When I was little I mostly played JRPG. Nowadays, JPRGs is still my favorite genre but I've expanded a bit. My second favorite would be simulation, followed by adventure (including VNs) and probably action. I still can't really get into FPSes, racing, and sports.

i've gotten more selective and stuck in my ways.

as a kid, i remember i used to be able to play action games, now i'm so bad at them i just avoid them.

used to play some fighting or racing games as a kid but i haven't in years. never touched sports, FPS, or sim though, and still haven't.

mostly only JRPGs, platformers, card games, visual novels, and occasionally rhythm/puzzle for me. hasn't changed in a loooong time.

In the 90s I was really into WRPGs and RTS games. Now I almost never play either of those genres... although this might be attributable to the fact that those genres have changed so much since then. I do not think my tastes have changed much else besides that. Less into JRPGs now too, I guess.

Didn't really touch rpg or strategy games growing up. Just didn't see the appeal of them. Only one i played was FF8.

Generally, yes, although some genres that have become more defined or prevalent have taken a stronger position in the rankings.

Hmmm, I still like the same genres overall, but I've really gravitated to shorter experiences, which means I'm playing a lot more action games than RPGs these days. It's starting to get tough for me to get into a 40 hour experience, let alone 100.

I've cooled on jRPGs and Strategy RPGs

I've warmed on Fighting and Action

But I don't think that's a result of my tastes fundamentally changing-- it's the games themselves. I can still fire the old RPGs back up and I can still be captured by a new gem. I still find I like old fighters, just not as much as PS2 Era+ ones.

No genres have I really flipped on my head on.

I think I've definitely gotten more open to other genres over time but I still always gravitate towards 3rd-person action/adventures the most

JRPGs have always been my favorite with platformers coming in second place, and that still holds true. These days I'm more likely to go outside that comfort zone for highly touted games, though, due to being a little more confident in my ability to finish them than I used to be.

Always liked platformers, fighters, and party games. Never liked FPS or PC games in general. Grew to love RPGs in my teenage years and VNs in my adult years. Used to love sports games but I never play them anymore.

I used to not like open world games but I grew to appreciate them more later on. Also I never played Metroid or any Metroidvanias growing up but I recently got into them

Can't think of anything I like less than before

Yeah I think I like genres now that I didn't before, mostly because I just hadn't found games of those genres that clicked with me. And I guess a genre can fall out of favor with me, but that's more because of design trends going in a direction I may not like, like I'm not as into modern JRPGs as I am with ones of the 16-bit era but that's just because of the new games not being my thing. I still like the same games I used to, they're just not being made that way as much anymore.

No, I've switched as games have come to reflect what I'm interested in more. In the broadest possible terms, I like games with some sort of persistent growth and build choices that influence gameplay. Originally it was really just rpgs that did this, but now a wide variety of more action-oriented titles let me get that without being bored by terrible stories and tedious gameplay.

From about 5-11 years old I enjoyed 3D platformers the most (Crash, Spyro, Sonic, Gex would be the top ones), as well as racing and fighting games.

12 on, survival horror became my new favorite genre and it has been since then. And then when Halo 3 & CoD4 came out, FPS became one of my favorites too. I don't really play a lot of 3D platformers anymore but I still like racing and fighting games quite a bit.

But I graze a bit of every genre nevertheless.

I've always liked videogames and will try everything.

But I've always liked competition video games. We have (essentially) the games now that I dreamed of as a kid.

As a kid I liked RPGs and strategy games, but I can't stand those anymore. I only play action-y stuff nowadays. I'd be fine never playing another turn-based game as long as I live.

I used to like all sorts of genres, but now it's mainly RPGs and visual novels. Action-based games aren't that fun for me anymore. Basically, I'm the opposite of DeepsPraw, haha...

Hard to say, I don't really think I'm that tied to specific genres. I guess platformers have always been my jam, plus the every now and then JRPG that I end up loving.

I might've played more FPS in the late 90s / early 00s, not as much as they became a whole online ordeal.

I feel like I've only opened up to more genres as I've gotten older, though my favorites have definitely shifted. For one, my all time favorite genre, character action, didn't even exist when I started playing games.
