Ok, Nintendo, we get it. Dragons were in scarce supply for the first two gens, you don't have to pump out lackluster ones to keep me happy. I kind of just feel like there's not really a "point" to Druddigon's existence. It looks meh, it's stats are ok, but worse than literally every other fully evolved Dragon type pokemon, and it doesn't evolve. Weren't two non-legendary Dragons enough this gen? At the very least I guess I can give it that I can look at it and immediately think of it as a dragon as opposed to every Legendary Dragon that isn't named Rayquaza.

I've been pretty unwowed by Beldum and it's family for a while. It's typing is kind of cool and it's design isn't really good or bad. I was thankful that I only had to raise one to 45 instead of 55 as per the typical pseudo legendaries. Strangely enough, the only pseudo-legendaries that Lance has never had in any of the games are Hydregion (we'll see Gray version) and Metagross, as he had all three dragons in the HG/SS rematch and he had a Tyranitar in Pokemon Stadium 2. From what I've seen Metagross is an absolute beast in OU, but I typically don't use pokemon I don't like just because they're good so the only time I've seen this is when one uses Meteor Mash and knocks the hell out of half of my team.

I've always wanted to like Castform. It's cute, has alt forms, and a pretty cool gimmick. But I don't really get why Gamefreak decided it needed to suck so much in battle. I can't get Smogon to load right now, but I know I've never even seen one used in UU. That and it's as if they consciously decided mid-programming that nobody would use one. I mean, it has alt forms depending on the weather and you don't give it a Sandstorm form? What the hell is that? I personally felt it was a crime that they didn't have a Fog and Shadow Sky form for it, but excluding Sandstorm is just stupid. Unfortunately it doesn't really show much room for evolution potential either. They could have been cool and done something with it similar to Burmy/Wormadon and had it evolve depending on which weather effect was going on at the time, but that ship has likely sailed and Castform is going to end up in no chance in hell at an evolution tier, with stuff like Unown and Rotom (not that Rotom needs and evolution with its alt formes, but just saying). Castform really deserves better, but I don't feel I can justify a higher ranking, so it sits in the 80s, forgotten, just like Gamefreak inevitably has done to it as well.

Golurk's pretty cool, I think. Sure the typing is weird, but I appreciate novel typing and I can understand how it got the typing it did. I also don't mind Druddigon. I don't think Druddigon is too terribly pointless compared with horrible wastes of space like Pachirisu and Unown (not to mention CHINGLING, AUGH).
Too bad Drifloon was ruined for you, he's kinda cute. Eh, what can ya do.
Shame about the whole Beheeyem/Reuniclus thing. I actually prefer Beheeyem, myself (not sure why Reuniclus has such a following). Bulbapedia says his weird colored hands are a reference to War of the Worlds.

I hope I'm not the only one, but it took me forever to figure out what the hell was going on with this In the original sprites, for some reason my brain couldn't connect that it was facing away from me. The enhanced graphics in the DS games has done wonders for it's looks and I definitely like it more than I did when I first saw it. It's also kind of cool that it was the only non-legendary pure steel type pokemon until Gen 5 when the Klink family was introduced. Unfortunately for Mawile, it kind of got the Farfetch'd treatment. A pokemon with no evolutionary family, crap stats, and overall nothing (as far as I know of) that makes it stand out in battle. It's a shame because I kind of like the design and it could go places if they gave it a chance, but it's not getting that opportunity. I suppose it's just as well though, as an evolution of it would probably just be something stupid like giving it TWO BIG MOUTHS! I'd much rather it stay in "kind of cool but I never see it in battle" status than "I hate this thing and see it every other battle because it's got good stats/moves" status

Wailord is really damn big. I mean Ridley looks at this thing and says "Holy crap that's big." New Pork City would be lucky to contain a Wailord. But unfortunately, that's really all it has going for it for me. I mean, with how many cool water types there are, Wailord being just a big ass whale, just didn't seem all that cool to me. I mean the "Hot Wailord on Skitty Action" jokes are kind of funny, but again it's just poking fun at how big it is. It really doesn't help that for some reason it's associated with the worst legendaries ever (**** the Regis, seriously) for no real reason. As far as battle goes, it was unfortunate enough to end up in the NU tier, which can probably be somewhat attributed to the fact that it can learn Self Destruct but not Explosion. The imagery of having the biggest pokemon ever blow up in your face is horrifying, but why not throw it a bone and give it Explosion?

LOL vague racism. It's brown and made of cotton! Ok, but seriously, I'm not hoping on that train. I feel incredibly meh about this Pokemon. As I stated, I'm not a big fan of grass types as a rule of thumb, so this guy naturally landed pretty low. It's certainly cooler than Jumpluff, which is sort of similar (yeah I know it's dandelions vs. cotton, but it's kind of the similar ). Being that I played white and didn't realize the ingame trade was available until after I beat the E4, so I didn't even really encounter one until it got to the point where I was just trying to complete the Pokedex, and even then it was just, grab cottonee, use sunstone, box. It's probably my fault, but Whimsicott just never really had a chance to do anything at all to wow me.

