CHAPTER 21

JC was talking to Nio calmly. He had nothing to fear, not even from Niowrath. Nio, however, had something to fear from JC. He was aggressive and angry in the way he acted, and it was starting to get concerning for her.

"Look, Nio, all I want to know is where that damn cat of yours is."
"Well she is the one running this game but I don't know how to get to her."
"...hmm...well, in the last game, the guy running it operated things from a blimp of some kind that was overseeing the whole game. Maybe-"

Pirateking rounded the corner and nearly bumped into them both. He looked at this odd pair, munched his sandwich, and walked away thoughtfully.

Then he realized he needed to kill them, turned around, and hurled the pocket sand at them. Nio and JC raised their respective weapons to block, which pretty much negated the impact of the pocket sand. Pirateking gulped, before running away as quickly as possible. Nio and JC began to give chase, before Nio stopped. "Actually, I'm just going to let Niowrath handle this," she said calmly, and let go of her sharkswordfish. Niowrath growled. "It will be my pleasure," he said in an awesome kind of way before he began to chase down Pirateking. Nio continued her conversation with JC.

Pirateking took a bite of sandwich and spat it at the chasing fish...thing. This delayed Niowrath slightly because of how disgusting it was, and Pirateking dove through the nearest window and, in the house he found himself in, through a door on his left. This took him into a lounge area.

Niowrath hadn't lost him - he was too strong a hunter to lose somebody who was making such an amateurish escape attempt. He heard a breaking window coming from the lounge and surmised that PK was making an escape through there. He chased down his quarry with relish, entering the lounge area quickly.

However it had all been a CLEVER RUSE on PK's part. He was actually hiding next to the door, and used the element of surprise to kick Niowrath as he (...it?) entered the room.

The sharkswordfish was sent skittling along the ground and Pirateking closed in for the kill, drawing his pocket sand.

Suddenly, a portal appeared underneath PK. He had no chance of avoiding it, but managed to throw out his arms to stop himself falling through completely. The other side of the portal just so happened to be attached to the penthouse in one of the city's tallest buildings. Grasping on desperately, by his fingertips, PK tried to haul himself out of this unexpected predicament.

However, his recovery was cut short by a revived Niowrath. "Not so easy to kill me," he said, and stabbed at PK's hands. PK simply couldn't hold on any long and he fell through the portal. This then lead to him falling a further 800-ish ft, before hitting the street with a great SPLAT. He had died, and his head then fell off. It rolled into Maniac's newest firetruck, exploding it.

Wedge, who had shot the portal through the broken window from a house across the street, smirked and walked away.

vcharon lunged with his flag, but eddv was feeling fresh and revitalized. He dodged easily, grabbing the pole and flipping it forward, which flipped eddv forward as a result. eddv used this time to root through his pockets for the lawn darts, and he was satisfied to discover that he still had them.

vcharon had sprung to his feet very quickly. He was angry, but kept his emotions in check. Rather, he adopted a smirk. "that's some supernatural s***, kid. You think you can take me?"

"Well I survived being a duck/phoenix hybrid so I think I can survive some maniacal patriot."
"Fair." vcharon quickly swung the flag again while smoking a cigar he had summoned from nowhere, and eddv only just managed to duck underneath it. eddv continued to dodge vcharon's attacks, and the usually unflappable charon was starting to feel frustrated. So he changed his angle of attack, eschewing the flagpole and leaping straight for eddv.

They brawled in the middle of the street for a while, but the experienced vcharon managed to take advantage and wrap his flag around eddv, smothering the former ducknix slowly choking the life out of him. eddv scrabbled around for the lawndarts as well as for vital parts of his opponent in an attempt to shake him off but nothing could be done - he was being held fast by vcharon.

Suddenly, a voice could be heard. "PFFT. YOU THINK YOU'RE TOUGH? YOU AIN'T SO TOUGH. LOOK AT THESE CALVES!"
It was masterplum's tough beetle, who made a beeline straight for vcharon.
vcharon, despite himself, liked the cut of this beetle's jib. That was one of the reasons he relinquished his hold on eddv, who rolled away, choking and recovering.

"Go, tough beetle. Go!"
vcharon snorted with laughter at the sight of this kid ordering around this awesome beetle. "you should join up with me, man," said vcharon. "We'd make one helluva team." He was relatively blasé about this whole fight, or at least appeared to be as he smoked yet another cigar.
"I don't do teams, I only do FIGHTING. LET'S DO THIS."
The beetle attacked vcharon ruthlessly, heading straight for the testes. vcharon knocked him away with the flagpole and adopted a ready stance. The cigar dropped from his mouth. vcharon had entered serious mode. He was ready to duel with this worthy opponent.

And so they did. Masterplum cheered the beetle on from the sideline as the beetle tried multiple attempts to grip onto vcharon and do lasting damage. However, he was not quite fast enough to get around vcharon's defenses - he was able to repel the beetle's attempt at a potentially lethal vicegrip with the flagpole.

