Hello everyone. Welcome to my first nuzlocke! Since Colosseum is weird I will be modifying the rules a bit. If I did the one Pokemon per area I would only end up with lke a dozen Pokemon which would be not nearly enough.

Rules:
1. Every shadow Pokemon is available to catch, but if I only have one chance for each. If I accidentally kill it, too bad.
2. I must officially nickname each Pokemon once they are purified. Espeon and Umbreon will be officially named once I reach the name rater. Until I can change a Pokemon's name I will keep track of all of the names and still refer to them by that name.
3. If a Pokemon faints it is dead.
4. No Plusles allowed.
5. I will name the Pokemon based on sign up order.

Notes:
1st person gets to name the girl.
2nd person gets their choice of Espeon/Umbreon.
3rd person gets other one.
5th person chooses which Johto starter I pick.
The rest of the sign ups are normal.

I will be starting shortly, and I should be able to play for a few hours today. Have at it!

We start with what must be the coolest cutscene in any Pokemon game. At a mysterious evil headquarters somewhere in a desert, the main character, Cody, blows part of the building up, steals their portable Pokemon snagging device, and rides off into the distance on his hover-motorcycle thing with his Espeon and Umbreon riding shotgun. Oh yeah, and then he blows up the rest of the building. We also see this evil team's leader, a really big guy who could probably rip us in half with ease.

Now we are at an abandoned train in the middle of a desert, which apparently makes for a profitable diner. Cody happens to overhear a couple of shady guys talking about what sounds like a successful kidnapping, but decides to not intervene as they depart in their hover-truck. Also, they had a large, brown, human-shaped sack with them, but I'm sure it was nothing.

Inside the diner Cody overhears a tv report about the blown up evil headquarters, which belonged to Team Snagem. That was fast. When trying to leave, Cody is pestered by Willie the Zigzagoon breeder. He is dispatched with ease, thanks to [insert name here] the Espeon and [insert name here] the Umbreon. Also, forgot to mention this, but all battles in this game are double battles.

Next we head to Phenac City, which is somehow overflowing with water despite being in the middle of the desert. Those two shady guys from earlier are now in the middle of the most awkward kidnapping ever, so I eventually fight the appropriately named Folly. His two Whismur go down quickly, and I am able to rescue the attractive girl who can see shadow Pokemon. What was her name again?

(I need a name.)

That's right, it's Bernice! She is so amazed by my heroics that she promptly becomes my partner! Together we decide to visit the mayor and report the kidnapping, since this town apparently has no police.

Outside the mayor's house we meet an older Riku-Ansem clone who is clearly not evil. The glowing red eyes and demonic hair that blows with no wind mean nothing.

Es Cade, the mayor doubts Bernice's story of Pokemon with evil aura, but promises to launch an investigation into the incident. Whatever that means. He then suggests that we visit the Phenac Stadium, the pride of the city.

Unable to advance the plot yet, Cody and Bernice go there only to find out that registration is closed. While leaving, a group of Team Snagem goons confront us, and they expose Cody as a former Team Snagem member. *gasp* Luckily this came out after Cody saved Bernice's life, so it actually makes Cody even cooler. Regaro and [unnamed Espeon] take care of business with ease, and the grunts are sent packing.

We then learn that, since Orre is a freaking desert devoid of wild Pokemon, Pokemarts don't sell Pokeballs. Fortunately, the friendly diner owner has some, and the first five are on the house! I then stock up on Great Balls, since the jerk had those but didn't feel like giving them away, and head back to Phenac City.

In the two minutes I was gone, "a whole lot of scary men" apparently took over the mayor's house. Oh no!

Inside we find the fabulous Miror B.! Also some colored dudes and the two nincompoops from earlier. Miror B. threatens us and then leaves to one of the greatest themes ever, taking the colored dudes with him.

Folly is then uneventfully smacked down, so Trudly (the other one) actually does something this time. His Spinarak and Duskull both die quickly, so he sends out a seemingly normal Makuhita. Bernice then reveals that she can see dead peo... shadow Pokemon, and comes up with the brilliant plan to steal it. For JUSTICE! I toss a Great Ball, and [4th sign up] the Makuhita joins the party! Dumb and Dumber run away, but the mayor is nowhere to be found. Hmm.

I think I'll check out the city and grind a little bit. Interesting fact for those who don't know: shadow Pokemon can't level up until they are purified, where they receive the experience all at once. Hooray!

