DarkFalconX posted... If the promo for South Pacific is any indication, it looks to me like the 2 returning players are going to be Eric from Micronesia and Matt from RI.
Oh. So it's Survivor: Dumb and Dumber.

Matt said he would never do Survivor again, which is why I'm hesitant to think that promo had any indication. Matt was more the token "RI" player this season, so I think that makes more sense as to why he was shown on the promo. Erik as well, a player who probably made the biggest blunder in Survivor history, would be due for a "redemptive" chance, so I can see why they'd show him too.
I think if Matt were to pull a more 'JT in HvV-like' persona he could be worth a return. I don't really care to see Erik come back and I honestly don't think he will, but who knows.
I'd personally rather see Matt and Andrea (even though I know this decision would get some flak).
It'll start taping next month, probably around the 14th. So about a month from now.
There's no indication on who is returning, yeah. However, I think it's worth noting that players like Erik, Shambo, Jane, and Brenda (and one last person IIRC) were brought up at the beginning of the season in those "What would have happened if they returned?" promos building up RI.
Do recruited people who never seen Survivor watch all the previous season before they go on the show? Would totally love it if they bring someone back and there are confused faces that say "who are these returning guys!?"

They only watch maybe 1 season. Russell only watched Micronesia (hence his attraction to Parvati), and I'm sure they gave out HvV to all the recruits for this season.
I don't think this is necessarily a "vs" thing unless they pick two people who feuded, like, say, Marty and Jane. Rob vs Russel was just because of the challenge at the finale. I think, strangely (since THIS season was called redemption) that they will be picking people who need "redemption" for some reason rather than a big fight.

If Ashley had won the final immunity challenge (and it appeared she was very close), do you think she would have won Survivor? I think Rob made a very underrated move in asking her to work together, it showed that he was committed to bringing her to the Final 3 with him and Natalie (even though he obviously wasn't). Do you think Rob was going home if Ashley won?
I think it could be either/or. This season was Rob v. Russell, but I hesitate to ever call a Matt v. Andrea over a Matt and Andrea (hence why I say Matt and Andrea, and not versus).
Either way, if it's a versus like this season, I'd hate to see Marty vs. Jane. Or any of the above, really.
I honestly don't know what the girls would have done had Ashley won the FIC. Natalie was very close to Rob and she probably would have voted with him to oust Phillip. It's very possible Rob could have misled Phillip into voting Natalie and gotten Natalie to vote with him against Phillip, with Ashley either voting against Rob or Phillip.
Essentially though I don't ever see Natalie getting taken out. Even while the episode was airing last night and I was running through the possible scenarios did I see Natalie reaching the FTC in every one of them (and this was with Andrea at the F5).

Yeah that's what I thought too. Phillip would have went and Rob still would have won. It actually probably would have been unanimous since Phil would vote for Rob and Ralph probably would too without Phil there.
It's amazing how there's still 9 people in the house and they all love each other (well, maybe sans Cowboy). I guess that's what happens when you find a common enemy in Jase/Scott and get to see them walk out back-to-back.
It was more ironclad than a backdooring. From the second Nakomis won HoH there was nothing Jase could have done to not be evicted.

Yeah, backdooring. They changed it now so that when you play for the veto, you can't directly pick who you want to play in it--instead you randomly draw names from a bag to prevent this kind of complete control.

I'm going to be disappointed if a few don't get in.
I wouldn't care to see Monica, Bunky, Dana, Erika, Nakomis, Diane, or Ivette get in. I also don't know a thing about George, but I'm pretty sure he gets in since BB1 needs a representative.
All you need to know about George from S1 is that despite being a 40 year old dude he pretty much did everything could do to have an absolute blast while he was in the house, including dying his hair green because people thought it would be funny.

Naomi_Diamond posted... actually how the heck did james or jase get more votes than will? again, wtf america.
People had just spent an entire season watching the Friendship be horrible people who constantly preached about how they were awesome and how no one in America could like the other side of the house.
It was like America's final middle finger to the Nerd Herd.

Yeah, Julie going out of her way to tell us that the nerd herd were the least likable alliance ever was funny. I can understand James getting in. I guess Will was just so far back in a lot of peoples memory.
