I don't know if I ever posted this, I think I completely forgot to until now, but the Axe Cop vs Samurai Jack MPFC match is referenced in commentary in the paperback trade collection of Volume 1 of Axe Cop. Not directly by name, but it was pretty obviously talking specifically about that. I'll take a picture of it in a sec if I can find it.

My phone's picture quality is way too crappy for it to be readable, so I'll just post the text here. It's on page 74, in commentary on the Ask Axe Cop episode that asks about his mustache's powers:
Ask Axe Cop #32 This is one of the most common questions we get asked, and I resisted asking Malachai for a long time, but I'm glad I finally did. I saw a forum online debating who would win in a fight between Axe Cop and Samurai Jack. Everyone was saying Jack, until someone posted a link to this episode and then a bunch of them switched to Axe Cop. He has a robot in his face!
If I remember correctly, Jack did end up winning in the end, however.

Samurai Jack beats Axe Cop, 21-12: Mustache robots and lemon grenades were insufficient next to Jack's skills with a blade and ability to handle damn near anything.
Natwaf_akidna posted... It's probably a really minor thing but...
I remember this match between Enel and Obi Wan, and because Obi Wan can become one with the force, he can't lose. Even though it's not like he can do anything by then.
I think that was TheRock trolling. I think BLUE FORCE GHOST LOL or something became a minor meme
...Well damn. That is something else alright. Never knew people lurked our MPFC's.
Which reminds me. If there is interest in running an MPFC, I figure I could organize something, but it'd need a pretty good set of rules. Here's what I'm thinking:
-64 entrants, double elimination. -Nominations open for...five days? A week? Seedings determined by total noms instead of random/handpicking. -Reality warpers allowed, but discouraged. -ToC characters allowed (should they be kept retired or not? Opinions?) -Comic Characters need a specific era that is well defined. Scans from outside that era are not allowed. -The Doctor never gets the TARDIS. Ever. No, not even then. If he is to win a match it will be with the aid of his screwdriver only. -Usual rules for being in-character, not nomming characters undefeatable outside of nonreproducible means, etc. -Rallying allowed. No justifications necessary to vote. -Zany arguments allowed as long as they make sense. Rocky montage-styled arguments are OK. Giving Cloud reality warping powers is a no-no.
Anything else I'm missing?

Double elimination might not work very well. Mumei tried doing a loser's bracket but stopped it due to lack on interest.
-Nominations open for...five days? A week? Seedings determined by total noms instead of random/handpicking.
Seeding by nominations doesn't really make sense. A character's strength isn't proportional to the number of nominations they get. I think it's better to stick with a hand made bracket of the characters that qualify.
-ToC characters allowed (should they be kept retired or not? Opinions?)
I don't they are ever specifically banned. It's just a lot of them don't qualify for the "defeatable by reproducable means" clause.

Pokemon VGC2011 NW Regional - Top 8 Pokemon VGC2011 US Nationals - 54th place
I think the best matches I participated in were all Godzilla-based. Juggernaut vs Godzilla, Berzerker (I think?) vs Godzilla, and Buttercup vs Godzilla. Pretty sure I argued for Godzilla in all of them, though I remember initially thinking Buttercup could take him on.
Godzilla ended up beating Juggernaut on ring-out, since no one could make a convincing argument that one could hurt the other. It was decided that Godzilla would eventually chuck Juggernaut into space, and those on the fence didn't buy the argument that Juggernaut would land on some meteor and push back off to earth in a reasonable amount of time. What a goofy match.

And to speak to the topic at hand, I think frequency killed MPFC. It felt like we were on pace for five or six contests a year, which is stupid considering how extensively we argue characters each contest. There's not going to be any appreciable difference in character powers or anything like that in the short time span between contests when they're that frequent.

Hm...so a handpicked bracket might be better you say? I dunno - most of the time, it feels like matches that have been set up have turned out to be flops - most of the classic matches happened by chance, didn't they? Nobody set up Ipkiss vs. Broly, for instance. Or Lancer vs. Mewtwo.

The problem with handpicked brackets is just that it's extremely tough to balance them out properly. You don't know if there will be a first round upset, so you can't realistically plan to set up big matches in later rounds, but when you stack the first round you end up with the middle rounds being terrible. I seem to remember that happening once, I think it was the villains contest, where there was a match like Unicron/Galactus in the first round that was somewhat close and then the winner basically scored a shut out from there until the finals because the only opposing votes were just fanboy rage. Setting up a "big" match to be the first match of the contest is a good idea to get things started on a good foot, and maybe put another one somewhere else in the first round to keep momentum going, but otherwise it's better to do it with a heavy random element. It leads to more unpredictability AND means that if things get dull you can just blame luck instead of people criticizing your decisions :)

I liked the first MPFC tournament the most by far. Like the first tournament which had darsh - morrigan in the finals. The more tournament we had the less interested I was, mostly because everyone had already participated several times and it became very predictable.
Ahh, Laharl getting frustrated and destroying the planet. Good times.
Hmm, not sure, a little rusty on my WoT. I do like this one spell he had where he repeatedly had a dimensional gate close and open repeatedly to slice Trollocs. Forgot if it was fired off or stationary though.

Chant the name of BlAcK TuRtLe, winner of the 2010 Guru Challenge! NEXT TIME!
<_<; there's a bit more to that story there for the daily one - it didn't last very long because there was too much 'well what about this, we can fix that, what if we restrict this' blah blah blah crap in it that was simply too loose, there was too much in terms of frequency, and there was no competition to it so nobody really cared outside of the people who couldn't decide on what to do in the first place. and even then half of them wouldn't participate anyway.

f*** I just remembered Edward Elric beating Wolverine because he'd transmute his adamantium to something else. And in retrospect I feel bad voting for Edward because Wolverine would mutilate him, but... it's possible!

again the **** is this? =P
dat Power Cosmic...
Just remembered, apparently Galactus is perceived differently by different beings, so just because he appears to be a tall humanoid to us, he'd probably be something else to the Anti-Spiral. But really, dat power cosmic.
rofl I think the topic got to the point where it went
Simon and the Dai Gurren crew would make Galactus good by teaching him the ways of Spiral Power thus making it he wouldn't have to go around eating planets
<cue Mortal Kombat FRIENDSHIP ending>
or maybe that was another topic / other site I saw that explanation on.
