I just got home from the Raw House show in Pittsburgh.

Sadly their house show rotation is still selling the PREVIOUS PPV, which washonestly kind of a letdown.

Ziggler and Ryder had a short match,which was okay after Ziggler won a 10 man battle royal featuring JTG, Alex Riley, Some guy from South Africa who WASNT Justin Gabriel, Mason Ryan, Santino, Johnny Curtis, Tyler Reks, Curt Hawkins?, Michael McGillicutty.

The battle royale was okay with some funny spots by Santino.

Miz then came out and cut a solid promo on Pittsburgh, fueled by Clevelandism and then moved onto how he is so AWESOME for rebounding from R Truths attack in just two days when truth was out for THIRTY TWO DAYS when Miz assaulted him.

R Truth came out and attacked him and then everyone cleared out.

Then the Bella Twins came down to be Special Guest referees for Beth vs. Eve in a surprisingly solid bout ( who knew Eve had a solid workrate, because I sure as hell didnt), which ended with the Bellas screwing over Eve and then K2 came down to fight off the Bellas and Beth.

Next this dude from South Africa came out and cut a promo about why he hates America and then Alex Riley from WASHINGTON DC came down. He's really improved since they took him off TV and his new finisher looks nice. The other guy was GREEN and the match itself kinda sucked.

Next we got David Otunga vs. Santino in a light comedic bout that the crowd was pretty hot for for some reason. Santino wins with a Cobra after Otunga ran scared from it all match.

At this point Cena vs. Kane happened. MAN this place really came to life for him and this bout was pretty fantastic. Kane can still work and some ofthe spots they used are gonna be great when the match happens for real. This ended in a DQ when Kane got a chair and assaulted the Fink and Cena.

There was short intermission and then we gotthe Main event, which was advertised to be Miz v. Del Rio v. Punk, but was now just Miz v. punk in a 7 foot tall cage.

Punk got a big pop but then died for the match itself which was honestly subpar for both men, but featured some cool spots at the end out of Punk.

Overall PRETTY good, but its got nothing on the SD house show I went to last year at this time.

I tried to have a fierce rivalry with SuperNiceDog, but he made me look worse than a GameFAQs Contest!

Notes: The first two matches were incredibly hot and the place was rockin'. DiBiase was mega over, I think because he was the first face of the night and also because he got some USA chants going with some troops at ringside.

Sheamus took Orton's place in the streetfight with Wade. Drew (!) interfered on behalf of Wade, but Sheamus managed to kick out of the Future Shock DDT and the Winds of Change, and eventually took out McIntyre and nailed Barrett with the Brogue Kick. They had the crowd in a frenzy one way or the other every second of this match. Sheamus is legit over.

Crowd was dead for Rollins vs. Kidd and Gabriel vs. Hunico. Rollins vs. Kidd was well structured but sloppy on Seth's end. Very few in the audience gave a crap until the finishing sequence which involved a tope and Avada Kedavra. Mild applause for him after the match. I was surprised he was working face.

Crowd remained dead for Hunico vs. Gabriel, but this was kinda their fault. Really dull match that seemed to be just stalling for time. Gabriel kicked out of Hunico's swanton which surprised me, and then he hit the 450. Camacho attacked Gabriel after the match, and then Cody came out for his match and hit CrossRhodes on Justin as well, just to be a dick.

They ran the exact same angle (minus one) from TLC for Cody vs. Booker. The match was "scheduled" to go third, but Cody attacked Booker from behind and postponed the match until now. Mediocre match, hopefully if they're going to continue this feud they're using these house shows as a chance for Booker to work off his ring rust. He survived a Rhodes Figure Four for 3 minutes or so and then barely sold the leg after. Rhodes kicked out of the Bookend, dodged the Scissors Kick, and then shoved the ref for the cheap DQ to retain. Booker still beat him up more post-match.

Total by-the-book Dusty Finish in the Tag Title match. Primo had nuclear heat for some reason, I can't explain it but it really helped the match. Epico just had heat by association; the crowd just REALLY hated Primo. They managed to pin Kofi and "win the titles," got announced as new champs and got to celebrate with the belts, until a second ref came out to point out that Kofi's foot was on the rope. Match restarted, Champs retain, hopefully Dusty gets a royalty check. Maybe they're contemplating a title change for real and want to test out the reactions? Rosa was awesomely pissed afterwards, as she should have been! I think they've fallen ass-backwards into a really solid team/stable here with Primo/Epico/Rosa.

For the main event, crowd was 100% (well minus me I guess) behind Big Show. Henry had good heat, crowd was just kinda meh on Bryan. I don't really see how it's a good idea to get him over as a face by squeaking out a cage escape victory over a decade-long beloved face like Big Show. Big schmozz afterwards, Henry left, Drew/Wade came back out to attack Bryan/Show, then Sheamus re-appeared and beat them up again, and fed them to Show for a double chokeslam while Bryan just kinda laid there. Then Show handed him his title and shook his hand and then the three faces stayed around ringside to shake hands and kiss babies. Really puzzling trying to grasp how they think they're building Bryan up with this sort of booking, but hey, I got to walk out of an arena with Daniel Bryan wearing a World Title with his music filling the hallways A good night.

He stopped the match to make a shout out to the troops who protect America, while at the same time fighting a guy wearing a turban to the ring.

That match was actually really solid BTW. Ted, bless him, is really trying to connect with the audience mid-match now instead of just doing his moves as if he's in an empty arena like he usually does. It comes across (to me at least) as forced, but maybe he'll grow more natural at it over time. Steamboat/Savage levels of nearfalls in this one, they really built the crowd up big for the semi-main event that followed them.

Having just finished watching Raw:
-Hahaha, didn't someone here joke about Brodus Clay debuting January 2nd?
-Man, I don't know how anyone will take a Miz/R-Truth rivalry seriously. It makes me think of Tom & Jerry.
-It's really a thing of beauty how they've tip-toed around Mark Henry having to actually wrestle while keeping him relevant. I just wish he'd stop having anything to do with Big Show. Aside from how awful their matches are, it's just not fun to have our monster heel constantly playing coward because he's stuck in a feud with the one guy on the roster bigger than him (well, maybe Kane too).
-John Laurinaitis is the type of authority figure they've been sorely missing. Also it's a shame David Otunga is such a jobber, because he's legitimately getting under my skin, and I feel like that hasn't happened with heels in forever.
-I was wondering how they'd handle the Kane/Cena feud so close to the 'Mania match with the Rock. I'm ashamed to have not thought of this myself. This is great, and it's probably the most interesting Cena's character has been in years. If Cena doesn't lose clean at some point, though, it's just not going to work logically. I mean why does Cena need to get stronger by going to the dark side when no one can ever beat him clean?
-Last but not least, Sheamus didn't squash anyone. I think this breaks his squash streak. Maybe they're saving him for a two-for-one next Raw, where he'll beat both Brodus Clay and John Cena in the span of seven minutes.

They should do a storyline in WWE '13 where the Triple H character is hacked to be ridiculously overpowered and interferes in storylines he has no role in to squash everyone, with FMV cutscenes where Triple H in real life is shown to be the culprit, mastering the art of CYBER-BURIAL.
