I played time management particularly poorly (spent a lot of time messing around with fishing and optional hang outs and stuff, plus I didn't max out Temperance as early as I could because I was unsure if I wanted to harem or pick just one waifu) and still managed to max out everyone but Iwai and Shinza

Not saying its 'super easy' to do with no guide or anything but its pretty undeniable that the game gives you the most leeway of all the games by far.

definitely. like you though, I still had 2 ranks left with Shinya and 3 left for Iwai

Last Surprise is so damn good. Also unless it's on like the actual expensive soundtrack it seems like there were no Lotus Juice tracks aside from DLC remixes/tracks

Did Lotus Juice have anything on Persona 4 that wasn't a remix? I honestly can't remember, but I didn't think so.

Not entirely positive, but I want to say no unless you count the spinoffs and anime.

3 invigorate items in Palace 3, basically can go forever now. But individual battles are still kinda tricky so it doesn't kill all the difficulty like I expected, it just gets rid of the anxiety of having to leave the dungeon when you're spent, which makes it more fun.

Also pressing L1 feels so much like Xenoblade

Finished Palace 6 and got through most of the fallout.

That scene where (11/21 spoilers) Akechi and Shido are standing around recounting their evil plans to no one but themselves felt super awkward.

Considering Akechi is literally Light Yagami and that's how those types gloat about their victory, it fits IMO. Doesn't make it less silly in general but yeah

Of all the JRPG series I've played this one probably has the most hopeless outlook for humanity.

It's a spinoff of a series that inevitably begins with the end of the world (SJ excepted, I guess, but even that's not far off...)

I know, but 3-5 are like the beginning of the "new" Persona to people. I dunno if P1-2 even exist in this same world, but 3-5 definitely do and it feels like one of these groups of Japanese teenagers isn't going to be able to save humanity one of these days

There's a lot I'm actually curious about with 3-5 existing in the same world. The TV world and Metaverse have some similarities to them and it's neat how the P3 cast are the only ones that use their Personas in reality not counting spinoffs

P1 and 2 definitely do exist in the same world and the P2 characters are referenced in P3 on TV etc.

I thought they could only use their personas during the Dark Hour, which is essentially the cognitive world overlapping with the real world, and they had to have special not-gun super science devices to do it?

I thought there was a time or two where Fuuka and somebody else used it during the day, but maybe I'm remembering wrong? At the very least I recall Fuuka being able to sense people in reality and Rise claiming she doesn't have the ability to do that

They're capable of using it outside the Dark Hour, but they don't really seem to be aware of it until Arena.

The Evokers were used because they didn't awaken as Persona users naturally. Has nothing to do with reality or not, and P4 Arena showed that the P3 cast can use their Personas without Evokers if they needed to, it's just not how they're used to doing it so it's harder for them.

And yes Fuuka does have the ability to scan reality, but she can't use her Persona outside of the cognitive world. It's probably theoretically possible for them to do so, but they just don't really have the means or power to. Chidori's persona in 3 manifested itself in reality, for instance (albeit it was going berserk and killing her at the time, but still).

The P1 and P2 casts could use them in reality, so there's probably no real reason that the rest of them can't and its more of a mental block like the P3 cast having to use Evokers. But I don't believe there is ever an example of them doing so.

EDIT: Actually wait I'm sorta wrong, Fuuka scanned the TV world from reality and that's what Rise was surprised about.

So the P3 cast totally did figure out they can do it in reality too.

Wouldn't she need to tap into her Persona's power to use the scanning though? There were a couple times in P3 where Mitsuru asked if Fuuka could sense anything during daytime. It's been a while since I last replayed it so I could be forgetting some stuff, but I do recall it happening during the day at the hospital with Chidori and during the day when Mitsuru was having Fuuka look for a "missing tank" or whatever on Yakushima

Some questions about Knowledge. Early in the game so minimal spoilers please!

1. How often should I be studying? Persona 3/4 have taught me that exams hit you upside the head out of nowhere, but I realized I just beat the first dungeon without ever increasing Knowledge outside of answering in-class questions right. Oops...

2. What are the best ways to gain Knowledge? Apparently rainy days are good for it but I haven't seen one in a while. (Also how do you check what the weather is going to be like later?) I could study at night while it's not raining but it doesn't seem to be efficient.

It'll rain a ton in the summer, don't worry.

I've done pretty well just by studying in the diner when it rains (extra Knowledge plus one other stat of your choice) and just cheating on the school questions.

studying at the diner (when raining preferably) is probably the best way cause you'll also get guts or kindness based on what you get (coffee or steak)

also every now and then there's a TV quiz on the TV at Leblanc that you can get an extra point of knowledge for answering right

Later in the game you can also get Charm at the diner, and I'm guessing the final option becomes available at some point

eh no more than any other stat unless you want one of the ones locked behind it. not sure if you get anything for 1st place on tests except for a trophy

studying at the diner. gives +2 and +1 to guts or charm. costs 700/1100 each time though. gives +3 knowledge if its raining. might want to do more studying when the rainy season comes around

also before the first tests ann/ryuji message you about study sessions which give +3 i think? and some slink points with them

Thanks for the responses guys. Do you know when the first test is and how much Knowledge I need for it? I've made aceing tests a priority ever since Mitsuru in P3 (not sure if it's that necessary in P5).

Yeah, the Shibuya Diner is probably the best way. It's 2 + 1 [Other Stat], which becomes 3 + 1 [Other Stat] when raining. It does cost a little money though, but it's like 1k.

And the occasional book that increases knowledge, of course, but you usually won't want to spend time on that unless you have nothing better to do since you get occasional ways to read without passing time. If you have the spare cash, there's the drink you can buy in the Shibuya underground walkway for 5000 on Sundays. It's +1 to a stat at no time cost, and which stat it is rotates (but you have to buy it to make it rotate to the next one) but that's obviously not a reliable method, but every little bit can help.

There's also a few ways to squeeze a few extra points out of various activities, including knowledge, around mid-game for a price.

First test is May 11th. I don't think it's possible to get enough Knowledge to get 1st on the first exam, you might need to be as high as Rank 4 by then.

I think it's in May? You can check by going to the menu and selecting the calendar and looking for it. Should be a block of days underlined. You can find all tests that way.

I don't think it's plausible to ace that first test. If I had to guess, acing it would require Rank 4 at minimum and I'm not even sure you could get that if you tried.

I think I had rank 3 knowledge for the first tests and it got me above average? You're really not intended to ace all the exams. Don't stress over it.

Some people are saying that the "notes" that appear aren't specific points, they just represent a range of points. So you're still getting a bonus, just not enough to register visually as an extra note. I dunno though.
