Mega Man

The Legacy Collection was on sale and I've never played any of the classic Mega Man games so I decided to try it out.

Coming out of the first game, I can say that I am very bad at Mega Man, and that this game isn't very good. It felt annoying at points just for the sake of being annoying, which got pretty frustrating. I didn't even realize the "pause trick" was a thing until I got to Wily's levels, but I definitely applied it liberally from then on.

The platforming in the ice level was some of the least fun I've had playing games in awhile. I have high hopes for the second game though!

Mega Man 2

This is a significantly better game than the first. The best words to explain how it would be "well made". Everything felt tighter, and the controls seemed like they were much more responsive. I had much less trouble with this game, but I wouldn't say it was strictly easier than the first. There wasn't as many frustrating aspects and so everything felt beatable with the right strategy.

The final three games are actually a single challenge on the tally, so it's still out of 50 and technically it isn't done until the third game is finished. That said, it doesn't really matter! No one would get confused if you switched to /52

Yeah, there are a lot of games that could never be considered beaten even if you put a thousand hours into them (for example, League of Legends). Obviously people can set their own goals for when they consider such games beaten and count them elsewhere, but that challenge is an easy spot to count them too as long as you play for at least three hours

This one was a mixed bag for me. Some parts were fun, but in a lot of moments, the slowdown was so bad it was nearly unplayable. I'll likely finish the final 3 games as well, but seeing that many people have MM3 as the second best game in the series after MM2 doesn't have me very hopeful for the remaining entries.

Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth

Platinum #30! After quickly beating those 6 Mega Man games, I slowed it down with a 60 hour JRPG. Digimon World 1 & 3 are two of my favourite games of all-time, so I was excited to finally get to this game after having it on my backlog for awhile, and it didn't disappoint. It's not in the same league as the two I mentioned, but it's still a great game, and hit the nostalgia notes for me. Turn-based JRPGS are my favourite thing in gaming as well, so I thoroughly enjoyed that part of it too.
