I did the Spider-Man ride and it was fun, but obviously the Spider-Man ride at Universal Orlando clears it every time. It's one of my favorite rides and the standard for the 4D experience.

I still think the Avengers Compound is fun, and going on the Guardians ride a second time was a completely different experience because of different scenes and music (I sorely missed Drax beating the monster, demanding us to thank him, and then cackling madly).

But I assume they're working to make Avengers Compound bigger and better. But for kids, it's a blast. And they put a lot of effort into choreography and making sure there's characters out there to perform. It's hard to hate it. It could be better, for sure, but I'm sure they're working on that.

Not to get too off topic, but I prefer the Avengers area to Star Wars area. I don't care about roleplaying with the street sweeper while I'm just trying to find your ride. Millennium Falcon ride is cool, but would be cooler without these roles and interactive bits. I just don't get the point. And it's not very fun.

The Resistance ride that came out was incredible. One of the best I've been on. Love it entirely. Except I don't need to play along and watch the IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE before I got to go on your dope ass ride. Get rid of most of that and I love the ride a lot more.

IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE kills a lot of stuff for me because I just want to get on the ride. Explain the whole story without the nonsense, before putting me in another line to see the rest of the attraction. It's not too much to ask.

YeahI don't know what they were thinking of with that one. It is really lame by birthday party standards.

Literally launched with DLC.

But ithas been discovered that while they will raise your average score if you know all the scene objectives the addons actually give a small disadvantage for the highest of high scores.

Pilot is good, if you didn't pilot request pilot. The other two roles are trash.

You have to think of Rise more like the haunted mansion. The pre show and rotating platform are really just part of the line. You'd just be waiting longer in a line without them. They have a larger capacity than the attraction itself.

Interrogation was cooler before the speakers blew out. Or maybe people complained about the noise being too loud I'm not sure.

You would think so but it launched like this and there haven't been any real updates.

They opened 1 additional merch store but really it was just a smaller version of a larger merch store they closed down elsewhere in the park.

The most recent Marvel movies or D+ shows sometimes get a character out for a day or weekend but it comes out of their promotional budget and then those characters are never seen again.

See, this part I don't think is true. I saw a wide spread of characters in one day.

Hawkeye
Kate Bishop
Dr. Strange
Spider-Man
Captain America
Falcon
Ms. Marvel
Photon
Shang Chi
Iron Man
Thor
Ant-Man
Wasp
Black Panther
Loki

Like that's a lot of characters and more than I would have expected here. And those are just the ones that I saw personally while floating around.

I did think that the merch options for the Avengers areas were kind of bad too. I was looking forward to getting a shirt or anything from there, but none of them really appealed to me.

But Disneyland in general didn't have a lot of merch that appealed to me anyway because none of my favorite Disney stuff was really represented, and I wanted to buy a Jack Skellington button up but it was $60 and I definitely didn't like it that much.

So I saw The Marvels earlier this week

In general, I liked it a lot, with the big exception being that whatsername is the most forgettable and generic antagonist we've gotten since like... Thor The Dark World? Like I honestly do not comprehend how Marvel does so badly at crafting villains outside of a select few exceptions. She had exactly one emotion the entire film and then ended with her only motivation being power (Captain Marvel just like letting her get back up and trusting her to cooperate was cringy too, like this woman just did a whole ass genocide, possibly two since we never followed up on the musical planet, and you're like cool with it?)

Aside from that though, I really enjoyed it. Kamala absolutely carried the whole movie, and I saw it with a friend who had never watched Ms. Marvel and was just startled by how energetic and fun she is. I agree that the tone was inconsistent, but I think a lot of that falls on how poorly they handled the Kree in general.

Ocean musical planet is a blast, so much fun, so cool, very funny seeing Carol have to go into a whole number while also needing to take the situation seriously (which was actually a benefit of the inconsistent tone). My only complaint here is that I wish 1. it lasted a little longer and 2. they followed up on it. Like they abandoned the planet after bringing the Kree forces there, the same ones that wiped out the entire Skrull planet. Did those people survive? It said the planet was 99% water so it's not like they had unlimited resources to fight with there. Carol was rightfully mad about them just ditching the planet, and then it never followed up on what happened.

Captain Marvel herself is great, and honestly a joy to watch most of the time. Like she walks a fine line between being serious and silly, like you see her demeanor change immediately when she's told she needs to herd all the kittens and it's hard not to like her/

Action was pretty solid throughout and the accidental teleporting mechanic was fun.

Post credits scenes were both very exciting, mostly because I actually avoided spoilers! Seeing Kate was already great, but then Kelsey Grammer returning as Beast had me thrilled (I'm still of the opinion the X-Verse > MCU). Kinda feels lazy that it's just like... the X-Men are part of a different universe, but I think we all knew that was coming.

Finished Loki S2!

I was super engaged in that last episode. Going to give it some time to sit, but I think the latter half of the series boosts the season to be the second best D+ release, right behind Hawkeye (though Loki S2 didn't have a lot of competition tbf).

Glorious Purpose

Directors dont need to be fans or even like the material, they just need to do it well. And given that the end result was Thor Ragnarok it clearly worked out! By contrast Kenneth Branagh was a huge Thor fan for decades and while I really like Thor 1 are there any madlads here who would take it over Ragnarok?

I think Thor 1 is pretty decently underrated. I wouldnt take it over Ragnorak, but I dont think theres a massive gulf between them. In any case, I think they are difficult to compare directly since they are so different stylistically and in what they are trying to accomplish.

Waititi's not doing himself any favors with comments like these, especially if his Star Wars plans are still on track. Seems really stupid to make these comments while also having ANOTHER highly opinionated and protective fanbase already wary of you. Still, it's not a terrible thing to say that you weren't interested in a comic film but you did it because of the money. He said some positive stuff about the experience too.

He's got to own up for LAT being weird though. It's not even bad. It's just a weird, irreverent, non-funny mess of a film that has a few good parts to it. People forget that Ragnarok had Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost attached - two highly respected comics writers.

Oh I ALSO think Thor 1 is not that far behind Ragnarok, I just think were in the minority!

Yeah though I dont really see anything wrong with the words themselves but given that a lot of people have soured on Waititi over the last couple of years I dont think it was a great PR move to say that. In fairness to Love and Thunder, we do know that film got significantly cut down to hit 2 hours, which sounds like it was a mistake.

I think Thor 1 is also very underrated. There was something about the world building that was very special in that movie, and the drama of it was all totally on point for what Thor should be.

I think Waititi brought a very important style to Ragnarok, but keep in mind he didn't write that movie. He just directed it. And his directing style has never been in question.

But when he wrote Love & Thunder, you can see this quote was very much true. He didn't like or care about Thor as a character. He just wanted to tell his nonsense story with unfunny jokes. He doesn't "get" Thor, and it shows. And it's honestly sad, because there was a much better story that could have been told there with Gorr had he really cared to tell something better.

The Marvels is getting pulled from theaters after the holiday season and the weekly box office has fallen so low that Disney is no longer going to report it for the remaining time because it will likely be around $1 million per week.

That means the box office will come in even lower than estimates initially thought and the movie will likely cost the studio over a quarter billion dollars in loses and may break the record for biggest theatrical bomb in cinema history.

Currently, the record is held by either John Carter or The Flash.

John Carter lost between $143 million and $255 million when adjusted for inflation. The Flash lost around $200 million.

The Marvels looks like it will end up losing between $200 million and $260 million total.
