Past Results: Thanks to Laharl's tendency to brag, Lelouch easily advances to the division finals. Unrelated to the match, some heavy contest drama went down, which prevented the match from being a shut-out. Votals: 1-13
(3) Megas XLR From the series with the same name, Megas XLR is a building-sized mech piloted by Coop, a slacker with amazing videogame talents. Megas is equipped with a wide arsenal of weapons, from lasers to missiles, can fly, and possesses tremendous strength. Its greatest asset, however, is its Big Red Button, which always provides a useful attack for the situation at hand. The button seems to be context sensitive, as it even reacts to previous uses of itself (changing its tag from "Fire Missiles" to "Fire More Missiles", and finally "Fire All Da Missiles"), making it very handy in a fight.

(2) Evangeline A.K. McDowell From Negima, Evangeline A.K. McDowell is a dark mage. Cold and devilish, Evangeline has the body of a little girl, though she is actually over 500 years old. She has the powers of a Shinso vampire, which include rapid regeneration and flight; though she was impaled by a rock, she quickly healed from it and stated that she could not be harmed by physical means.
Evangeline specializes in ice spells and dark magic, and she can manipulate and control people as if they were puppets through her vampiric powers. She is also a master of Aikido, and can effortlessly take down a man twice her size; it is implied she learned the martial art directly from its creator. She is capable of moving around and attacking while in the middle of chanting the lines for her larger spells.
A copy of Eva that claims to be "many times weaker than the original" was able to fight Negi, who could move at speeds between Mach 448 and Mach 6642, for a long period of time before Negi could hit her.

Taken together, I can see her having a shot here. She's gone straight for the big spell both times she's actually fought at full power, so that's not going to be an issue. And even if Megas withstands her magic, the pilots might not be so lucky. They could very well end up frozen solid inside the machine.
As an aside, as may be apparent, the other time she fought at full strength was during the first feat I listed. Does potentially give another example of the level of her ability though, I guess.

The concurrent matches overshadowed one another; Goku/Yuki is over by time now, but the circumstances of the match didn't allow the vote it's full potential time. It was considered a joke by the host and so it wasn't taken seriously by the voters.

Evangeline has had two major fights so far. In the first one she pretty quickly went for the absolute zero spell. In the other, she almost immediately went for a big ice spell that creates endlessly regenerating ice that traps an opponent.

...there's no reason Kiva and Jamie wouldn't be in there. Megas pretty much always had all 3 of them inside. they were a trio through pretty much every adventure.
anyway, Megas. mech somehow will know exactly the way to beat her and that will be the button that gets pressed somehow.

By the way, in the newest chapter Evangeline finally gets another showing... It hasn't been scanlated yet, but she uses an ice-type Armationem which should substantially boost her abilities. It's the same kind of magic that drastically strengthens Negi. I'm not sure what hers does exactly, but they all will strengthen the user to some extent.

...she doesn't cast her spells instantly. there's a good couple seconds between 'em as she says the quick lines. which is more than enough time for any of his instant win buttons. there's nothing 'gamefaqs' about it. that's simply how megas works in the show.

Are these buttons actually 'instant win'? Versatility is one thing, but I find it hard to imagine an attack capable of that without drastically exceeding its power level.
Also, Evangeline's big spells are non-instant, but she can cast large numbers of ice arrows pretty fast.

if you're at the climax of the show, yep. putting it this way, at one point he needed to find the 'save the world' button because the enemy was going to shoot a giant ass cannon and kill everyone.
he found destroy the world. destroy the world better
save the world was busted. he rewired a couple things really quick, his slushie was somehow teleported deep into the enemy base on top of exactly the right computer that was controlling the cannon's charging, and fell at exactly the right time to short out the computer and make it unable to cancel but also unable to fire, making it implode on them.
other examples include his 5 minutes left until the episode ends and 10 minutes left until the episode ends. meaning it's also self-aware of how much time is left for the show to wrap everything up and will behave accordingly.
so yeah, the buttons somehow change even during the episodes to fit the situation. climax of show being reached, DEM time.

Yessss, but even destroying the world wouldn't work very well. I'm not sure if Eva needs to breathe or not, but I'm dubious that it would kill her. As long as the buttons have to win through specified means, then you need to find a means that they could win through.

oh yeah, and to deal with a planet-sized monster that was gonna destroy the planet, a fridge full of pop rocks and soda was fired into its mouth by accident. it exploded with them in the near vicinity.
the mech power scales basically. if it's fighting grunts grunts can do something to it, if it's fighting planet sized monsters well they can blow up and have it crash into earth through the atmosphere and it'll still be okay.

Hmm...an interesting match indeed. Megas has the size advantage, but that's never been a problem for Eva before. The context-sensitive Big Red Button is major hax, but...the rules of MPFC say that all characters are in their most powerful incarnation, and all indications from Akamatsu are that we still haven't seen Eva's full power--and given the nature of that curse on her, I somehow doubt we ever will. Given what we already have seen her defeat effortlessly, Evangeline is the obvious pick.

I think I'll go ahead and give my vote to Evangeline. The button is certainly powerful, but a frozen Coop isn't going to be pressing it. Eva only needs one spell to make that happen, and honestly, I don't really see her not getting it off. And while it's generally an argument I avoid, Eva has the body of a 10 year old girl. Even if Coop notices her right off from up in Megas' cockpit, that's not exactly something that inspires intimidation and urgency.
