I'm not watching, just updating myself as things transpire. I have no intent to watch nor follow 42, though 43 might be different if Probst sees how universally negative the reaction has been to all the bullshit he's doing.

Despite all the bullshit twists and forced theatrical production, there is still a lot to like about this season. The cast is really good and there are still some interesting things happening.

Yeah, I think devoid of all the advantages and twists being injected into the season, it would actually be pretty high up my list right now, halfway through. The editing could afford to be a bit more spread out, too.

Hmm, I mean, I guess? This cast isn't really doing much for me. Mike seems like the obvious winner to me. Alternatively I guess it could be Alfie (although he'll probably be a losing finalist, but picking the oldest guy as the season's main narrator is a little sus), and while I doubt at this point there's going to be a female winner, since they haven't brought it up in several episodes and 4/5 elims so far have been women, if there WERE to be a female winner from this group, I'd say Elizabeth and Lia were our best bets from the get-go.

Apparently they used a charter plane, so we aren't going to see any airport drama, and theoretically every leg will start equalized.

Also I'm getting mixed signals here. I was initially under the impression that they reset the season entirely but now I'm hearing that they did in fact pick up where they left off.

He didn't even need to burn the idol. Shan just showed in the previous round that extra votes carry through in revotes. Xander/Xander/Evvie vote Liana and Danny/Deshawn/Liana vote Evvie, the revote would be Xander/Xander vs. Danny/Deshawn, and if the boys push that tie, Xander is immune and Evvie/Liana are safe, so one of them would've gone home.

Interesting. I'd think maybe the extra vote would come more in handy if he saved Evvie for the next tribal, seeing as it would be (potentially) 4 v 4 with mayyybe Ricard or Deshawn wanting to flip to not force a tie/rocks/whatever.

And oh yeah, Shan burned her extra vote so it could have been 5-4.

Finally caught up (it took me watching five episodes in a row lol)

Naseer was my fave but obviously he can't win so I'm rooting for Xander or Erika.

The rest can kick rocks lol.

I liked Shan at first but eh.

Also some say that Russell Hantz drastically changed the way Survivor was played the most.

I personally believe that title goes to Yau-Man Chan. Especially after that blunder Xander pulled off.

Liana asking Xander for his idol was one of the funniest moments of the season. It's like she heard how Shan played JD in pre-merge and tried to do it herself, just without any of the social awareness.

I really thought Deshawn was gonna flip this week, they've been building that narrative for a long time now.

i have a feeling that the storyline this is all building up to is deshawn having made a mistake here by not taking out liana - and that shan is gonna get him first because he went against his instincts to play it safe. evvie was clearly consistently willing to work with him and would have been much more on his side versus liana with shan but he wasn't willing to flip (or couldn't get danny behind it)

sometimes it's stretching to try to solve the edit but if shan wins this all seems very very reasonable

Production rigs the Shot in the Dark so whoever played that would go home by default, before the votes were even read.

It was indeed hilarious. There's also the fact that Xander isn't as dumb as he seems. Liana really thought he'd be dumb/gullible enough to do it, despite her treating him so poorly. When in reality she's arrogant, selfish, and stupid. I can't stand her. She just has this "meathead ego" that puts me off.

I maintain that the story is "why Shantel Smith lost" and not why she won. I expect her to be runner-up since her jury management is less than ideal. She's getting a similar treatment to Sugar in Gabon, The Hantz (x2), Benjamin in South Pacific, and Culpepper in Lame Changers. She may be the protagonist but I don't see her as the winner.

Xander is the only person left that I can see both getting to the end with Shan and beating her, and even that's a massive stretch. If Shan loses, I think it's way more likely that she doesn't make it to the end.

I definitely believe that this will be a case where Shan gets to the end despite everyone realizing that they ought to take her out and wins despite sub-optimal jury management. It's happened to numerous men, I don't see why it's so hard to imagine it happening to a woman.

Finally watched the Sydney boot episode with my dad and neither him nor I particularly cared for it. His reasoning was Xander's move should have been akin to an epic blindside but ultimately fell flat because the bad guys were allowed to over-correct it. I'm gonna go back to watching The Genius and Survivor SA from here. I see why I stopped watching Monster before and frankly, I might just stop again. This show isn't entertaining for me anymore.

I also don't think Shan is winning. Her jury management is atrocious. What's also happened to several men is that they've lost at the end because of sub-par jury management. It happened to Boston Rob in All-Stars, The Hantz twice, Sash in Nicaragua, Benjamin in South Pacific, [redacted] in Philippines, and Culpepper in Lame Changers (to varying extents).

If Xander was able to make the end with Shan, he wins. I think Danny and DeShawn beat her, too. Liana and Heather are both goats on AstroTurf; Erika's odds aren't much better. Ricard is a tossup, but I err toward him beating Shan because he's not as openly combative.

After the Michaela vote, the jury was in favor of Lacina or Cirie winning it - they just wanted to fake being bitter toward Lacina to confuddle Culpepper, and them doing so got him to fuck up and take her over Tai.

Lacina managed to pull the wool over people's eyes but not in a way that got them to think she was too sketchy. And Culpepper flubbed his way through.

Oh good, I was afraid you were somehow referring to the critically-acclaimed anime "Monster" which ran for 74 episodes in 2004-05. A Monster that should be watched without stopping!

Yeah pretty much in "watch for the sake of watching" mode with this season but hey, new Amazing Race in January and then maybe 2nd time's the charm in March!
