I definitely enjoy reading your analysis. I think on quite a few of them something is pointed out that I didn't catch the first time I watched, which is pretty cool.

It would be kind of interesting to see the number of views that topics get; I imagine the amount of people that read this (and other topics) is higher than you might expect.

And it certainly is understandable if you miss some weeks. I personally have been swamped this past week with finals related stuff.

Well yeah, so am I. >-> A few of them, anyway. Parvati, Andrea, and Fairplay come to mind. Mind you, Andrea has a "fan" Facebook page, which isn't the same as her real one.

Twitter is a bit different, though. It's one thing for someone to accept your friend request on Facebook, but it's another for them to go out of their way to follow you. How often do you have a Survivor contestant friend requesting you on Facebook? Probably never. Same for me. In this case, however, Andrea did the opposite of what usually happens.

Indubitably.

Ever since Russell was eliminated did I have a feeling that the edit would escalate into a "Who's gonna take out Rob?" position - only it wasn't going to be told to us, because this seasons story isn't about how Rob lost, it's the story of how Rob won. So, instead, we're seeing "RI and Matt could be a huge threat!" and "Is Phillip really crazy, or just pretending?" to foray doubt, like sprinkles on the bulk of the cupcake. The cupcake being 'how Rob finally won Survivor' - this episode capitalized on it with a capital C.

Andrea got the worst edit out of everyone remaining this episode. Shown to be the fool, the editors basically knifed her in the gut for supporting Ometepe to the very end. Her reunion with Matt next episode may very well be her last. It was difficult on some level to figure out of Andrea's edit was her own edit or simply built toward Matt - had it been her own, she'd have had a building story that could have lead further toward a win; however, after episode 8 (the merge), after her big move of betraying him and being edited with absolutely no negativity to it, she disappeared from the map and - from what I thought may have been shielding her from negativity - turned out to be her edit dwindling into the 'loyal Rob camp' edit alongside the rest. The only sign that she may return from RI is that she has been shown to be a hard worker who doesn't quit - especially in the last immunity challenge - and may put up a fight at the duels. Otherwise though, her edit was intertwined to be all about Matt, not her own, and so I don't see any sort of hope for her now. She isn't winning, and it's doubtful that she even returns to the game.

Some people want to attach themselves to the thought that "there's no way Rob could win" and likewise turn to "I jokingly hope Phillip somehow wins", and while I'd laugh heartily at seeing Phillip win, it still isn't happening. Phillip serves to exist as doubt for Rob's chances should they both make the final three (and believe, they both will), but the biggest issue with Phillip once again showed up this episode. Phillip became a complex character halfway into the pre-merge, startling backing up his terrible social skills with strategy-talk, telling us that it was actually all on purpose, that he's not actually this crazy. The problem? As Rob says, he's a talker - but what's been shown is that he does the opposite of what he says. Sure, he can tell us he's got a master plan going, but can he convince the jury? No, and he won't. It's in the editing. He says "I'm going to let my enemies make the first move" - but then he himself makes the first move unintentionally. He did it this episode, first telling us about his strategy to tell the jury "I have a strategy all along", only to then basically tell Probst at the tribal council how he actually is a threat. Probst mocks him and says "Phillip, I'm making the argument that the reason to keep you is because you aren't a threat, and you raise your hand and say, 'I'm a huge threat, I just haven't had the right challenge!'" D'oh. Good one Phillip. Whatever happened to not giving yourself away?

Grant's edit is short and simple. He's effectively going to be the assassin who takes out the bad guys for Rob when necessary. He will probably prevent the RI returnee from doing so at the F5 immunity challenge. And then, once his purpose is done with, so will his story of being said assassin. Will he vote for Rob? Probably yeah. He's gonna respect him. This ain't personal.

Ashley... just yeah. She's not the sweetheart. We received her lazy edit early on to prevent that, though she's warming up a bit. Same with Natalie, for the most part. Natalie is getting a bit more because she's gonna go farther! But she's not gonna win because she hasn't done much and likewise has no story to look back on.

Ralph almost had something good going for him until he chastised Mike for his decision at the family reward. Not a good moral decision on Ralph's end. Ralph however did bring up the notion that a Zap could possibly reach the end, so what could that mean?

Cyclo, guess what - I'm predicting that Mike returns. Yep, Matt doesn't return from Redemption Island. Only thing is that we heard some backlash on his decision to reduce his overall appeal, as Mike isn't winning the whole thing. He'll probably go at F5 once he returns. Likewise, his edit has been toned down so as to reduce the desire for a majority of the fans to see him go far - he doesn't really have much of an impact and thus he gets edited down to consolidate this, reducing hype. But he'll still take out Matt, which should be a huge deal for the fans when it happens. Mike will be that Zap that possibly gets to the end, providing plenty of doubt for Rob's chances in the finale, but it won't happen, and Mike will come short of reaching the FTC. Shame, he's one of my favorites this season.

