I don't think that poll is clearly worded. Anyways, I support lifting the ban. I think it was insanely stupid and discriminatory to enact in the first place and relied heavily on fear-mongering and plucking the heartstrings of moral guardians. As such I have no qualms of lifting the ban and, if it needs to be banned again, banning it for actual reasons as opposed to basically going 'Think of the children!'

Cannabis was originally banned in the United States because fuck Mexicans. No seriously, that's the reason. It's also why we call it marijuana. It's all a racist policy and has been from the beginning. It's terrible. It was about protecting women and children, but specifically from Mexicans.

On topic, I don't use cannabis nor care to, but it should be as legal as alcohol. It's certainly safer. Trump isn't doing anything to work toward that, to my knowledge, and doing one good thing doesn't make him a good President.

He didn't denuke NK. They've promised the same thing 6 times since 1992. There were no specifics. No time table. It's literally nothing.

Secondly, Sessions is ferverently anti marijuana. There's no indication that this will change.

The democrats had 8 years under Obama to legalize cannabis and failed to even attempt to do as much. The only facet of legalization that they support is the potential for tax revenue. If Trump legalized it nationwide I would be strongly in favor of it, and despite many other complaints about his presidency, between that and the thousand dollar bonus I got after the tax cuts, I would be quite pleased that he beat out Hillary

You're thinking of the difference in penalties between cocaine and crack, which indeed was to hurt black people. And on the matter of cannabis, it was quite explicitly made illegal to fuck over Mexican Americans. This is so well-known that searching just now for "why is cannabis illegal in the us", the first result's blurb (from History.com) was:
"Fear of Mexican immigrants led to the criminalization of marijuana."

So no, just because you don't know the history of something doesn't mean it's paranoia. It was a conspiracy, but a real one. They do happen, and our country has a long and storied tradition of fucking over minority communities.
