I read Kimi ni shika Kikoenai. This was great. Had an awesome premise, and was pretty emotional. I think the twist at the end was a little too out of nowhere and predictable, but it wasn't really a major part of the story anyway. Nice read.

oh yeah, some animes I watched
Haikyuu S2 and S3: S2 was quite good. Definitely the best season. I really appreciated how much time they spent off the court developing the characters, and the actual matches were good too. Plus nice music. S3 was not quite as good, since it was all just one game, without much off-court stuff. Plus the game wasn't really better than the best S2 games... Saga of Tanya the Evil slowed down a bit around episodes 8 or 9, but the rest of it was excellent. Tanya's battle with God never ceased to be awesome, and her plans were always super entertaining too. The animation was some of the best in the shows I watched this season, the the character design for Viktoriya was...odd. I guess the main flaw of the show might be the relatively weak characters, but for the most part that doesn't matter since the focus is basically 99% on Tanya, who is a fantastic character. Her and Satania were a great one-two punch for the season. <3 --- All the stars in the sky are waiting for you. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Saiki Kusuo no Psinan/The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. finished. This show was frequently hilarious. Had to stop watching it a few times because I was laughing so hard I got a headache. It's usually not quite on that level, but it's always good. Quite possibly the funniest show from last year? Up there with Bakuon anyway, and sadly better than Gabriel Dropout ended up being. Kinda a shame most of the people around here seemed to ignore it. I think the key to it being so funny (other than good writing and jokes) is how fast the pace is. They adapt like five manga chapters per episode. It's awesome.

I think what helped Saiki compared to something like Gabriel Dropout, is that the extra episodes gave it time to round out the cast. It has a nice collection of characters they can use for specific gags, having a decent amount, means the jokes don't get tired too quickly since you can just rotate around.

Overall I think this was a solid show. As I said before I don't really agree with the sentiment that the ending was bad. The latter half in general was worse than the beginning half, so I do agree there was a quality drop, but I'd still it was about average by the end. The second season of the show was like already confirmed before the first season even began iirc. Like I think it was one of those they were doing both anyways but just not back to back. i wasn't RAWRRAGINGMAD or anything but i still think it's upsetting that something so painfully and offensively generic is considered merely "average" by a lot of people and plays a part in lowering the standard for the medium. Moreover, that you brought up that you gave it the same score as Rakudai Kishi/Chivalry is what really stood out as the "offensive" part when Rakudai is so much better because at least it tries to do things even a fractionally different whereas Asterisk just serves up genericness on a platter and expects the audience to give it a pass because "hey this is all STANDARD in anime". even when both follow the same bare plot lines, Rakudai has details that sets it apart. again, at least a little. ... Okay so now that I've finished Dragon Maid, I'm gonna do the rankings and write-ups for Winter before I pop Persona 5 in. A few things to note, Little Witch Academia will be ranked for Spring when it finishes. Also March Comes in Like a Lion finished this season, so this is where it'll be ranked. And finally, Zestiria isn't finished since the final episode won't be until the end of April, but I doubt it'll change my rankings either way.
7. Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Arc Alright, I'm gonna stop getting excited about theses shounens from years ago that are finally getting sequels. DGM was lame, and this was honestly way worse. Maybe it's due to the fact that I'm older and my tastes changed and whatnot, but I feel like it's mostly to do with the shitty pacing. Like, this entire season was just so damn slow. Felt like everything could be done in less than half the episodes we received. I was so out of it by the end that I probably won't partake in any further sequels. What a disappointment. 6. Masamune's Revenge What a shame! Masamune started out pretty solid. It was a typical romcom setup with more realistic implications (That being the fact that sexual attraction is the primary cause of many romantic pursuits. Not the actual way in which the story is written). Because of that, you get a really vain and unlikeable dude going after a really vain and unlikeable girl, and it felt pretty unique in it's own way. Of course, it just couldn't help itself and immediately falls prey to many of the formulaic tropes that persist in the genre once the 'other girl' shows up. My interest in the show basically dropped off a fucking cliff once we got into the final story arc, 5. Tales of Zestiria the X Season 2 I don't wanna call this one bad, so much as it is not what I was lead to believe. The first season was a pretty faithful adaptation, on top of having some really amazing fight scenes. The story in Zestiria isn't anything to write home about, but it was just so fun to watch! This season changes the story up from the game, focusing more on the two main females, Rose and Alicia. Issue is, they're fucking boring. The action scenes sort of get shoved to the back as well. You get a cool one every now and then, but it spends most of it's time with character interaction. Worst thing about this is how much they snubbed Edna and Lailah. They were the two best characters in the game, and they merely serve as plot devices here. One of the game's best aspects was how much fun the Seraphim were, and that as a whole is pretty much lost in this anime. --- http://i.imgur.com/l7xxLh1.jpg PSN/Steam - RoboQuote ; NNID - TazzyMan ... 4. March Comes in Like a Lion
Another show that started off solid, sputter out around the final fourth of its run. The main appeal to March was that it felt like a pretty relateable character study. Rei was a pretty lonely, depressed guy who had issues coping with such a situation. He played shogi as a profession, but it wasn't a part of what made him who he was. Shogi could be replaced with literally anything else, and we could still relate to the guy, and the stress he feels when trying to be better at his job and make a living off of it. There was also a really good SoL setting with the three sisters Rei would have dinner with. You got to see their lives and problems through Rei's eyes, and it was really nice. Then the show unfortunately becomes more focused on shogi. But it's not bad at first! You get to see these random characters who Rei will face, and learn about their own issues. They're much older and have way more to lose from their failure, so Rei goes through his own inner struggles when it comes to fighting them fairly. It's really nice character building, as Rei continues to grow. Then it just becomes a fucking shogi show. It is about shogi. Rei has big monologues about shogi. Everything on screen is about shogi. God it was so disappointing to see it reduced to this. Maybe the next season will bring back the SoL stuff. That'd be really nice. 3. Kobayashi's Dragon Maid Surprise of the season! Pretty big gap after March. I was pretty ready to drop this after episode 1, but I didn't find it offensively bad, so I figured I'd keep going. Not sure why I didn't drop it at episode 2, since i didn't like that either. Anyway, episode 3 introduced some neat supporting characters, so that gave me enough reason to continue. After that, I liked pretty much every episode! I always have trouble writing about straight comedies, so I'll just leave it at the fact that, even after disliking basically every character at the beginning, they all grow on you. It's a very fun, loveable cast with excellent chemistry. 2. KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! 2 Sequel to KonoSuba. Not much to say. Great show. Highly recommended. 1. Scum's Wish So I imagine a lot of people aren't gonna like this show and how it ended. Hell, I've seen some pretty absurd responses like comparing it to School Days, which is, like, what? I wish I could really say why I thought this was so great without spoiling the ending, but that's basically the reason I put it at #1 and rated it a 9, rather than putting it at 3 and rating it a 7. All the themes and messages it pushes are poignant and beautifully composed, and it really makes the overall show feel so much nicer. It's uncomfortable to watch at times, yeah. But it's not attempting to be a feel-good romance where everything goes the main character's way eventually. I guess all I'm saying is that something isn't bad just because it makes you feel bad or because it doesn't match your head cannon. I basically realized how annoying many viewers' opinions are with Orange last year, and Scum's Wish is only furthering that annoyance. Anyway, watch Scum's Wish.
