Maybe Bioshock is stronger, but Batman's resume looks a lot better to me.
Bioshock has ONE win over a game with a winning record, and that's Aria of Sorrow. Its lone loss was to Earthbound, which isn't a terrible loss, but it's not a great one either.
Batman has beaten DKC1 (which beat Earthbound, while we're at it), Fallout 3, and TTYD. Its lone loss was to MK64, which is probably about on the level to a loss to Earthbound, maybe a little better. Both were in Week 1, so it's excusable, I suppose.
Bioshock could win, certainly, but I'd favor Batman.
Is there anywhere I can go to see how this thing works? Does a loss by a big margin matter more than a small loss? Does a win over a popular game do more for you ranking than a win over an average game?

As far as the RPI is concerned, yes.
swirl can explain the RPI formula to you better than I can. That's his part.

Okay, I'll mention some random things about Super Metroid's turdiness.
When I saw that MGS2 had won, for some reason I was thinking "SOUND THE ALARM!!!" Nothing to do with outright hating the result (I absolutely don't mind it, and to boot I take back all my badmouthing of Skies earlier, seriously!), it was just out of thematics. Even now when I think about that result, I hear alarms, sirens, and stealth bombers. Oh wait, the game's name is "Sons of Liberty", so...FOR AMERICA!!!
And then I read "Super Metroid falls through the Portal and Aperture Science rises...the door is wide open for the debut of BioShock" and started thinking of an ocean laboratory for whatever reason.
And these two songs constantly played through my head:

Gears was winning by three votes last time I checked, too, but I guess I'll post the "joke" anyway even though I (sort of) already did AND it isn't fully true:
Games that lose their matches this week:
Super Mario 64 Ocarina of Time Super Metroid Final Fantasy X (lol this didn't come true either, entirely because of me!) Brawl
Games that win their matches this week:
Professor Layton and the Unwound Future Civilization IV Worms Armaggedon Knights of the Old Republic Gears of War
Oops.

"What a group"
Of this group:
-Chrono Trigger has looked really strong of course. -Path of Radiance struggled to defeat Shadow of the Colossus in week 3, and has generally drawn week competition. It too could turn out to be a fraud, and quite frankly, with all the anti-Nintendo sentiment, I honestly think Shadow of the Colossus could turn that result around now. -A Link to the Past struggled to break 55% on Knights of the Old Republic last week. -Twilight Princess struggled against Kingdom Hearts II and Link's Awakening, and has otherwise drawn extremely weak competition. We now know that 70% on Star Ocean 2 doesn't mean a whole lot, for instance. I'm quite frankly amazed that it managed to pull off that huge comeback against Suikoden II, though, and TP > OoT in the stats is a delight. -Mega Man 2...I have nothing to say. I don't think it has faced any particularly strong competition yet. -Metal Gear Solid 3 hasn't faced any particularly tough competition but has made up for it with hilarious blowouts. -Same with Resident Evil 4, really. I'd give it the slight edge over Snake Eater. -Paper Mario struggled to break 55% on a Grand Theft Auto game, which is effectively the same thing as losing. -Trials and Tribulations had that close-fought victory against Pokemon GSC a while back and I can't remember if it has faced any particularly tough opponents otherwise. I have a feeling that it will lose next week somehow. -Pokemon RBY of course narrowly stayed undefeated this week thanks to overtime.

LinkMarioSamus posted... On a side note, is it ironic that I beat both Chrono Trigger and Resident Evil 4 for the first time while this very contest was going on? That's nothing. This contest (somehow) got me interested in the Ace Combat series; I just bought this anime flight sim game by Project Aces a couple of days ago. Also, I only finished Chrono Trigger (the DS one) for the first time last month, so you're not alone there either lol.
I also found both games to be god-tier, no less. And...hey, they're undefeated in this contest! I honestly think they're the two strongest games at the moment.

That's not.... that's not ironic or coincidental or absolutely anything. You beat 2 of the most acclaimed games in history during a popularity contest that's been going on for 8 weeks now. You can beat each of them in under a day easily if you try.
Another question to ask: how the heck is StarCraft so weak here despite it being currently #1 in "Rate the Game"? And no, "this is different" is not good enough an answer, and if I hear that it's because people are anti-voting Blizzard, I'm going to...yeah.

As the current host of Rate the Game, don't put too much stock into the results from there translating to contests set up like this. That is based on a number system where all the other games are irrelevant while this is set up as an either/or, one-on-one matchup. I mean, Assassin's Creed II lost to FFVIII. FFVIII is starting to trend towards being in the Bottom 15 in Rate the Game but if and when I do Assassin's Creed II, I would imagine it would be a threat to enter the Top 15

"Anybody interested in grabbing a couple of burgers and hittin' the cemetery?" -Royal "Oh sure, walk to the sun"- Guybrush
Low scores mean a heck of a lot more than high scores in Rate the Game anyway.
Judging from that topic, FFVIII has more people who like it than don't, but those low scores are going to drag it down. Some games getting high scores means that a whole lot of people haven't played them (Half the games in the top 10 have 25 votes or less) or they just don't have many haters (or the haters didn't vote, for whatever the reason).