And then Matt, the little train who [almost] could. Mike is taking over his edit as the good Christian guy, as Matt will learn through Mike what 'good' Christian values really are. Matt disagreed with Mike's choice - not a good thing for Matt, the guy who's supposed to be built as loving and good-natured. Matt however did get to see his brother (that was his brother, right?) and that helped to close out his story. Closure with Andrea will probably seal the deal on any lose ends.


Just a quick rundown on what I predict will happen:

Either Ralph or Andrea get eliminated next episode. Ashley gets voted out.

Finale: Mike returns, not Matt, and is eliminated after losing the F5 immunity challenge. Then Grant leaves at the F4.

Phillip receives no votes, Natalie may receive a vote, while Rob receives the bulk of the rest.

Survivor: Redemption Island (Is Phillip really a former federal agent?!)

Mind you, all of this is speculation. I could easily be wrong. I can think of scenario's where Matt comes back and possibly wins, or even Andrea possibly coming back. It's just likelihood based on what I've interpreted.

Natalie would definitely get Ashley's vote and I think probably Andrea's. Would Zapatera really vote for Rob though after they were so adamant on getting Russell out?

I don't think Natalie can really win. I do think she'll get close, and like Naomi said they will definitely try to put to the fear into Rob's game - especially during the FTC, I imagine.

But Probst seems to like this season far too much for a Natalie win to happen.

After watching this latest tribal council and him saying something along the lines of "..make one mistake and poof there goes your chances of winning", I would be surprised if Rob won. This episode, it looked like they were trying to set up Natalie for the win.

Yeah 6 was pretty good. I actually thought I would hate Janelle (7 was the first season I watched and I didn't like her) but when I actually watched 6, I thought she was awesome. Definitely a love or hate character depending on which side of the house she ended up on, and since Howie was my favorite, Janelle was definitely a close 2nd. I was liking her more and more as the early part of the season went on, and then there was her drunken deva fight with Beau and the *pretends to think about who to nominate as if she didn't already know exactly what she was going to do*... "Jennifer!" moment.

Howie was still the best though.

I really want to watch 7 again. I enjoyed it so much without even knowing who any of the players were, and now that I've watched 2-6, it should be that much more awesome.

Well, that's what they want the audience to feel as well! The same went for Russell in Samoa. We were supposed to feel like any other option would be a huge disappointment - all thanks to the editing.

I wouldn't be disappointed with anyone winning, really. It's Survivor. I'm okay with anyone winning, because it takes a lot to do that.

Oh, and his flip out on April? loved it. A bit harsh, but that's BB. Dick was even worse.

well, in all fairness, April accused America's vote of being rigged because she felt that if Americans actually liked Janelle, they didn't exist... or soemthing stupid like that. I don't remember how she worded it exactly, but she was an inexusable f***ing moron and her not being on the show any more was probably the equivalent of an AIDS patient not having AIDS anymore...

seriously. 2 was f***ing awesome. In most seasons of reality shows, it is hard to really like people who seem to hate each other. It's one side vs. the other... but in 2, people on opposites sides who couldn't stand each other were not only equally awesome but actually worked together (and trusted one another when that was a really bad idea). For an early reality tv season, this one had people who knew how to play and the best of them was the best in it...

6 was almost as good, but the sides were just too divided. I couldn't appreciate enemy sides equally because one side was too busy worshipping Eric's dick like it was a home run bat that won a world series. Seriously, the crying over "Cappy" was the 3rd most pathetic bulls*** in big brother history, just behind "Jesse's funeral" from season 11 and Amber from season 8... who was Amber from season 8 >_>

after that, it doesn't matter really, 3 was a bit weird (from Gerry's emotions to "vote someone back in" to can't veto yourself to final 5 blooper, Jason being boring and weird lopsided final vote...)

4 went from crazy to facepalm to lol mantroll to another facepalm to good for them for getting that far to *sigh* to predictable to eventual winner pwns runner up in awesome jury questioning to solidify awesomeness in season.

5... Interesting cast. Best character out too early, but several others make it a long way. Mediocre winner, but good runner up and 75% of the people who finished 3-6 where all awesome (with f***ing dumb unfunny Karen being the other 25%)

So back on the topic of survivor. Am I the only one annoyed about them bringing another pair of former contestants back next season? At least do something interesting with it and bring back people who were taken out of the game for medical or other reasons like that. I would love to see the other Russell get a chance to play again.

I'm torn.

On one hand, there's a few people I'd like to see come back, and therefore I'm okay if I see them; on the other, however, there's a lot of people I'd rather not see, and I have a gut feeling it'll probably be any one (or two!) of them. I really don't see myself getting too excited for anyone other than maybe 1 or 2 people returning. I think it's fun to see familiar faces, but at the same time you just know they're gonna hog a lot of camera time only because they're returners.

I was happy to hear "16 players" and a little sadder to hear "and 2 returning players."

I just wish they would bring back the final 2, although it looks like it probably isn't happening yet again. I'm not sure how I feel about returning players- it probably makes for better TV at the expense of game purity.
