Eh, there have been enough people defending the murderers that I wouldn't have been surprised if one or all of them got off. I'm glad they didn't. You talking about the other guy, not the father-son duo, right? Well, in his case Im sure the jury weighed the fact that the video wouldnt be possible without him but Im also sure they weighed in that terrible haircut, and passed judgement accordingly.

Felony murder is bs and should be removed entirely or significantly nerfed. But it exists to punish minorities more harshly, so the irony of it being used to really seal the fate of a trio of white racists is pretty amusing.
Also, he did use his car to box in Arbery to prevent him escaping. So this is actually a pretty fair usage of felony murder.

I really thought he'd avoid the murder charges, going into the trial. Absolute moron, he could've turned against the other two and tried to plea to the lesser charges. Instead, he went down w/ both of them and will probably be in prison till he's dead.
He actually did try for a plea deal... late last week, deep into the trial... After seeing Travis shit the bed on the witness stand in real time. Needless to say, way too late for that now!

I think all of the relevant details that led to this verdict are there. Certainly, nothing was missing from that that might make yelling "F***ing n*****" after shooting a black man dead not be indicative of a deep undercurrent of racism in the shooter's actions, so trying to defend it as "frustration because an innocent man being chased by three armed dudes trying to run him over with their trucks didn't surrender" pretty clearly indicates a bias in the favour of the lynch mob.

for some reason, and it might be too much TV, I thought they normally had to announce prior to the trial if they were seeking a death penalty so the jurors knew the stakes at least.

So felony murder in Georgia is when you kill someone, intentional or otherwise while you're committing another crime. Malice murder is when you intentionally kill someone. He was found guilty of both, and the felony murder was a guilty charge because he was committing other crimes like false imprisonment and aggravated assault.

It was phrased awkwardly in the article I was reading. In the list of what they were charged with they called out felony murder and malice murder separately, but when they got to what each defendant was convicted of, they listed it as two counts of felony murder and no mention of the malice murder.

The guy who shot though IS guilty of malice murder on one count.

He was like a good 30 meters away from where the scene was even happening, at least in the video and was unarmed. Merely, following a person in car is not a crime, otherwise all the paparazzis would be in jail. In addition to having a terrible hair cut, the dude had a terrible lawyer.

No. He was an active participate in the murder. He wasn't filming for evidence, he was filming for pleasure. He didn't alert the police or try to stop the murder. He just helped his friends murder someone, filming it for prosperity.
