I went to a McDonald's and successfully procured food without speaking to a single human being.

The future is pretty rad.

I don't think he's trying to say it was owed to them; it's more just being polite. There's nothing wrong with saying thank you when a worker hands you your food.

Mc D's is already starting delivery service.

Drones are being tested already, and before long food and other items will be delivered by drones.

Internet is becoming more and more common as the method of ordering food.

Combine all that together, along with netflix, hulu, internet, video games etc, and people may never even see each other soon.

You can easily automate cooking/prepping the food btw at a place like Mc D's, and if real people are not showing up to order the food, you'll see that happen super fast (as it's WAY more cost effective).

So, before you know it, you'll place an order online, have it prepared by machines/robots, sent to your home by drone and probably even have the trash picked up by automated trucks.

I love the Mcdonald's Kiosk's. You can use coupons and redeem codes and all that on them too.
And no, it's not killing jobs despite what you all think. They still have to prepare food, clean, and Drive-thru. Working the eat-in till has always been a very small part of working fast food.

They had these here in NYC at various places for a few years now...

And yea, if I spot a ignorant cashier I ordered from before, I usually go straight to the Kiosk...

Plus, the using the Kiosk usually gets my personal order correctly (no cheese or mayo, extra pickles).

While I can see the advantages to this (not having to worry about them putting in your order wrong, or having to wait for an employee to be free to take your order), there's also a pretty big drawback here (having to wait because the person in front of you has no idea what they're doing, which is going to happen far more often with one of these kiosks).

I pay my Comcast bill in person. They have these kiosks that take cash, cards and checks. So many people can't work them, so an employee hovers to help people. For some reason, you can't just pay at the counter. You have to use the kiosks. Electronics are hard...mmkay.

There were four kiosks at the one I went to, and it was around lunchtime so kinda busy, I don't imagine there being too much congestion.

Better idea, let's start trying to rethink how society might work in a world where 99.9% of jobs are done by AI and automation. Alternatively, we can just keep burying our heads in the sand and wait for the extreme civil unrest to occur.

Those of you who don't believe people will stop socializing have not seen the newest generation interacting much, but unless a parent specifically regulates tablet use etc, young kids will freaking play on those things (by themselves) all day, every day, nonstop (or watch youtube videos, play roblox etc) instead of socializing/playing with friends etc.

Not so bad for teenagers+ right now, as they didn't have access to them before school started etc (so they got used to socializing as young children more, but kids around 4-6 right now.....it's almost scary.

This 4 year old girl I watch would not notice if her whole family was abducted by aliens as long as food was around and her tablet never ran out of power.

So basically it's going to be an over glorified vending machine and does anyone know what happens when they fuck up? Your shit out of luck. At least with the human element they can try and fix their mistakes, but something gets jammed, improperly stocked, automation is destroyed.

It would be tons more cost effective and practical to automate management and executive positions. Just some simple data and AI would be able to replicate and replace a top heavy America.