I still need some names people! Next three names are for:

-Makuhita
-Quilava/Bayleef/Croconaw (your choice, limited time offer!)

After goofing around for a bit I confront the Red Power Ranger to leave town. Mccheyne the Makuhita insisted of going into hyper mode a lot (sort of like a disobedient mode, wastes a turn, makes them likely to not listen, costs another turn to return them to normal, but it does purify them a bit) and was pretty useless. Thanks to Socko the Espeon, I get him down to just his Quilava, and one Great Ball later Mycro the Quilava is ours!

Before leaving I visit the Pre Gym and destroy some novice trainers, getting Socko and Regaro some experience while helping Mccheyne and Mycro open their hearts.

I then leave town and, after stopping at a construction site where I can do literally nothing, I make it to Pyrite Town (aka you're getting mugged town). First impression, I love this background music. Go look it up, it is fantastic. Anyway, I meet the town cops, Johnson and the Chief. They are in over their heads, and will probably be useless. Also, Trudly and Folly turned themselves in and are hiding from their boss in jail. Hah. I also meet Duking, a really large dude who is apparently in charge of this town's Colosseum and is letting the bad guys walk all over him for some reason, and some kids who have a secret base hidden behind a bookcase. Interesting.

Against my better judgement, I headed to the Shadow Pokemon square. After two easy battles, I find a guy who has a shadow Misdreavus (and two other Pokemon that literally had no impact on the battle). I lead with Regaro and Socko. First turn, Misdreavus uses shadow ball to bring Socko down to 1/3 health and I'm sweating a little. Next turn I switch in Mycro who takes a shadow ball that leaves him with 8 hp! Here I almost crapped myself. I switched in Mccheyne, the only other guy with health (Regaro was ignored the entire time while he took care of the non shadow Pokemon), and unsuccessfully wasted a Great Ball. Misdreavus then dropped Mccheyne to 18 hp. Unable to switch him out, I used a super potion, but my reflect from earlier wore off, and another shadow ball brutally murdered Mccheyne (lv 30 5/10). I bring in a severely wounded Mycro and toss a Great Ball that miraculously catches Suor the Misdreavus, but not without a cost. At least I was able to open Mccheyne's heart a bit before he passed.

Regaro the Umbreon Lv 28 (male)

After a suitable period of mourning I went back into the square to take on some more Shadow Pokemon trainers. With Mycro's powerful Flame Wheel and Regaro taking hits, I had no trouble this time. Mycro even lowered his evil meter down to zero, which means if he survives until I'm able to purify Pokemon then he will be able to open his heart! I also filled out my team by adding Meteor the Slugma, Ayvuir the Flaffy, and GTM the Skiploom.

Always could use more names.

The potential for a lot of deaths and I'm gonna try to purify as many Pokemon as possible. There are no wild Pokemon in this game so I'm can only use Shadow Pokemon I successfully snag.

I finished up the square and I think that is all the new Poiemon I have a chance at for a while. The pacing in this game can be odd, with large spaces in between snaggable Pokemon. Only one interesting thing to note. When I was fighting the Shadow Noctowl (my favorite Pokemon) trainer I stupidly forgot to restock on Great Balls. I didn't realize until one failed and I only had 3 left. I got Noctowl down to the red but it just wouldn't catch. On my last ball I held my breath as it shook once, twice, three times, and [next lucky poster] the Noctowl joined me. Finally, after buying a dozen new Great Balls, [other poster] the Quaqsire completed a nearly perfect Shadow Pokemon square (never forget Mccheyne).

Please donate your new or gently-used names. All are welcome!

After doing a bit of training we head to the Colosseum, where we are told that local scum Cail knows what's up. Cody and Bernice head all the way back to the entrance of town to confront him, and he reveals that he has a nefarious shadow Furret! It puts up quite the fight, but I manage to snag it with a sliver of health left, adding [guy or gal] the Furret to the box. That should be it for a little while, for real this time. He warns me about the Colosseum, so I'm guessing that's where we're headed next.

So far the regular battles haven't been too bad, but the shadow Pokemon battles have been somewhat tough. The Misdreavus fight almost wiped out 3/4 of my team at the time, and a couple others have put some of my team a hit away from death. I also have gotten pretty lucky with all of my snags thus far. Since shadow rush, the one move all shadow Pokemon know, deals major recoil (it is basically a typeless Take Down), Noctowl and Furret almost killed themselves before I got them. I'm going to keep things basically the same for now and see how it goes. If things get too easy I will try and make it more difficult. I do want to add one new rule that I forgot about.

