MATCH 1

Hmm, maybe me saying that I'm in the mood for softer music is actually pretty accurate because I'm liking Don't Speak Her Name a lot more now than I remember liking it in the previous match! This actually makes the match a lot closer than I anticipated, but it's still a pretty easy vote for Infestation for me. I just find Infestation to be the more enjoyable song here. I can't really pinpoint a specific reason for why I like it more, so I'll just leave it at that.

MATCH 2

Once again, Confronting Myself is something I mainly like for the "HEEEEYYY YAH" parts. The rest of the song I'm not that big on. In contrast, Killing Two Birds is pretty good throughout, so my vote is pretty easy to decide here as well.

Calamity x FE part 1 is... closer than I expected? :crab: might have shrunk on me a bit, but it still has some really good bits that put it over.

I feel like I would like KTB a lot more if it -didn't- have the electric guitar, which might be a first. not huge on CM but at least I remember more than a repetitive guitar riff two minutes later

both crab and confronting myself are GOOD tracks, crabulon edm, confronting myself weird vocals. killing two birds is also good, but confronting myself feels more 'unique'. i've played both ahit and celeste and maybe it's cause oif the contrast in confronting myself to the rest of it's soundtrack; as well as where and how it plays ingame. the track doesn't continue until you progress through the part it plays in.

killing two birds plays in a challenge mode, and melds with the rest of ahit's ost fairly well. don't speak her name is pretty sleepyepic for a lot of it, and since it's against crab; it's a clear vote for me.

Love Don't Speak Her Name, but this is an easy choice because I'll always take good and upbeat over good and atmospheric.

I nearly considered this to possibly be another example of "says something, is instantly proven wrong", but then Killing Two Birds decided to do a fade-out not even half a minute in and come back as something different. So it might be more upbeat than Confronting Myself, but it's not that good!

Infestation is fun enough, but I don't think it ever really ascends to a "great song" - too much of it sounds samey. Still, there are parts I like, like that piano, the piano is good. Good piano. I don't like the glitchy breakdown as much. I tell myself that I have to be in the right mood to appreciate eight minutes of Don't speak her name, but that mood never seems to happen.

If the beginning of Confronting Myself (EEEYYYY-YAH!) lasted longer, it would probably be in my top five of the remaining songs. But I find the main synth throughout the song irritating, and it holds the song back a lot. Still, great atmosphere. Likewise, if the beginning of Killing Two Birds was basically the entire song (I think it's not even technically the same song?), it would do better. I don't like what Killing Two Birds offers nearly as much as Confronting Myself though - it feels like the song runs out of ideas quickly.

Match 1:

Crabulon is good trance, it's excellently crafted and it only gets better over time (even if it actually takes over 2 minutes to truly get better). I underestimated Don't Speak Her Name! since I haven't found a single FE: Awakening song that I'd consider truly great as it tends to go for the classical music approach which I'm not always too fond of. DSHN! is also well-crafted, and has many facets to it, which I appreciate (I think it would rock in-context, or while planning battles in-game). But hey, Crabulon even has its claws within the theme! It still kind of hurts my ears, but it may just be the kind of earphones I'm using, I'm not too sure...

Match 2:

Confronting Myself vs. I'll Face Myself would've been great... but for the names only, IMO. Anyway, I don't like this particular match so much because both songs sound good but they also sound or do things that I don't quite like, and they are very close to each other in quality IMO. For example, I don't like Confronting Myself's overall sound chip choice, or Killing Two Birds using the ominous low guitar as an actual basis for the song instead of doing other things that could benefit the song even more. Sure, it's a good rave song, but it could do better.
