Cider Time didn't do much for me, whereas LWC is a solid #2 on Persona 5's OST.
I'm not really feeling the Game Boy sound or I'd probably really like New Messiah. Sunshine Coastline is great though.
Soaring is really cool. Kinda sad I didn't support it now. >_>

Tough draw for Cider Time. There's a time when that would have been an easy Life Will Change vote for me, and I thought it was still that time, but I apparently have cooled on it significantly. Still good though.

Cider Time ~ Didn't we already have that Persona song? Because it sounds just like the other Persona songs...

Sunshine Coastline ~ I don't know what it is about this one, but I just like it.

super easy. all three of these are top-tier, and their competition just doesn't match up in every case. the gurumin song especially. can i vote for STtSBS to replace life will change actually thank you. really good day

Life Will Change is awesome. Sunshine Coastline is also awesome, probably even more so. Their opponents are fine, inoffensive. Wasn't really a competition. I really like the Gurumin song too, this is totally my thing. Road to Droog... well, it's kind of catchy and nicely upbeat, but I was really impressed by Soaring first. Good day overall, no bad songs and three great ones.

Match 1: Life Will Change

No contest here. Life Will Change is the best song on Persona 5's soundtrack. Cider Time is a really chill sounding song, but it just doesn't compete with Life Will Change's hype.

Match 2: New Messiah

This one is actually kind of hard. Both songs are really hype sounding, so it was a tough call but I give a slight edge to New Messiah.

Side Bracket: Road to Droog

This one was also kind of hard. Both songs were kind of cool, and I initially gave the edge to Sad Blue Skies, but that bass in Road to Droog. Gotta give it to the bass.

Life Will Change is great. Just listening to it normally is really good, and in context it's one of the most effective hype-generating songs that I know of, if not the most effective. Cider Time is a nice atmospheric song but is definitely not the best Dustforce song I've heard. And honestly any of the Dustforce songs that I have heard would also be way out of their league in this match anyways, since Life Will Change is one of my favorites in the contest.

Sunshine Coastline is a pretty cool song even if I don't think I like it quite as much as the rest of this board does. On the other hand it's opponent is a Game Boy song, which is pretty much strikes 1, 2, and 3 already. There are rare exceptions to that, but this isn't one of them.

There's a few things I feel a bit "meh" about in the Gurumin song, but there's also a lot I really like. In particular the guitar part at 0:43 and elsewhere is pretty rad. I don't like Road to Droog at all.

Cider Time is pretty nice and chill! I could feel myself relax as I listened. Felt good on the ears. Unfortunately... it just didn't stand a chance against Life Will Change. No detailed writeup. Almost anything again Life Will Change in R1 was going to be fodder.

I swear, every song with "sunshine" or "sun" in it has the same chord progression, no matter what key. This one I like particularly well, though. The melody kind of reminded me of something that might play for Dizzy in Guilty Gear, just not as metal? I'm probably dead wrong because I'm awful at music. The Castlevania song would probably be fine if it weren't for the soundfont grating me. I don't hate all of that soundfont's music, so I don't know why this one got to me. Maybe it's just today.

Soaring goes places. Road to Droog is kind of a snorefest.

Life Will Change - Man this Cider Time track is blah. I feel like there are similar songs I like, but this one has nothing going for it. LWC is my favorite Persona 5 track, so easy match.

Sunshine Coastline - I like a lot of Castlevania songs a good amount, but most of the nominations for this contest are huge misses? Not sure what's wrong with the nominators here. Sunshine Coastline is my favorite Ys 8 track, so easy match.

Soaring Through the Sad Blue Skies - It's a lot of fun other than going on a little too long. Droog's pretty solid for a random SNES game song too.

There are very few songs in this contest I'd take over Cider Time; this wasn't one of them.

I usually love Game Boy soundtracks, but somehow the Belmont's Revenge soundtrack (at least the songs that were nominated) just never really worked for me. Don't know why.

Second match is the hardest match in R1, these are both great. I actually remember voting against Sunshine Coastline last year in R1 too, sad because I really like this song!

Great side match too, I think STtSBS is my favorite entrant in its bracket so far!

a lot of people are disagreeing with me on this in disco(rd) but I actually do consider all the p5 tracks in the contest other than rivers in the desert to be some of the most similar-to-each-other sounding things in the contest to ME anyways.

I wasn't in Discord for this conversation, but I do think Last Surprise and Life Will Change are pretty similar sounding. I don't think Beneath the Mask is particularly similar to either, but it's also probably closer than a song from the contest picked at random I guess.

-First match: Something I don't quite like about Persona 5 (from the 3 songs I've heard from it) is that they sound kind of similar to each other. Either way, both songs are okay-ish.

-Second match: I've been a fan of the Ys series in terms of music since many years now, and having read that many votes supporting Sunshine Coastline, I had my expectations kind of high. Sadly, as much as I like those kind of rock tunes, this one, though magical, sounds pretty generic at times. It also doesn't help that New Messiah is probably the best 8-bit song I've ever heard.

-Third match: Okay... Here's the thing: Soaring Thorugh the Sad Blue Skies is catchy, upbeat, and has a kind of nice instrumentation. BUT, Brain Lord's OST is to me like Secret of Mana's OST is to azuarc, and Road to Droog just casually happens to be my favorite of it all. So... yeah.
