Porygon Virtual Pokemon GEN I TYPE: Normal Porygon's name is a mix between polygon and origami. It may also reflect the stereotype that Japanese people pronounce their 'L' sounds as 'R' sounds, Porygon being a mispronunciation of polygon.
Porygon2 Virtual Pokemon GEN I TYPE: Normal Porygon2's name is a mix between polygon and origami. It may also reflect the fact that some Japanese people pronounce their 'L' sounds as 'R' sounds, Porygon being a mispronunciation of polygon. The 2 in its name is a likely reference to software versioning, as it is the second "stable release", an upgraded version, of Porygon.
Porygon-Z Virtual Pokemon GEN IV TYPE: Normal Porygon-Z's name is a mix between polygon and origami. It may also reflect the stereotype that Japanese people pronounce their 'L' sounds as 'R' sounds, Porygon being a mispronunciation of polygon. The "Z" could either refer to the Z axis in 3D coordination systems or that Porygon-Z is the last of its evolutionary line (since the letter Z is the last letter of the Latin alphabet). It is also possible that the "Z" was used as a corruption of "2", due to the fact that Porygon-Z is a glitched version of Porygon2. Possibly, the name may derive from Mazinger Z, one of the most famous giant robots and ubiquitous in Japanese popular culture. Its creator, Go Nagai, is supposed to have said that he chose Z as it is the most powerful letter of the Roman alphabet, which fits well with Porygon-Z being the last and third in its evolutionary line.
Easy Vote Porygon: Porygon2: Porygon-Z:

'Well said, magic japanese catmonster created by a genetic experiment with powers that far exceed those of his fellow Pokemon. Well said.' - Jon Stewart
5 - Completely average pokemon in every sense of the word 7 - Then they evolved it and gave it a rounder, more sleek design 1.5 - Then they went crazy with one more form that looks completely stupid.

Porygon: Meh. Ugly, and it cost too much to get. 2/10 Porygon2: Kind of dumb, but once the Eviolite appeared it got pretty cool. 8/10 Porygon-Z: Interesting idea, but I don't really like it. Very annoying to come across it in the Battle Subway too. 5/10

Oh yeah, that bonkers Game Corner price for something completely average makes me resent Porygon even more. Knock my ranking for it down to a 4.3 please.

"Sorry pop music lyrics don't use ancient Hebrew religious imagery as an illusion to the class struggle in French Indochina as you grind on a girl."
one of my lesser talked about favorite lines. Overall I'm a fan of pokemon with high special attack, I've used a porygon 2 for Pokemon Stadium 2 specifically!
