I'm a complete pansy when it comes to horror games but buy them all because I love the idea of them.

Fatal Frame 1-3 on PS2 and PS3
Resident Evil 7 and 2 Remake
Alien Isolation
Haunting Ground

Hell, I had to nope out of Corpse Party on Vita because I saw a little face thing for a split second in a cabinet in the first 10 minutes of the game lmao

etc

Trouble with execution mostly, memorizing stuff and inputting it in real time, and learning timing. I also have a poor memory for navigation without an in-game map.

Less a gaming frustration and more a frustration that affects gaming, but I've got carpal tunnel or tendonitis or something going on with my hands. Or maybe if I'm really lucky it's RA like multiple other people in my family.

I think I'm decent at fighting games but I should be better than I am

I have an unwillingness to learn game specific strategies though and just rely on my own natural ability

Watching one of my friends dedicate the last 3 years of his life to tekken 7 has certainly been something I realised I wouldn't want to do for myself though

This is what it feels like for me personally, although given my accomplishments in Soulsborne it maybe rings a bit hollow to some idk.

I'm really bad at identifying tells and integrating precise timing in reaction to them in action games. Even when I sorta get it, it feels more like I've stumbled into it the wrong way and it's only applicable in narrow situations, not general purpose.

TVs. TVs nowadays always seem to have really bad lag for me that makes most games pretty unplayable, and it's been the reason that I haven't really done any console gaming in the last, like, ten years. But for some reason, I've never been able to find answers on how to fix this, and it doesn't seem to be an issue that people in the community bring up very often, despite the fact that I KNOW it must be a thing that people worry about, especially the fighting game community. Even if I found an answer I wouldn't have enough money to buy a new TV right now, it's just not a high enough priority. I feel like I've lost a lot of time enjoying my hobby properly to this. I also haven't been able to stream games from console due to not having a setup for it, which is a frustration because it prevents me from trying to submit things to GDQ and the like.

some TVs have a game mode buried in the settings which should reduce input lag a little. or you could do the classic and find some old CRT for $20 on craigslist

Makes me wonder, though, as someone who doesn't perceive that at all, how good my laptop monitor really is compared to my TV, for instance. I can be bothered by a lot of barely-perceptible stuff but I've never had that problem.

Ever since I realized that most games phone in their endings because the average player doesn't make it that far, it feels like I can just see the quality drop as I approach any given game's end game. This is especially true for games' stories (even stories that are really good/interesting for the first 90% often fuck up the dismount) but it even creeps into the gameplay pretty often, and it really hurts the experience to end on a sour note all the time.

I think also that in a lot of games earlier parts of the game get more attention and later parts get rushed just due to impending deadlines and the scope of the game needing to be dialed back as a result

That I've been gaming as a hobby for most of my life but there aren't really any games I'm 'good' at. On average I'm decent at most games from the start and can adapt to new mechanics easily enough but I can't find the drive to practice and get better.

I have trouble playing without trying to optimize in some way-- looking for all the hidden items before moving on, resetting after a stealth failure, constantly checking to make sure I don't miss something permanently.

On a related note, getting locked into a strategy that works but is kinda boring instead trying something more dynamic and interesting. "Given the opportunity, players will optimize the fun out of a game," rings pretty true.

Also there are a lot of games where I can't get myself to push through the start. It's not like a movie or song where you can fast forward until it starts getting good again, really. It kinda is but not really.

Probably playing every noteworthy game to 100% completion or close as possible to it. I know full well that some games are simply not worth it but I still trudge on. The stranger thing is I don't even care about trophies but I just got to see all that a game has to offer even if it is behind a ridiculously tedious feat.

I'm a lot better at not doing this now than I was 10 years ago but it the completionist in me is still very much there.

I wouldn't so much as call it frustration than something I'm 50-50 on especially with games I don't enjoy that much but with the very best ones it is usually something I love doing anyways.

For me it's probably for online games when an excellent game has been released but certain cards/builds/heroes which are overpowered are not sufficiently dealt with by the devs despite constant pleas from the community. E.g. Big Priest in Hearthstone around 2017

Random encounters in RPGs. I get why they were a thing, but any game that gives the option to outright avoid them (Moogle Charm) or puts enemies on screen so I have the choice and chance to do so makes a world of difference.

Best battle system in the world? Don't care. If you keep stopping me from getting somewhere, you suck.

In RPGs I'll spend way too much time talking to everyone in hopes that their dialogue has changed. It's like I don't want to miss any sort of missable dialogue. I've been playing Trails recently and while I'm rewarded for doing that for the most part, I just finished the 3rd watch had me swapping my party often to trigger dialogue and also laboring over who to take with me where. At least I never reloaded a save to see extra dialogue. It hasn't gotten that bad yet.

Over time, I've realized that it's inconsistent difficulty. I love things like Darks Souls and all that, so it's not the difficulty itself. But, nothing bothers me more than playing a game where I'll die maybe once an hour, only to hit a section where I die 10+ times on the same part.

I've been playing through the Ratchet & Clank series ahead of the new one releasing and just got through A Crack in Time this weekend. There's a sequence during one of the final bosses where the gameplay suddenly shifts to dodging attacks on a track while using the hoverboots. Most of this sequence is fine, but then it ends with an extended platforming segment which is needlessly difficult due to the camera angle. Honestly, this game blew me away until that and a late-game minor planet which also didn't really work due to camera issues; it's weird how much the very last section of that game kinda falls apart.

Games should usually get more difficult as they go, but my problem is specifically when there's a spike instead of a gradual rise - especially if that spike is just one small part instead of a genuine shift.
