I don't think you need to apologize for standard "girls are like this, but guys are like this" jokes because they offend gender-fluid people. People who managed to turn it into successful careers in the past are finding it harder and harder to generate revenue every day. When you reach the point where you're working twice as hard to make half as much money, you probably start to think about giving up on the whole thing. And if you're already sitting on a giant pile of "fuck you money", it's a lot easier to get out now when you're still relatively on top and can exploit what's left of your entertainment cred into other projects outside the Internet than sticking around until you've used up most of the good will and prior attention and are just a has-been looking for loose change. If you openly say "Hey guys, I'm deliberately stepping away from YouTube because of X, Y, and Z", it keeps people spending the next few years trying to figure out if you died of some illness or got murdered or were kidnapped and brainwashed by some sort of cult. Ironically, depending on your ego and what you want out of the situation, walking away without a goodbye might actually be the more valuable option, because it will help perpetuate your reputation even after you're gone. You don't literally have to be "cancelled" by cancel culture in order for cancel culture to drive you away. If anything, that's the real problem behind that mentality. It's not the people they actually manage to get fired/ostracized, it's the people they terrify into silence or conformity by virtue of constant harassment to the point of bordering on terrorism. She seemed like a lousy vlogger from the one or two videos I had watched (the fact that YT kept recommending her was YT's fault) and, having learned more about her, she seems like a lousy person as well. She's already had more good fortune than she deserves without really working for anything.
