Welcome to another round of the Best OST Contest, where we decide the best game soundtrack by voting on the songs in it.
Condensed rules and guidelines: * You must listen to both songs in the match. Use the provided links. * You must vote on the songs in the match. Not the game's overall music. Not how much you like the game itself. ***VOTE ON THE SONGS*** * To help enforce rule 2, All votes must be given for the song title, not the game or the seed number. No exceptions. * Normal contest rules apply about alts, rallying, multi-voting, etc. * No mid-thread tallies, please. * Matches run 24 hours from when they start.
Previous results: a. The potential right-side champions continue to drop away as Homestuck, showing weakness via Harleboss, is upset by A Functioning God and the little 16 seed that could. Frozen Synapse advances, 22-11. b. Lava Reef Zone 1 is no contest for Plain Asia, which defends Touhou's honor in ensuring that ONE member of their series -- which did so well in round 1 -- lives to see round 3. Touhou 8 advances, 20-12.
And now, the final day of round 2...
------------------------------------------ 14. SKies of Arcadia vs 11. Barkley: Shup up and Jam Gaiden
Boss Battle
Islam is the Party Religion

10. Perfect Dark vs 15. Professor Layton and the Unwound Future
Carrington Villa Hostage One http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXGfzSbbogk&hd=1
I really have no idea how to vote on either of these. I prefer match 1's songs to match 2's. But A vs B and C vs D, nothing jumps at me, really. I guess I'll vote later.

Oh, a big machine with flashy lights. A big machine like that has me written all over it. Well, okay, it doesn't. But give me time... and a crayon --11th Doctor
I am baffled as to why Boss Battle would be chosen for this contest. I love it ingame, because it switches which part plays based on whether you are winning or losing. It is very cool there, but in an OST contest? That said, Islam is the Party Religion has absolutely nothing going for it, while I still enjoy sections of Boss Battle, so it wins by default. Carrington Villa Hostage One has a neat section at the end, I like that sped up portion, but the rest is questionable. Laboratory (Live) has some decent parts, but I think it does not hold up as well. Really, this entire day was rather on the weak side, nothing in particular caught me other than nostalgia I have for Skies of Arcadia. (Not that I voted for it because of nostalgia, its competition is just that mediocre to me.)

You laugh at my Celtic Guardian, until I use my Scapegoat, and then United We Stand, Mage Power, and 3 Axe Of Despairs, with Gaia Power out. 11900/7800
Boss Battle makes that first match a joke. You could put practically anything in this contest thus far against it and I can't imagine it not being enough to win. Second match is kind of just "whatever" but I liked Laboratory more I guess.

Islam is the Party Religion Carrington Villa Hostage One
Boss Battle is not bad, it is actually pretty good, but it has some parts that just don't help the song overall quality very much. Islam is kind of good, and more consistently good for that matter, so there goes my vote.
On the other hand, Carrington sounds EXACTLY like a Metroid Prime song, except that it is... you know... actually good. Laboratory isn't my kind of song really, but it is obvious that it was an orchestrated version, so I can't really speak for the original version there.
Close though. Boss Battle was kinda good but those ever-irritating instruments soured my view on it :/ Party Religion does almost nothing to catch my attention until the end part, which was not only too short, it was mediocre regardless.
Laboratory Better match. Carrington Villa is nice. Sounds like something in a spacey edition of Rise of Nations or something until that tempo change: slow, repetitive, but easy to listen to. I'm also impressed with how well everything from that transition onward just flowed so well. Other than that, its fairly average imo. Laboratory is also fairly average, but it has the merit of reminding me of one of my favourite mixes from OCR, Static Wonderland.
