Also, it's all about skillsets and matchups... I mean, Mothra beat Ipkiss, right? Brolly should be able to beat Mothra with ease (unless I'm missing something).

Well IIRC in both series, the actual Anti-Spiral mech beat the (S)TTGL but Simon/Lagann were still able to fight. It's been a while though.

Just throw some limits in there. No deities, characters who dwarf the armies power. Like throw the Galactic Republic without Vader or Emporor Palpatine vs Space Marines without the Emperor of Mankind. Keep summoned/tied to a being armies out like the Alucard of Hellsing's army. I unno. Can't be more of a headache then current MPFC

Most Powerful Army would simply come down to either Culture or Warhammer armies, unless there's an army of reality warpers I'm forgetting. I don't think that contest would be very succesful - either of those would get a free pass to the finals.

But now that I've got the brackets...yeah, I think I like the seeded ones a teensy little bit more. Maybe I'll swap characters that would get the same seed around to keep the first round fresh, but otherwise I think I'll roll with what the nominations say. Just in case, beyond limiting the comic characters to picking from one era, is there anything else I should keep in mind when setting up the rules for the nomination topic?

malazan army would beat everyone!

The Malazan army gets nuked from orbit by a weapon capable of obliterating stars, and that is that. This can be done by six armies or more, so "yeah". It's why I don't like the prospect of MPA.

Good idea. Something like this?

-The character must be defeatable by reproducible means. If the character is only vulnerable to attacks made with a specific sword, a type of metal unique to one universe, or foreknowledge of an esoteric weak point, then your nomination will not be counted, so don't waste your time. If the character has never been defeated in his own canon, but could be beaten by someone strong enough, you can nominate him, but be absolutely, positively sure that he or she doesn't fall under one of the clauses above or is in fact undefeatable. For example: Dante Sparda, from Devil May Cry, doesn't lose fights, but that doesn't mean he's invincible and he can be injured and defeated. Eru Ilúvatar from The Lord of the Rings wouldn't be allowed as a nomination, however, as his abilities are up to speculation and we don't know what he can do, being a stand-in for the catholic God.

In theory, there could be a caveat for characters who are vulnerable in weak points, automatically granting their opponents knowledge about them, but I think that's too much trouble. I know of a character that would work perfectly as the point where the line is drawn on undefeatability (as it's an omnipotent character, but potentially defeatable if an even more awesomely powerful being challenged him), though, so at least that simplifies the process of weeding out undefeatable beings.

MPF is about the journey, not the destination. You telling me when you saw Darkseid among the likes of Solid Snake and Batman (okay bad example >_>) you thought it wasn't worth it? Plus who doesn't want to argue who would win between the Zerg and the Green Lantern Core? Or see some of the smaller armies get paired up together somehow? I mean hell there is another topic on this board claiming that a match between two of the lower powered characters (Batman and Midboss) is the best match ever.

Honestly talking about it and thinking about it so much makes me want to really see it. If someone could give me some assistance I really don't mind trying to get it of the ground myself or handing it to someone who would.

Edit: Ohh wait it said worst match. Should have just said Ipkiss vs Brolly >_>

I would say limit characters to the way they would act. Just cause a character can do something does not mean they will.