I honestly just now realized how much I dislike Meloetta. I really don't understand why I put it so high. There are a few things I hate about the newer gens... Here, I'll list them 1)The Legendary Explosion (seriously, 7% of all pokemon are "legendary" isn't that a bit much). 2)More Event Legendaries (When there was 1 in a generation that was bad enough, now we need 4?) 3)Forme Changes (The only ones I like are Rotom, if you're going to make new Formes, just make a new pokemon, especially when you have crap like Silcoon and Cascoon as separate pokemon) 4) Musicals/Contests/etc 5)Battle Subway/Whatever Hax
This pokemon alone falls under 3 of the things I hate and really doesn't have any redeeming qualities. Hell I could even give it that it has unique typing, but Girafarig already covers it's primary typing. It's forme change is also pretty stupid. I mean, I can't imagine it being easy to use considering you have to waste a move slot and an action to do it, and it'll probably land in Ubers or OU tier where both of these things are pretty crippling. At least Relic Song puts the opponent to sleep 20% of the time when she uses it, but I doubt that justifies it. I don't know why they didn't just make her like Deoxys and make the formes permanent. Maybe it is useable, but it seems like it would require more of a pain in the ass than most strategies and it would be easily anticipated. And why do we all of a sudden need another song pokemon? Was Jigglypuff all of a sudden not cutting it? And why is it not female? It's clearly a female but they made it genderless despite already giving several legendaries genders. Like I said, I don't know what possessed me to put this thing so high. If I'm looking at the list, it probably should have been somewhere in the 85-90 range.

See but that's the thing, the Lucario movie is probably one of the best ones. All you need in a gen is one trio, a leader, a Mew ripoff, and maybe another one if you've got a cool idea. In Gen 5, we got 2 trios, a quartet, a mew ripoff, and two miscellaneous free agents.

I think I remember reading that Meloetta's forme change lasts until you use the move again. Meaning, you can use Relic Song to get to whichever forme you want, and then forget the move and stay in said forme. I don't know if that really is the case, though, just something I read on the Black board. Could be wrong.
I dislike Meloetta because it's too human-like. Its hair clip also reminds me of the Playboy Bunny.

I don't mind too many event pokemon if they bring something new to the table. I had no problems with Darkrai/Shaymin/Arceus, as they each had some gimmick or something to bring that I found interesting to play around with.
I don't like Genesect. It seems too normal to be an event pokemon and it's signature move isn't that great either.

I think the biggest reason for the low ranking here is that I hyped myself up for Minccino. When it was first revealed, I thought it looked cute, yet not sickeningly so and could have some battle potential if it evolved. Looking back I was probably just fooling myself, but a chinchilla pokemon seemed like an awesome idea. Then I heard somewhere that it's name was going to be "Chillarmy" and it only got better because that's just an awesome name. Then it started falling apart for me. It ended up with a meh name, and an evolution that basically looks like Minccino is really clumsy and had trouble with the toilet paper, I mean just look at this thing...
I'm not wasting a moonstone on this thing when there are five other options (well I'd still throw one at it instead of Skitty). Cinccino's stats are nothing to write home about, it's movepool is horrid unless I'm missing something vital (what's with pokemon that can learn Sunny Day, but not any other fire move or Solar Beam, or a complimentary ability anyway?) and it just looks so bad, even if I would use a normal type pokemon, I'm going with Stoutland or Bouffalant any day of the week. Who knows, maybe I can dream that Minccino will get some kind of Togepi treatment and get a nice boost someday, but I'm not counting on it.

This is probably an unpopular choice but Quagsire has never really done anything to wow me. I remember its typing pissing me off in G/S because I always have an electric type in my team and never a grass type and it doesn't distinctly remind me of ground, though I can see the logic behind it and I won't condemn it for that. I guess for me, appearing in the same gen as Wobbuffet, Quagsire was always pretty underwhelming. The blue phallic pokemon quota was already filled by a pokemon who was constantly in the anime and a lot funnier. I believe a lot of people think Quagsire is cute, but I'm not really seeing it. I really just don't have much to say about the guy. If I were to do one of those Sporcle quizzes where you try to name all the pokemon from a generation, I'd probably not even remember Wooper and Quagsire.