New Rule:
-Legendary Pokemon cannot be snagged.

Cody's Nuzlocke run! I snag 'em, you tag 'em! And by tag I mean name. Name them.

After a brief detour involving a missing gear for the town's windmill (Silva, Duking's assistant, stole it because they are having a fight, and even though they are friends they aren't talking because of the bad things that are going down, it's complicated, but neither of them are evil). I am tasked with winning the Colosseum and infiltrating the evil operations. Long story short, I breeze through, with Sock and Mcflubbin doing the heavy lifting. I am doing a good job at spreading the workload around, so I am able to swap in and out Pokemon from my box, since none of the shadow Pokemon can level up yet.

Outside I meet up with a Cipher goon (they are the other evil organization) who takes me to their secret base (a dilapidated warehouse). Before he can reward me with a sexy shadow Pidgey or something they recognize me as the suave hero who messed up their plans before and attack. The grunt is dispatched with relative ease, and [speed boost x100 million that got really annoying] the Yanma succumbs to the Cody side.

I continue exploring their crappy facility, taking out random bystanders in the process (they had it coming). In one fight, a Larvitar managed to thrash about for what felt like 5 turns without confusing itself. One of these was a critical hit, leading to the untimely demise of *pause for dramatic effect* GTM the Skiploom. I hardly knew you, but you were avenged.

"More _ames Please!" Would you like to solve this puzzle?

Also, dead people may resign with a different name if they would like, especially if I have unnamed Pokemon still.

So I continue moving up the base, taking out random thugs who have no Shadow Pokemon and are pretty unremarkable. Taking the lead are Regaro, Socko, Articuno the Furret (he has big dreams), and Orochimaru the Yanma. I also find one revive in a chest, which is like a kick to the groin in a Nuzlocke run. It also turned out to be a bit of FORESHADOWING.

At the top of the building I find Silva, who got the crap beaten out of him by Miror B.'s guards. He turns out to be entirely good, and thought that rushing recklessly into the evil team's building without any coordination with the other good guys would be a good idea. Anyway, the two guards attack back to back.

The 1st guard has a water theme, and is pretty easy. I lead off with Socko and Articuno. Remember this, it is important. She also has a shadow Remoraid that is strangely underleveled (it is level 20). Her Pokemon are never really a threat, and although they do bring Articuno down to low yellow health, I am able to snag Pram the Remoraid with relative ease.

Next up is the 2nd guard, and since I get no rest in between, I have to waste a turn switching out the injured Articuno. She leads with an Aipom and a beastly shadow Mantine. Their combined Astonish and Bubblebeam proves to be dangerous, and I try to be cautious with my team while trying to whittle down Mantine's health. Unfortunately, Aipom's flinch-hax Astonish combined with Mantine's Bubblebeam prove to be the end of Orochimaru the Yanma, bringing him from full health to death in one turn. Socko, Regaro, and Suor manage to defeat Aipom, but the Furret that replaces it is just as annoying. After 3 Great Balls I still haven't snagged it, and Socko and Suor are in dire shape, so I'm forced to put down the Mantine, resulting in my first failed snag. The Mantine's replacement is a Yanma, and I curse at her for rubbing Orochimaru's death in my face. Fortunately, without her powerful Mantine, I manage to defeat her with no further casualties.

After sending the guards packing and saving Silva, Miror B. taunts me on television, and I vow to find him in his cave and save Duking's Plusle. The cave's guard is a pushover compared to the last battle, and I acquire Scud the Qwilfish! Hooray for obscure Johto Pokemon! I bet you forgot it even exists.

I venture inside the cave a bit and take on a few trainers. With Articuno and Scud recieving the bulk of the experience (even though they don't actually get experience yet, just lower their evilness), I'm able to make some decent progress. The final trainer I face for now surprises me with a Hoenn shadow Pokemon, and Raka Putra the Meditite is assimilated.

Boss incoming soon! Super Bowl commercials may cost millions, but I charge NOTHING for your names!

Dammit! I wish I could have seen this from the beginning so that I could claim Umbreon. As it is ShadowHalo in Pokemon form.

Small Update.

I cleared out the rest of the cave without incident. All I have left is the boss. Thankfully someone happened to leave a Pokemon Center healing machine in the cave, so I didn't have to keep running all the way back out of the cave every time I needed to heal. ShadowHalo the Dunsparce and Cata the Swablu were caught without incident, although ShadowHalo was annoying with his constant Glare and Yawn. Finally, I assembled the party that I want for the boss, who uses a very interesting team.

