Outside of Pokémon and maybe Golden Sun, which both would've been awkward given the transfer data bits involved in the games, what other first party s*** was there to choose from? Sure, FE8 instead of FE7 and just something in general instead of Mario Kart, but Mother 3 is the only replacement from an unrepresented 1st party series that comes to mind for me and it's not like they were going to translate that over for us.

yeah . . . Advance Wars series hasn't done particularly well in Japan for whatever reason, they didn't even release DoR there (despite the full Japanese text being in the game's data)

You might actually be able to blame 9/11 for this one, I'm dead serious. The first game's release was delayed in Japan because of the terrorist attacks (it came out one day beforehand in America so we almost didn't get it for a while either) and it didn't come out until a compilation with AW2 years later. Maybe the series would have met with more success had the game come out when it was intended to. I don't know how popular the previous Wars games that had come out in Japan were.

No. Pokemon games would have to be gimped so it's pointless. There's no MP of any kind in any of the Ambassador games. Also it's EXACTLY the same.

F-Zero Maximum Velocity - I only owned F-Zero X or whatever the SNES F-Zero was. Loved it, so I'm interested in this one.
Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island - Seen many a playthrough of Yoshi's Island. Its a cute and fun game.
Minish Cap - One of the better portable Zeldas. Would've rather had A Link to the Past, but iirc they're working on a 3D Classics of it. Is that true or was it a debunked rumor?
Fire Emblem Sacred Stones - I suck at strategy games but may play this through with a FAQ. Yeah, I'm that bad at SRPGs.
Kirby & the Amazing Mirror - Awesome, never played it. Looking forward to it!
Mario Kart Advance - My Mario Kart collection keeps on growing! WOOHOO!

You're in luck, FE8 is basically the SRPG for people who are bad at SRPGs! <_< Really easy game, especially if don't make a point of avoiding random encounters/optional areas like a lot of FE players do.