I've always liked bug pokemon but I tend to not like the more typical typings as much. Pure Bug, Bug/Flying, and Bug/Poison fail to wow me in most cases (with a few exceptions) and Mothim is not one of them. Bugs like Volcarona or Forretress with more interesting typings tend to be among my favorites. It probably also doesn't help Mothim that every gen except gen 2 introduced a moth-like pokemon, so the originality factor was pretty low by then, as there were plenty of bug/flying types as well. It's also just another NU Pokemon. I don't know if I lean toward liking more "useful" pokemon for battles or not, but at the very least that seems to be the trend in the ones that were nominated. Another slight nuisance is that Mothim must be male, despite evolving from a pokemon that may be male or female. Although it's not necessarily a dealbreaker for me, it certainly makes it a pain in the ass if you really want to train one right. "Oh I finally got the right nature and some good IVs and oh, it's the wrong gender." If I'm recalling things correctly, the only pokemon with this potential problem are Mothim, Gallade, Vespiquen, Froslass, and Wormadon, although I'm probably forgetting someone. Not that I would train a Mothim anyway, but the potential frustration is not a point in its favor.

Dewott would have ranked higher, but not as high as Oshawott or Samurott. I always use the water starters, not because I have any loyalty to water or anything, but because I genuinely like them better in every generation. However, I tend to like the middle evolutions the least.. Though I am looking forward to Ash's Oshawott inevitably evolving, so it may go up overall in my rankings. Yes, Ash's Oshawott has to evolve damnit, he's blueballed water starters for too long.

You are missing something vital with Cinccino: its abilities. Technician and Skill Link (the latter of which is a DW ability and currently unavailable, but still) make great use of its multiple multi-hit attacks, Tail Slap, Rock Blast, and Bullet Seed.
With Technician, RB and BS will always have at least 75 base power, with the potential of max of 187.5 base power. Because of STAB, Tail Slap is guaranteed at least 112.5 base power, with a potential max of 281.25 base power.
With Skill Link, RB and BS are always 125 base power and TS is always 187.5 base power.
Rock Blast and Bullet Seed can also be super effective, for even more ridiculous power. If only it could learn Icicle Spear or Arm Thrust or something... It can learn Aqua Tail or Wake-Up Slap (only good with Technician) for a decent fourth move, though.
EDIT: It also evolves via a Shiny Stone, not Moon Stone. So its competition is Roserade or Togekiss...

Lol, middle evos are most often my favorites of their lines, and Dewott is no exception. But all the coocoon/shell-type pokémon and hideous things like Gloom most definitely are exceptions.
Though I am looking forward to Ash's Oshawott inevitably evolving, so it may go up overall in my rankings. Yes, Ash's Oshawott has to evolve damnit, he's blueballed water starters for too long.

Indeed, this needs to happen. Squirtle: Never evolved and eventually released. Totodile: Never evolved. Mudkip: Owned by someone who is not a main character and got next to zero spotlight probably, but at least it evolved once. Piplup: Owned by a main character, but guess what? Never evolved.
Yeah, I really hope they take Oshawott in a new direction. If any a Water starter deserved to evolve it was Squirtle or is Oshawott, plus Dewott is b****in' imho!

Venomoth just barely edges out Mothim in the best moth type on the list (personally I prefer Volcarona, but whatever). Most of what I said about Mothim can be applied to Venomoth. It's a pretty bland typing, and is unfortunate enough to end up in NU along with most bug types. Bug/Psychic is probably among the least useful typings in the game, which is unfortunate considering the number of them. Venomoth is another pokemon that could have been at least 4 types (Personally a Bug/Psychic would have been pretty cool IMO), not that I was ever confused about it since the first I remember seeing one was when Koga used it in the anime. Not that it really matters for Venomoth's ranking but Koga's pokemon are so horribly inconsistent across all the forms of pokemon media. Overall, I always wanted to like Venomoth, but I could never get off the ground with the idea (much like Venomoth itself apparently). Blame my power loving 8 year old self and the first gen game's horrible treatment of bug and poison types I guess.

I do like that Quiver Dance gave all of these winged Bugs something new to play with. Venomoth and Dustox can use it with any combination of Bug Buzz, Sludgebomb, Psychic, or Energy Ball (plus Shadow Ball for Dustox). Butterfree, Beautifly, and Mothim have Bug Buzz, Energy Ball, Psychic, and Shadow Ball (with Mothim getting additional STAB in Air Slash). Masquerain is even cooler with Ice Beam, Hydro Pump/Scald, Air Slash, Bug Buzz, Shadow Ball, and Energy Ball.

In fact where did it's legs go? I know Snivy is a "snake" but even it had legs. Serperior, to me is a big disappointment, as Snivy is in the top percentage of grass types and starters, but then it evolves into Grass-type Dragonair. I never bothered sitting down to figure it out, but estimating, I'd say that I probably only like 15-20 pokemon who are NFE more than their evolutions, and the Snivy family certainly falls into this category. I'm not even sure if "Smuggernaut" is still smug or if he's just a little pissed off because it lost it's legs in PokeNam.
