and of course later reporting said he regretted doing it and started floating the lie that it wasn't his voice on the tape

Even that was of a "sorry if you were offended, but it was locker room talk"

I think he also semi-apologized for "very fine people" and has reportedly since vented that it was the biggest mistake of his presidency (the apology, not sating that there were very fine people on both sides).

indoors, less masks, and the building they are in doesn't pay taxes so its not a real loss to the economy if they were to burn it down. Arguably it would be a net gain in terms of pure economics(I'm not saying burn it down, i'm talking in pure financial terms).

In SmartMuffin's case, I say absolutely block him. Let him start making his own topics again when he gets deprived of attention and see how long that lasts with him like this.

So I've been going down a deep social media hole tonight. Hadn't done this in a long time.

I end up on the facebook page of some friend of a friend who I don't even know at all. Scrolling down and they've posted a bunch of right wing memes making fun of liberals and whatnot. One thing they posted was a video of a woman talking into the camera explaining why she chooses not to wear a mask, speaking in an overly polite voice that isn't authentic at all but "tries to be" if you know what I mean. Starts out by apologizing to all the liberals she's about to "trigger". Etc. Then later down in this person's timeline, within 12 hours of that post, they've shared a lengthy post about how difficult life was for people who were born in 1900 (just walks through all the death and suffering they lived through, etc.) and goes on to how nowadays people have so many conveniences in life and they just love to complain about any little thing. The post wraps up by saying how nobody should be complaining about having to wear a mask, instead just check your perspective and realize how well off you really are.

This person owned themselves so hard. I think they just got as far as "life isn't as hard as it used to be!" and assumed it was a right wing message.

So this got me thinking. Can anyone direct me to a self-respecting, successful conservative memer? I need to see something better than this.

I think that good memes are self-aware in the sense that it's clear the author does not actually believe that a complicated issue can be boiled down to a very simple thing. So, they can have a good amount of absurdity. I don't know if this is the kind of thing you're looking for but this is a really funny Tea Party video:

SCOTUS with another 5-4 ruling where Roberts saves us from hell by joining The Squad (Breyer wrote the majority opinion, Roberts filed a concurrence, will probably get around to reading them soon this is just the news post).

SCOTUS struck down Louisiana's law that required abortion clinics to have admitting privileges with a nearby hospital - a requirement that was both unnecessary and cumbersome enough that it was basically causing almost all of them to be forced to close.

And while it's a win it's worth noting that both of Trump's picks - Gorsuch and Kavanaugh voted to uphold this law. And I'm seeing reporters note that Roberts only joined the liberal side here out of respect for the court's 2016 precedent where they struck down a near identical law from Texas rather than the reproductive rights argument set forth by the liberal wing. ...Which also means Kavanaugh's "respect for precedent" was bullshit and if not for Roberts actually possessing some shred of it this result would have flipped.

There might be some extra salt because Roberts was part of the dissent in the 2016 case that is his basis here for flipping because the decision in that case (which, again, he dissented from) is now precedent by stare decisis.

Okay, reading now. The plurality opinion is nothing special really. Roberts's concurrence is basically, "y'all I'm going to write an essay on how I think you can get me to allow restrictions on abortion it's just you basically copy-pasted a law we struck down four years ago and I'd have to be a complete and total hack to break precedent and while 4 of colleagues are apparently cool with this I'm not. ...Don't... don't do that next time and maybe it'll go better."

Thomas's dissent begins with basically, "excuse me abortion clinics don't have a right to get an abortion so they lack standing here we should never have stepped in. Also abortion isn't in the Constitution the court invented it."

Alito writes a dissent (Gorsuch joins entirely. Thomas and Kavanaugh join for certain parts of it) wherein he whines at Roberts's face/heel (depending on perspective) turn from the 2016 case, echoes Thomas's standing complaint, "Texas and Louisiana are very different even if the statutes are almost the same!," "Look, we don't know it would have created an undue burden on women because we didn't let it go for a long enough trial run!," "Actually the doctors were acting in bad faith and didn't really try to get admitting privileges because if they had it would have hurt their case,"

Gorsuch dissents but now we're like over 110 pages in and even speed reading I'm getting tired and a lot of this is similar to the above two.

Kavanaugh dissents in a two-pager where he opens with a weird flex saying that 5 justices agree that the 2016 case was wrongly decided (including Roberts in here) while 5 justices agree that the 2016 case serves as precedent to decide this case (...the... the actual plurality in this case) and goes "I agree with the first group!" then says he agrees with Alito's bit about how "we can't know if those doctors really tried hard enough to get admitting privileges"

~~~
SCOTUS also heard a challenge to the CFPB. Long story short: They found that the structure of the CFPB was unconstitutional because it only permitted the director to be fireable for cause and the court says the president can fire them for any reason. Other than that they find the underlying law creating the CFPB constitutional.
The upshot of this is it means Biden can just fire Trump's CFPB appointment should he win election.
Breakdown is a bit wonky for me but I think it goes like this: Roberts, Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh said that the CFPB's leadership structure violated the separation of powers. Kagan wrote the dissent and was joined by Ginsberg, Breyer, and Sotomayor.
When it came down to severability (i.e. can we throw that part of the CFPB out without throwing out the entire thing) it was Roberts, Alito, Kavanaugh, Kagan, Ginsberg, Breyer, and Sotomayor who said "Yeah, this doesn't kill the whole thing, just fix that one part."
Thomas (joined by Gorsuch) seems to dissent with regard to the severability part by basically saying "we should just take the CFPB's teeth away then it wouldn't even matter anymore." I did find some humor in Thomas quoting "the buck stops with the President" in his discussion of executive power though given this president's take on it.
Comedy moment of the dissent (Kagan's dissent, that is, disagreeing that the CFPB leader being somewhat independent from the President is unconstitutional): This is a real quote from it. "Spoiler alert:"
