No, you don't. That was one of the several games that got votes this week for no adequately explored reason. 6 vote win over TF2 isn't worth anything.
Justification for. Means I was doing it anyway, to avoid having to face the fact that my preseason ballot was extremely screwed up.

Oh, and I suppose I should go ahead and ask since it's only two weeks away (Man, this contest is flying by. It felt like we just finished the first one!):
Suggestions for matches you'd like to see during Rivalry Week #2? It can be any sort of "perceived" rivalry, whether it's a contest rivalry, same-series rivalry, inter-company rivalry, whatever.
CT/SSBM has been my dream contest match since.....maybe 2006. It's perfect: Nintendo vs. Square, Old vs. New, Night vs. Day, all at once. It's perhaps the strongest possible close Nintendo/Square match that isn't OOT/FFVII. But I'd be pretty scared of CT losing if it ever came to pass, because it would be very painful.
No, I said "your definition of losing badly is strange." That doesn't mean "Talk about the scores and then post another update about it later in the topic!"

Hmm...

Yeah, because there's not any sort of connection to be made between CT and FFVI! It's not like they were both well renowned SNES RPGs made by Square or anything!

Brawl can always beat Melee on this board it seems, but it loses to games Melee beats. I hope it's the same for the contest site-wide......and I really don't see MM beating Melee. I just.......don't see it after Melee beat WW 65-35.
Looking at back at my pre-season top 25, it was a mistake to put MvC3 and SSF4 on there, thinking that modern fighting games would do really well.
Other than that, Bioshock, Mega Man X, Super Mario RPG, and Shadow of the Colossus are the only things I put on there not on the top 25 now, and none of those were that bad of choices.

ONLY FIVE CAN LADDER. Sushi, kamikaze, fujiyama, nippon-ichi...
So if Melee beats Mario 64, how many of us are willing to put it back in the top 5?
In that case I'd put both Melee and Mario 64 in the top ten, easily, but probably not the top five.... I'd reserve that for Chrono Trigger, RBY, RE4, Mario 3, and Link to the Psat, most likely (not necessarily that order).
If AC2 is still undefeated by RW2, I recommend putting it against one of the strongest games in the field.
Actually, I think it would be better to let it go undefeated for like 20 weeks facing weaklings. Then, people will start being convinced of its worthiness of being ranked! Then, in the next five weeks, pit it against five ranked games and watch it lose the next five matches. >:)

I'm fine with people anti-voting Mario this early in the season. By the time the season ends the series will have fallen down to earth with only half their games remaining in the top 25.
Then comes the win.

BOP Results: http://charmander6000.webs.com/GotD%20BOP.xls Congratulations to Black Turtle for winning the guru contest.
Okay, here's a rather stupid idea for rivalry week--we pit the "black sheep" of the dominant franchises against each other: Final Fantasy VIII vs. Super Mario Sunshine.
Told you it was a stupid idea.
What else...well, we could always put in more same-franchise battles. Earthbound vs. Mother 3 might be a bit lopsided, and the same goes for Halo vs. Halo 2, but Super Metroid vs. Metroid Prime would be nice, Black/White vs. Gold/Silver/Crystal might be decent, and Kingdom Hearts vs. Kingdom Hearts II has the bonus of having had a high-profile contest match behind it. The fact that the original, which lost the match in question, has been much stronger so far in this contest makes it even more intriguing.
Also on the subject of "contest rivalries": Shadow of the Colossus vs. the Metal Gear Solid series. I think the best idea would be to recreate the most notable of those battles and pit it against MGS2, but really, any of the games would work. (Except for 4, which is in the same conference as SotC.) Meanwhile, MGS1 can take on MGS3 so we can see which MGS game is really the most beloved here.
As for what MGS4 would be doing during all of this...well, we could always send it against Sonic 3 & Knuckles. I'm sure that match would be at least somewhat more competitive than Snake's repeated beatings of Knuckles in the Character Battles. As for other Sonic things, SA2 definitely needs to face another Sonic game during rivalry week. I'd say go with SA1, because the other two namesakes of the "Sonic Overload" Conference have already faced it, and that way Colors can actually be fed a win against Sonic CD.
Last but certainly not least: Super Mario Bros. 3 vs. Super Mario World. They've never really had a conclusive battle in the contest setting thanks to lol4ways and SFF, so they could really use this opportunity. I'm just trying to figure out what we're supposed to do with SMW2. Its contest history is brief and involves getting fed to Chrono Trigger right away and SFFed into oblivion in Round 2 by SM64, and Yoshi's own contest history, though rich, contains few truly memorable battles (not even his duel with Missingno. was very memorable.) I suppose we could always try matching it up against Symphony of the Night, third place in said fourway, to see what happens when the two meet up without SMW2 getting Mario SFF from SM64 and SNES SFF from CT, but...it's kind of a weak justification.

So you can put CT against a fellow well-renowned Square SNES RPG, or you could have another Crono vs. Mario battle. Why not do both? Chrono Trigger vs. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.
(On the subject of Mario RPGs, obviously we need the original Paper Mario to go up against Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.)

LeonhartFour posted... A lot of those really huge marquee rivalry matches will be saved for the Week 30 blowout Rivalry Week extravaganza!
I suppose we could do Mario World vs. Yoshi's Island, but that might fall under "mean for no reason."
But if Yoshi's Island actually beats FFX this week, then I'll have a reason!
Ah. Okay, then, that makes sense. Yeah, a lot of those matches are more suited for the Week 30 extravaganza. I still like the SMW2 vs. SotN idea, though, and now that Symphony of the Night actually has a decent win, it no longer falls under the "mean for no reason" category to send it against yet another ranked game.
And I still think that the MGS4 vs. S3&K and FFVIII vs. SMS ideas were pretty funny, with the former actually being potentially a good match. Still, with MGS1 vs. MGS3 being more suited to Week 30, maybe it would be better to just pit MGS1 against MGS4 and MGS3 against MGS2 (because we already had 1 vs. 2 and 3 vs. 4 in Rivalry Week 1).
Also the SA1 vs. SA2. I'd save SA2 vs. Colors for Week 30.
