step 3 - massive sweeping progressive changes in every subsequent election

I like it. It could even be fun for them. First obviously you organize on social media into various interest groups. Then you divvy up the numbers that way.

Was just pondering stuff and realized, I mean heck there's no rule to stop it, right? People have the right to move. Once establishing residence they have the right to vote. It's like inverse gerrymandering; is there a word for that?

Funny to think in terms of the electoral college and how many people feel it is antiquated and needs to be abolished. Well...I mean you don't technically need to abolish it. There's ways to just straight up beat the system.

The problem is that Californians love California too much (I've lived there for like 9 years now). They are willing to pay astronomical prices for housing and taxes to live there. I meet people from Georgia, Kentucky, etc. and their standard of living, even with lower income and lower education levels is higher than people in California to the point where the only way you could even reasonably aspire to getting a comparable house here is to get in early at a tech company that ends up having a successful IPO.

If you want a more practical way of doing this - California just cedes Los Angeles County to Texas. That one change of the lines on a map would have swung the 2016 election. Note that this is the ONLY single county change that would have swung that election.

That said, punny, I think your vision may actually partially become reality. A lot of people in my social circles have been talking about moving away from California for a while due to the high cost of living, obscene levels of traffic, onerous regulations, government that charges the highest taxes in the country but somehow cannot lay more than a few miles of track for high speed rail between LA and SF in 12 years (then they cancelled the project entirely), etc. With the pandemic, a lot of people are working from home and realizing they really don't need to be in CA to work for a CA company. Check back in a year and I think you'll find that many people, especially in tech, are no longer in CA.

What we are seeing is that the virus doesn't seem to exponentially grow as we thought. Instead, New York, Italy, and so on that showed those exponential growths were actually likely just an infected populace catching up to infected, as we are seeing much slower rises.

They will have to shutdown if they start to reach ICU bed limits in their surge limits.

Yes. But compared to my expectations of not doing anything more but pausing the reopening for like a week at most (until just before, or maybe just after, July 4th), this still shocks me.

Nyt reporting that US intelligence is aware of Russia offering bounties to militants in Afghanistan for killing American troops, and that the Trump admin has been aware of this for months and taken no action.

He signed an EO to protect all federal statues. Once people started tearing down statues of Ulysses Grant and so on, it become apparent it wasn't even anything do about racism anyways.

DC should be a state because 700,000 people live there and are taxed without representation in Congress. The only reason Republicans allow this injustice to occur - an injustice that is literally the same one the revolution that founded the country was based on - is because it would be politically inconvenient to them.

If DC were red it should still be done but we don't live in this hypothetical so no one can prove shit about that and you're full of shit for claiming we only support it because of that.

And hell I want the Senate abolished so if I were given my way it would just be giving them some House reps

Same here. Like I'm sure some of the "split CA" propositions would give more Dem Senators, but I'd be against those (and in general I'm very against things like packing the court that may give a temporary partisan advantage but encourage a back-and-forth of escalation). There's no excuse for the citizens of DC not having (voting) representation in Congress.
