Locke's scenario is very fun but it mostly focuses on Locke.

Sabin's has very good length and involves a lot of characters.

Terra, Edgar, Banon Scenario

Very brief and disappointing. We finish the rafting, emerge in the overworld, sneak back into Narshe, and make it back to Arvis's house, the one that Terra woke up in after discovering the Esper. We learn from Arvis that Narshe is neutral in the Empire/Returners conflict and that the people have gone a bit crazy since the Esper was discovered. Arvis and Banon ask Terra for help, believing that she can unlock some secrets about the Esper and assuage the village's people.

That's it. The whole thing barely took 20 minutes, and I was lost in the overworld for most of it. Hope the other two are better.

(Banon's healing is so broken tier, though; gonna miss this guy)

Yeah, that's easily the worst one. The other two are much, much better.

That's pretty much it. Terra's sequence is bland and super short. Locke's is interesting, although I don't care for it that much. Sabin's is the longest and is excellent.

Playing them in that order is probably the best. That way you don't go from a lengthy quest to a shorter one.

Locke's Scenario

Failing a few times during the espionage portion got me in a bad mood. It's not really conducive for someone with an inquisitive nature like me. I had to explore everything yet again, so naturally, I swapped clothes far more often than I needed to. I also guessed wrong with the kid's password and found myself knocked out at the start (how the hell is it than LITTLE KID can knock out Locke freakin Cole? Best character my ass). By this point, I knew exactly what I needed to do, so I sneaked through the "unique" portion of his scenario very quickly.

Note to all: unique doesn't always mean good.

I was a bit disappointed in this leg of the journey (you guys gave me high expectations) until the emergence of... LEGENDARY GENERAL AND BOARD 8 FAVORITE CELES CHERE. Yeeeah, now we're talkin. Celes was an esteemed general of the Empire, but now, for reasons that either have not been made clear or have been plum forgotten by yours truly, she is an imprisoned traitor. The treasure hunter (who can't seem to find diddly but tonics and old clothes) frees her, and we're on our way. Locke needed some backup here, and Celes, with her offensive and defensive magic, is fine backup indeed. As others have pointed out, Locke is weak in battle so far, so he could use the help. We battle our way out of Southern Figaro, through the overworld, and through the mountainous caves that separate us from Narshe.

Just before we're home free, we're ambushed by a menacing looking boss: a mechanical, magic using tank. I nearly crap bricks because it's been a while since my last save, but Celes calmly explains that her Runic ability allows her to absorb magic attacks for no damage. I take the hint. I do nothing but use Runic with Celes and attack with Locke. The tank goes down and we leave victorious.

Second part of this scenario >> first

1.) What console are you using to play?

SNES games don't work well on HD TVs, but the component cables make it a little better.

Also, probably unnecessary to ask, but you have set the TV to display in 4:3, right? Because some people don't change the aspect ratio from 16:9 when playing 4:3 games, and they are dumb.

Good idea. Might I humbly recommend the Sony Trinitron 2007 model. It's not too expensive anymore and it's seriously gotta be the best SDTV out there. Since it came out so late it takes full advantage of a lengthy understanding of the tech to deliver stunningly crisp visuals.

It's like two hundred pounds though oops augh

Technically any "SDTV" with Component inputs is officially classified as an EDTV (Enhanced Definition Television), at least here in the States. SDTVs can't do 480p, but EDTVs can.

And yeah, a late-model EDTV would be a great investment for any Dreamcast/PS2/GCN/Xbox/Wii gaming. I find that it's not really necessary for stuff prior to the Dreamcast, though--I can finagle my HDTV settings enough to make older games look as good as ever (and I always use an S-Video cable whenever applicable instead of Composite Cables for pre-DC consoles).
