Finally got around to finishing it. That took a bit! I knew most of the Brave Exvius characters which probably made it take longer. Edward and Fighter kinda snuck in (not terrible picks though) but otherwise don't hate the top 10. Sephiroth murdered most of the snubs like Rikku Sabin and Vanille-- I should have let him win. Not sure why I went with Genesis with the swerve win I just felt like he was fighting harder opponents than X-Death who was mostly just eating fodder. But yeah it was fun. Honestly think the 8 that didn't sneak in are probably actually in the top 10.

a pretty frustrating minigame to get the gold medal for, you gotta keep all the balls away from Belle, but you still need one to hit her opponent so he goes off balance and you can pull her off. not one of the bad minigames though!

That list is missing several characters. Off the top of my head, Reddas and NORG were past failed projects of mine (was also going to mention Rude, but apparently he was in XXIII? I don't remember this). And there's a noticeable lack of raytan's infamously bad choices like Buddy, Teta and Kelga. Also your complaining about Noel made me remember he's actually been in this before.

It wasn't meant to be an exhaustive list, so yeah, I didn't include the one-and-done characters in particular.

My only issue is that, being European, some late rounds are very late for me :| unfortunately we are only making like 10% of the voters or even less so who the fuck cares about us

In lefty's defence I'd say he's pretty considerate of European timezones. It's pretty rare to get a very late round here and much less common than they used to be. Even if the actual reason for this was because late rounds pretty clearly distort results (for someone who cares about stats), it's a benefit all the same. The only one who consistently gets the short end of the stick is MZero and it's hard to accommodate for one person in a contest with dozens of participants.

I played Brave Exvius, and I'm still surprised how many Brave Exvius characters there were.

I don't think anyone was more surprised than me when I went to add all of them. I already had done some of them here and there, but the extent of my knowledge of the game was pretty small. I knew of the main cast, and of course Dangerous Ariana because of this contest.

Of the 4 of these that have been completed so far, Tidus is in every single one of them. I guess for some reason I didn't think Tidus was your #1?

Oh and I'm sure it's been noticed, but I did use high quality level fanart for some of the characters. This was moreso for characters from IX and back due to how ugly those graphics look in general. Unless they appeared in Dissidia, basically all there is in Amano artwork. Which is... yeah. The most famous artist I know of with awful looking work. Sometimes Mobius would have something, or that trading card game, but in some cases fanart was the best route for me to go. Another SMFFFC entrant I don't have in Burmecian Soldier Dan because well, there's just no good shots of him in game and no one cared enough to do very good fanart. Someone did cosplay for him though, for some reason. But yeah, the list might not be infallible so if anyone notices something missing feel free to mention it here or send me a message. I'm always happy to add stuff. For XIV, which I haven't played because I'm already and invested WoW player, I tried my best to add what seemed critical and popular. It would be impossible to add every character from XIV, much like WoW.

Genny - I know your six finals votes were due to NRs, but you also could've easily gone the full 10-6 for Locke if you really wanted to, and thank you for playing the final how you did, for whatever reason you had behind your decision. I can't really downplay past successes, but this is the first time since the Raytan era (where admittedly most of my successes lay) where the win feels amazing beyond just being part of a "movement" (like with Fang/Lightning).

One of the conditions of my offering of finals votes to push Red into the top 4 was that I would only save a maximum of 10 times in the final. I might be a bit chaotic at times, but on the whole I am a woman of my word. And d'awww you're welcome. I'm still salty that Cute Waifu Fall prevailed over HGS, and I'm still very jelly of your track record of both getting to the finals and stacking crowns, but admittedly your heartfelt gratitude does take the edge off a bit. Congratulations again! Your favorite character better not shift when you play more XIV or XVI or I'm going to refer to you as Invisewars from then on. (That's a gauntlet crew in-joke for those of you not in the know)

To be fair it's actually two games that have some significant cast overlap but some unique to each. I know most of them from War of the Visions Final Fantasy Brave Exvius which is actually a pretty good game with a decent story for a mobile game that runs off a FFT like engine. I mostly like it because it doesn't waste your time and has a million different skip/background play functions to let you keep progressing your dudes without spending a lot of real time with the game and that there is a lot of character growth packed into the system (probably too much at this point it wasn't newbie friendly). I definitely had a few characters from WotV in till like Top 30ish with many wins.

I more or less ignored that WotV existed because... Well, normal FFBE is not so good. I guess I shouldn't? Maybe Lu'cia will actually be my second favorite Final Fantasy character.

Congratulations Vanille fans, I honestly did not expect that result and thought Locke had it on... lock. I like both characters but didn't feel strongly enough either way to vote in the final. Overall it was a great year. My own highlight was helping Montblanc into the top 20... and for Terra to get to #30, well, I don't know how she has placed in the last couple of years but to me that seems like a great result for her post-Raytan.

Well, Selphie had a crazy good run and lasted longer than I thought she would. I was mostly just helping out FFD with that one and the TRAIN GIRLS ALLIANCE but I do like Selphie. My actual backup was Barret, who died right before Selphie went out which is always fun.

I do like Aerith a lot, and she is also one of my backups, but it was pretty clear from the discord and the post topic conversations that she just didn't have the juice this year. For as much as people complain about her strength, the "not Aerith" crowd was pretty clearly bigger than the "yes please Aerith" crowd. Maybe next year will be better but she was going to get anti-voted like crazy this year.

Plus, I like Vanille quite a bit (most of the XIII cast, actually) and I thought she could actually win and was unlikely to have the stars align for her like they did this year again any time soon.

Sorry if you were counting on my vote! I am an Aerith fan but there are a lot of characters I like so its a tricky decision after my main goes out. Honestly the hivemind here is pretty good and I've always had good choices leftover after Jessie goes out these past couple of years.

Yeah I figured, I wonder how many more users were like that... though I always had the impression that the vocal haters wouldn't vote her under almost any circumstances anyways, like the only way to get swordz supporting her is if Cecil makes the finals for example, though probably Donkey Kong there eh, lol. But I'm probably still underestimating the discord situation, plus being personally biased here obviously. Ideally this year burns off some of that animosity.
