Whether or not people are buying used games, they're still selling consoles. And you can get a lot of entertainment out of those decks. Honestly though unless you hardly buy any games at all mtg is probably a cheaper hobby even if you're not going cheap, unless you're going balls to the walls and spending hundreds of dollars on every deck-- which is hard to do even if you're making the most effective deck you can.