The beetle's latest assault was for the head and vcharon brought the pole straight up, landing a clean blow to the beetle and sending it flying into the sky. It was briefly concussed, but roared "YEAH! YOU'RE A TOUGH GUY, VCHARON! BUT NOT TOUGH ENOUGH FOR MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

The "me" was elongated because it turned into a battle roar mid-word, as the beetle manipulated his own fall to the ground into bullet-like speed, headed right for vcharon's heart. It would no doubt have ripped right through vcharon had it not been for vcharon managing to repel him once again with the flagpole. The beetle flew threw the flag itself, but was struck viciously, and sent flying out of sight.

vcharon sighed. Opponents like that were a rare thing. vcharon looked masterplum up and down and sighed once more, knowing that this kid was nothing like such an opponent. With the beetle gone, vcharon approached Plum at a leisurely pace. "Your beetle had guts," vcharon growled. "Not a bad idea to have him do all the dirty work. Don't like getting your hands dirty?"
Plum's fear was replaced temporarily with anger as he threw a punch at vcharon which had absolutely no effect. vcharon cracked the smallest smile. "Sorry, kid. Except I'm not." He raised his flagpole to plunge into plum's chest.

eddv had recovered and, seeing the man who had almost killed him, he coughed and splutted before taking out a lawndart and throwing it as hard as he could at vcharon's head.

The thrown dart missed, but only because of the sixth sense that vcharon had developed over the years. He ducked it and it hit a passing ExTha in the foot. ExTha yelped in pain and limped away.

eddv knew it would be unwise to stick around right now, and made his escape.

The delay was just enough. vcharon winced in pain as he received a kick to the nuts from a desperate plum. However, this served to make vcharon more angry than annoyed, and plum backed away from him in pure terror.

Fortunately, the beetle had been on a grand trip. It had been hit so hard it literally reached the city limits. Minio hastily blocked off the path of the beetle, throwing up a wall there to stop the contestant, or weapon of contestant, escaping. The beetle crashed into it with huge force, but then bounced back the way it came in a straight line.

Buildings, cars, and trees were sent flying, uprooted by the pure wave of energy created by the speed of the beetle's movement. "ARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGHH PUT EM UP!" roared the beetle. Cavemen from another dimension could hear this scream, but nobody else.

Poor vcharon had no chance.

The beetle hit him square in the head, causing it to explode.

Then it stopped on a dime, and the deafening crescendo of noise and explosions and flying cars ceased instantly. plum hugged the beetle, who simply said "yeah yeah."

Chapter 22

Ayv ran from the demonic, possessed lawgiver. He was being chased through the streets at a great pace, one which was surely impossible to maintan for much longer. He could feel his legs weighing him down, becoming impossible to move. Every step left him screaming in pain but he knew that to stop was to die.

Suddenly he heard a voice chanting at him.

"Ohhhh the running running man
he has no cunning plan
I might have to hand this man a ban
When all the s*** hits the fan."

Ayvuir looked up. NGirl, still wearing her Newcastle shirt, was pointing at him and laughing. "Oh and when I said ban I meant I WOULD BAN YOU FROM LIFE," Ngirl screamed. She thought up another chant hurriedly.

"Ayvuir cannot behave
his mother's vag is like a cave
I'm fairly sure she doesn't shave
ahahaha suck it Ayv"

This enraged Ayvuir so much that he stopped. Think of it is like a reverse effect - if Ayv was angry, he would have ran at ngirl, but since he was already running, he stopped.

The XIII-possessed Lawgiver was not expecting this and crashed into Ayv. It fired randomly and hit ExTha in the arm, which turned the arm into a turkey.

Meanwhile, Ayvuir approached ngirl, katana in hand. Such was his rage at this fellow Newcastle fan that he had forgotten about the Lawgiver, which was temporarily out of action anyway.

In any case, Ayvuir swung the katana at ngirl, who narrowly dodged while continuing to taunt him. The rage Ayvuir felt continued to build up and the swings became more wild and vicious until eventually-

Ngirl kicked him in the shin. Ayv howled in pain, dropping the katana.

Realizing what he had done he scrambled to pick it up but ngirl got there first. The upward swing that followed narrowly missed Ayvuir, who dodged backwards. It sliced at his shirt but not his body.

Now ngirl was the one on the offensive, using the stolen weapon to terrorize Ayv.

To make matters worse, suddenly the lawgiver spluttered back to life and was about to continue to harrass and annoy Ayv - not helpful in times like this - before it was spontaneously blown up by a well-placed missile from Charles Barkley, Caelus' cybernetic war-elk. Caelus flew on, whistling, seemingly not having noticed Ayv and ngirl's fight in his blind missile-firing fun.

The explosion should have helped Ayvuir - it was one less enemy for him to deal with, after all - but it had the opposite effect. He was so glad that XIII was no longer haunting him that he briefly breathed a sigh of relief and thanked whatever force caused that missile to blow up the lawgiver. This distracted him long enough for ngirl to slice at his head, which was obviously removed.
