it get better about this?

Yes, this annoyed me early game as well but then there is a stretch that is basically "enjoy your month."

That's a pretty big problem for me. It would sting less if Morgana didn't keep yelling at me to go to bed when I obviously have free time to do something at night. At the moment I'm definitely enjoying it less than 3/4 because of that but the game has an incredible presentation so that'll hopefully make up for it once I get more used to the railroading.

Pretty sure Fortune's Luck Reading actually does give you the stat boost no matter what, it just doesn't always show up in the number of notes since that's not a 1 to 1 representation of the actual points. (I remember reading that the bonus is equal to half the regular notes rounded down, and that e.g., a 2-note activity is worth 3 or 4 actual points, so with the reading it'd be 4 or 6, but idk how accurate that is.) Also I didn't think you could get two Luck Readings in one day, but maybe I'm just misrembering that part? I know you can get both a Luck and an Affinity reading in the same day, at least

In case you don't know, on the day you send the Calling Card, Morgana prevents you from doing most things... but not making coffee/curry or making infiltration tools so you can at least do something those nights.

otherwise yes, you get annoyingly boxed into the Leblanc attic a lot.

Overwrites the old one. You can check which one is active by going into the confidant menu and selecting Fortune. I'm speculating this works because it would seem a bit cruel for the game to notice what you're doing and remove points already obtained. ...Unless it doesn't lock in until it works on something? Like I said, I never actually tested this beyond seeing that you can ask for one stat and then pay again for another (and seeing that it overwrites the first in the menu)

Yes even then, though that can be rather irritating.

For the record I would rather they didn't localize it in most instances considering the game takes place in Japan. I guess they could change it to some general knowledge thing and that might be fine, but it would be weird to hear them talking about like American or European folklore I think.

For the Japan-only ones, usually Morgana helps you out and they give you a LOT of clues. Sometimes you can't even pick the wrong answer.

I get why they didn't localize these though because almost all of them are thematically tied into the story. But they do try to help you, and I haven't really had any trouble with Japan-only questions.

The hard ones are the raw trivia ones that you just have to know, like who someone is on an arcana card or something.

I think I would like this aspect more if every time it happened I didn't have to listen to Morgana be all like HEY DID YOU NOTICE THAT'S EXACTLY LIKE US WOW.

I'm able to separate Morgana the character from Morgana the pseudo-inner-monologue in my head, but wow I can see why people get pissed off at the latter.

2nd post because typing that above made me think of something potentially really cool if it turns out to be the case (which probably isn't likely but whatever), but I didn't want it in the same post as the tongue-in-cheek response above.

...hang on a second. (Theorizing for later in the game. I'll spoiler mark it though in case someone doesn't want to read it. I'm in mid-July for the record, so that's what this is based on.) I wonder if Morgana is literally the protagonist's inner thoughts or like a split personality or something. (I'm thinking something like Pharos from P3 for the record) I don't know that anything significantly points to this, but I do believe it's logically and thematically consistent with everything we know about Morgana's character. Things could get interesting if this turns out to be the case, though admittedly I think things will get interesting with Morgana no matter what his deal is.

Oh it does work in the velvet room. Let's see..... 29 is the average level on 7/26?? That can't be right, my characters are level 34 right now after just finishing up one run in the 4th Palace. I guess more people take going through the palaces more leisurely than I expected. Which means I won't get an accurate appraisal of where my level should be until the deadline is closer I imagine.

I think I was somewhere around 32-34 during the early parts of 4th palace but when most of the monsters are like 24-26 it's probably safe to say I was overleveled