Boss next time for sure! Expect it Sunday or Monday at the latest!

Party:
Regaro the Umbreon Lv 31 (male)
Socko the Espeon Lv 32 (male)
Kibago the Noctowl Lv 30 (male) 0/10
Scud the Qwilfish Lv 33 (male) 0/10
Suor the Misdreavus Lv 30 (female) 0/10
Articuno the Furret Lv 33 (male) 0/10

Box:
Mcflubbin the Quagsire Lv 30 (female) 0/10
Raka Putra the Meditite Lv 33 (female) 2/10
Ayvuir the Flaffy Lv 30 (male) 0/10
Meteor the Slugma Lv 30 (male) 7/10
Pram the Remoraid Lv 20 (female) 10/10
Mycro the Quilava Lv 30 (male) 0/10
ShadowHalo the Dunsparce Lv 33 (male) 9/10
Cata the Swablu Lv 33 (female) 9/10

Graveyard:
Mccheyne the Makuhita Lv 30 (male) 5/10 {Murdered by Suor's Shadow Ball}
GTM the Skiploom Lv 30 (male) 7/10 {Beaten to death by a Larvitar's Thrash, Critical Hit}

Why am I ending up as a female in all the recent Nuzlockes!? Well at least I'm a Swablu so I can evolve into an Alteria

Miror B. Time!
May I suggest that you listen to the following music while reading this update, to ensure the proper atmosphere.

I lead with Kibago and Scud, while he sends out Ludicolo 29 and 31 (I will be calling them their levels, since he has multiple Ludicolos). Kibago flies up high, Scud uses Minimize, and both 29 and 31 use Rain Dance *facepalm*. I check, and Scud has Swift Swim, so that is good. Scud uses Shadow Rush for moderate damage on 31, and Fly from Kibago finishes it off. 29 uses Water Gun to little effect on Scud.

Miror B. sends out 30 to replace 31. Kibago flies up high again, and Scud does minor damage to 30 with Poison Sting. 30 uses Astonish on Kibago (no effect), and 29's Fury swipes miss. Poison Sting plus Fly plus Poison means the end of 30, and 29 does a little bit of damage to Kibago with Fury Swipes.

28 is sent out next, and this is getting easier. A Razor Leaf and Water Gun combo put Scud into yellow despite using Minimize again, while Kibago throws up a Reflect. Taking no chances, I use a Super Potion on Scud. Kibago flies up high, and both 28 and 29 use Rain Dance. Shadow Rush and Fly are the end of 29, and Razor Leaf does minor damage to Scud.

Out comes his final Pokemon, a level 35 shadow Sudowoodo. Kibago flies up high, and Scud's Surf brings Sudowoodo down to half health. Rock Slide plus Razor Leaf does serious damage to Scud though. I swap him out for Regaro. Fly doesn't kill 28, and a Rock Slide puts Kibago in serious peril. Good thing I put up that reflect. *Ally's Reflect has ended* Uh oh.

Articuno tags in for Kibago, and takes a Rock Slide with ease. Regaro's bite leaves 28 with a sliver of health, and 28's pathetic Astonish does virtually nothing to Regaro. An Articuno Quick Attack puts 28 down, and Regaro confuses Sudowoodo, although it manages to land a Shadow Rush on him.

1st snag attempt is a failure, so Regaro bites Sudowoodo down to red health. Unfortunately, it lands another Shadow Rush, this time doing serious damage to Articuno. I Super Potion Articuno and attempt another snag, and I fail again. Sudowoodo then Low Kicks Regaro down to 3 health as my heart skips a beat. Good thing Regaro isn't fatter. Another desperate snag attempt is made, and this time it shakes 3 times before SUCCESS! Nio the Sudowoodo is caught!

Miror B. is defeated, even though his Ludicolo are still dancing next to him in the cutscene after the battle. After generic evil threats, Bernice and I mercifully allow them all to conga out of our sight. We then rescue the Plusle, who is really really small, but has like a 5 foot vertical jump. Dang. Anyway, Duking and Silva make up, and everyone is happy. Plusle also forces its way into my party, and Bernice feigns excitment. How cruel, why must you lie to its face like that? Finally, to celebrate my victory, I sacrifice the level 13 Plusle, in honor of my fallen comrades. Hooray!
