uses 95% of all his funds to get KFC for the rest of his life to combat world hunger, with the other 5% for himself. Makes a Twitter post saying he had two goals. 1) to help combat world hunger and 2) he hates PETA so he wanted to spite them.
How pissed off would PETA be and what would KFC look like as a business?

Well, the employees would be needlessly stressed and still not making the poverty line in wages, and the CEO(s) of the company would be flaunting their success all the while, making themselves look shiny as all get-out in terms of public image. No one would care about what PETA has to say except for PETA.

I'm not sure how many billionaires actually have billions in assets... I'm sure there definitely are some, but it seems like lately all the billionaires in the news are based solely on company valuation and not assets.

Because your post wasn't stupid enough, you don't know how franchising works. KFC may be even more heavily franchised than McDonald's. The rank & file workers at the KFC you likely never go to anyway have zero connection to the CEO of Yum! brands. Yum! makes its money off the franchisees -- which includes guys stuck working at their location 7 days a week because they can't afford help -- rather than the end-customer in the vast majority of cases.

The logistics involved in the hypothetical are also baffling, since many of the areas with food insecurity don't have KFCs.

Pretty sure people with food outlive people who starve to death.

Also this. The conventional notion of a billionaire is somewhat meaningless.

Literal starvation is extremely rare with food banks. Those food banks would stop being around if KFC was doing the legwork.

I like how whenever you don't have a legitimate or valid response, you opt instead for "oh lawdy" or cuing a laugh track. I like this because it tells me there is no suitable reason to continue the conversation or remind you, for the umpteenth time, what the actual facts are on certain matters. It saves me time and energy.

This even says nothing for against what I had actually said. Which is classic Zeus, misrepresenting what's been said as if it were an argument against the honest truth.

So yeah, I'm not going to bother responding further.

I'm sorry, do you live in some sort of fantasy world where KFC does pay a living wage and where KFC corporate wouldn't allocate only the absolute bare minimum number of employees needed to spend their entire shifts producing this $950 million worth of chicken?

Count_Drachma posted...
Also this. The conventional notion of a billionaire is somewhat meaningless.

You keep parroting this "technically they don't have $1 billion in liquid assets!" nonsense as though those that qualify as billionaires don't have vastly more purchasing power (and therefore pretty much every other kind of power) than any ordinary citizen could ever dream of attaining. Not being able to liquidate their entire fortune overnight does absolutely nothing to change that underlying fact. Bringing it up every single time anyone discusses billionaires is completely missing the point of pretty much everything everyone is saying and I really don't know why you have such a hard time understanding this.

$950,000,000 would only buy about 38 million 8-piece chicken meals, assuming $25 each. That's not going to make a very big dent in world hunger at all, and it's not even that many chickens (Costco sells 100 million rotisserie chickens every year).

If a billionare really wanted to feed the world/hungry, it would take much more then a few billion to do it even for 1 year.

We are almost at 8 billion people on this planet. if you JUST wanted to feed all of them for 1 week, and you could do so for only $10 a person (including costs to ship it/make it/grow or breed it etc) which is insanely low, it would cost about 560 billion dollars.

Even if you said half the people on the planet are well enough off that they would turn their noses up at a free meal......that still would would bankrupt the top 3 people in the world. Two weeks would make all 10 of the richest people in the world broke.

Now, if instead you started creating companies that made food and sold it at cost (including labor etc), that you could do with a few billion and help tons of people. Mark up on most places is so freaking insane, and if you did that, you would force prices down for others as well, dropping the cost of food everywhere pretty much. In the end you would actually help way more people. Top that off by actually paying your employees a decent wage (and it still would probably be half the price food is currently), and you would really make the world a better place.

Amazingly, not one billionare has done anything like that, even though it would be at cost and not actually cost them anything, it just wouldn't make them a huge profit.
