Well, that's because people are seen as cheap and expendable; the majority of that DoD budget is going towards the shiny pork projects like the F-35 and the M1 Abrams refurbishments.

They can't give you guys a living wage or even decent body armour, but they sure as hell can buy a plane designed by committee, that gets shot down by sixty year old Russian Fighters. (and yes I am jealous that I will never fly one outside a simulator)

The money get spilt up a lot. While the overall pot is big, first it gets split between all the branches. Then each base. Then each group, and squadron, and such. And that money for each area has to get split between lots of stuff. Equipment to use, money for stuff like fuel and whatnot, money for TDYs/Deployments, money for clothing items, and everything else. And everything also cost more for the military And theres also the money for paychecks and everything

Abs they way they split it kind of sucks. Thats why at my base, my squadron barely has enough to keep our equipment to fixed because our jets are shitty. The other squadrons with the ones that barely break have enough to get fancy self-checkout things for their tools. And their building is nicer, as well

Well, considering it was the origin point for COVID, it's relying on unfair trade practices to damage world markets, it's trying to use its military to take over vital shipping lanes, using hacking to steal trade secrets for its companies, etc, there's some basis.

Yes, we will have shortages on goods/items. We can start making them here again. Invest in our country instead of others and focus on ourselves. It will be painful for a few years, we will have to spend more money on some goods, but it will level out in the end and be good for the country as a whole.

you seem smart, you gotta realize that the ONLY way we can possibly get a handle on this thing is to get most people vaccinated. 50-100 years ago the entire world was hard at work eradicating diseases left and right with some common sense rules that basically amounted to you gotta get vaccinated if you want to go to this school, get this job, or geez idk help stop this virus from attacking our entire species and people fucking rose to the occasion.

Now the majority of the world is desperately waiting for vaccines and they cant get any because a bunch of spoiled and entitled Americans are being a bunch of absolute BITCHES about getting a shot like theyve never gotten a fucking shot before. Just being a bunch of insufferable little pissants day after day while people all over the globe are just fucking struggling and watching this horseshit.

Just you watch. Politicians are waking up to the fact that the public overwhelmingly supports mandates for the damn vaccine which little old people are getting by the millions without ill effects.

So a ton of people need to just pull their fucking pants up and act like grown ups for five minutes and if they cant do it they need to be compelled to or they should just fucking leave.

As far as Im concerned if youre a healthy adult and you are still refusing the vaccine at the end of the year then you should have your citizenship revoked and be tossed out of the country or imprisoned because youve decided to be traitors to our country and the entire human race. Fuck you.

Defense contractors are always trying to hire more (specifically software) talent because people generally don't want to work for any company that requires a security clearance.

I've heard the same general excuse for healthcare when comparing the USA to other much smaller countries.

I get that closing the borders is not a popular opinion and it won't solve all of the issues, but it would have made a whole lot of sense at least a few times in the last couple years. At a minimum, everyone going in and out of the border should be forced to quarantine for 14 days or so.
