Also really the Fuuka ranking is the only bit of Ange's ranking that is suspect. Otherwise it's great.

i've avoided all these topics out of fear of spoilers, but now that i've beaten the game after 110 hours, time for me to serve up these extremely hot takes with zero reflection and the most minimal influence from the community (literally finished the game at 3am and went to sleep right after)

makoto the best i can now say yasssss queen without a hint of irony

ann had a promising start but man did she get pushed aside halfway through

y'all need to lay off ryuji he might be the realest character in the main cast. tarukaja and charge made him essential in wiping off chunks of health of bosses and strong enemies in the very late game.

also lay off mishima what a lovable loser he is and i wouldn't be surprised if a good deal of haters see too much of themselves in him

haru is a good girl that i somehow managed to max her s link almost immediately. her archetype is rankling, but she rose above that with her interesting confidant arc. those veggies are great, too. also goddamn she was right there with ryuji in destroying bosses in the final couple of runs with her gun skills.

i really wish i had maxed out yusuke's s link because what a goofy bastard he turned out to be. he was also my biggest damage dealer for most of the mid-game, with mind slice as my go-to crowd control for enemies i didn't have the right spells for.

i also wish i could have spent more time with futaba, but she's cool and wacky. always appreciated her active support in battle.

morgana is all over the place for me. i think in the end i like him well enough, but even though i'm not that big a fan of aigis or teddie, they're more fully formed characters and just more memorable.

kawakami and takemi are great.

feel genuinely bad that i maxed out guts too late to see the final parts of iwai's story, especially after leaving it on that note and what he says to you when you say goodbye to him. untouchable's music is probably top 3 for me, too! didn't think that would be the case with how weird it starts, but i guess that's part of its charm.

that first skill you get from the tower arcana is p good, but did anybody here actually spend time with that link afterwards on their first playthrough?

main battle music for 3 and 4 are amazing, but man i think 5 might be my favorite now,

palace rankings - 6 > 7 > 2 > 1 > 4 > 5 > 3

4 is still the best, but the absolutely excellent style of 5, its dungeon crawling actually being good, and all the qol improvements make it better than 3

persona is at its best when tackling its themes through its character interactions (which is why 4 is still tops) and can be at its worst when it tries to take them head on through that tired lens of shounen anime with big words in big scenes. 5 is okay with the former but totally lays bare its juvenile take on ~social issues~, which is a fine take on its own considering the target audience, but personally i am starting to expect more from games when they decide to lean into ~social issues~.

good game that i think i might have stressed myself too much over the last stretch because i need to write a review of sorts for it within the month! beat 3 in 80 and 4 in 90, and i played those in a way more relaxed pace over a handful of months each, while i had to get through this, which happens to be the longest one, in 3 weeks. there were actual points in the final third of the game that i was wishing it'd wrap up soon, and i never felt that for 3 and 4. the clunky writing (hey localization) at times really stretched some scenes too. case in point, all the explanation for the "twist" after palace 6 jesus fucking christ i get it game. so over nerds fighting over the smallest details on how convoluted plots make sense that the game indulging that was the worst.

okay i'm done now i need to get to work.

For 5 I should probably see their Confidants since I only even maxed Makoto and barely got halfway through the others. I doubt any of them would go up because 5's cast as a whole is just incredibly lacking for me. I sorta question if Makoto is even A material or just seems like it because she's hanging out with a bunch of Cs and below.

That would probably help a ton though, it feels like even for the main party a huge chunk of character quality is nestled away in their confidants.

I was doing other stuff instead. I only maxed Makoto, Sojiro and Takemi. Wanted to max Kawakami, but I only got her up to 8 I think. Haru, Ryuji and Yusuke seemed decent for what I got through. Ann I kinda just left at 4 since I never really felt like talking to her over the others I did. I think Futaba is the only one I left at 1 intentionally because I just didn't care to ever talk to her.

Made it to Palace 7 Infiltration (and a few days after)

Gameplay/Time Management related question about Palace 7: Between Morgana and the System Message stressing I spend time with people I'm wondering if completing the Palace causes a timeskip like P4 December. Does it? And if I choose to put it off anyway do I miss anything? (again like how if you put P4 December off to the last two days you missed Christmas Eve scenes)

Not that I *need* the time really. But all things being equal, if I can avoid a timeskip I'd rather do that and just spend the time hanging with the group for more scenes and stuff.

I did the opposite and took care of all the stat grinding first because I didnt know so many Confidants boosted stats thanks to barely doing any

I just followed the guide. Got every stat and confidant maxed. Pretty easy.

For a game that started off really slow--it finished pretty satisfyingly. While you do get your first battle way faster than in Persona 4 -- you don't really gain control until much later. . Still a fantastic game. If they do a Fes/Crimson/Portable or whatever it'll be a pre-order for me for sure. Also think making coffee should give you a point toward Charm. I also think Mementos would have worked better as a night dungeon.

Didn't come close to maxing all the Confidants, but I'm okay with that because I can do that in NG+. (At least once I max Guts and Proficiency)

Is there a database for the level and stats of all the DLC Persona? There's gotta be some late game use. I thought maybe it was just for the unique abilities, but Orpheus can't pass down Cadenza, so....

thank god for the thieves guild since it tipped me off to this fact. i started to wonder why the SQUAD wasn't showing up for s link hangouts anymore while everybody else in the city was still available. looked at the thieves' guild, saw people were hanging out with the rest of the phantom thieves, and just pieced it from there. i wouldn't have been able to max out ann's link and get active support for futaba if i hadn't done that.

I played time management particularly poorly (spent a lot of time messing around with fishing and optional hang outs and stuff, plus I didn't max out Temperance as early as I could because I was unsure if I wanted to harem or pick just one waifu) and still managed to max out everyone but Iwai and Shinza

Not saying its 'super easy' to do with no guide or anything but its pretty undeniable that the game gives you the most leeway of all the games by far.
