Yeah, Ice is probably the worst defensive type. Ice/Ground is probably its best pairing, and it still isn't that great. At least Mamoswine eventually got Thick Fat to help out.

For whatever reason they just love their defensive ice types even though it's a terrible defensive type. At least Mamoswine and Weavile get to have actual offense instead and thus be actually good

There was a special decoration for you OR/AS Secret Base for doing just that, IIRC.

As far as transferring from GBA goes, there's a Migrate Pokmon option on the main menu when you have the GBA game in the slot. Then you pick six to transfer (six per day, I believe) and go to the Pal Park to recapture them in any Gen IV game that has the National Pokdex.

I paid a man $7 yesterday on ebay to send me Meltan and Melmetal in Let's Go so that I never have to play Pokemon Go. Bonus is they're level 100 and perfectly EV trained

No, just put the cart in the GBA slot on the DS. It will bring whatever item the Pokmon is holding over, so it's a great way to get more of the first 50 TMs.

When I played Heart Gold last year one of the first Pokemon I caught was a shiny Unown I. Needless to say he was a permanent fixture on my team with his one move Grass Hidden Power. Also ended up catching a shiny Zubat in Kanto

I thought I was a big shot because I caught 3 dunsparces and someone told me it's a 1% chance to encounter them. But I just found out that it's a 90% chance encounter rate whenever you rock smash a Boulder in that cave. I don't feel as cool anymore

Take pride in the fact that you at least discovered that. I've played through HG multiple times since it launched and I didn't even know that until you pointed it out. Always just relied on 1% grinding.

In my defense, I literally never use Rock Smash in not-required ways and have played the original gen 2 a lot more than I have HGSS

I was trying to find more heart scales and apparently they can be randomly generated by destroying boulders in this place. Though only once a day apparently

Highly Curious just means that particular Swinub's highest (or tied highest) IV is Sp. Attack. Simply having the characteristic has no direct bearing either way on its Attack; that being said, I would guess that the Highly Curious Swinub is superior in most of its stats to the Good Endurance one. If not, it's simply a quirk of the RNG that it rolled a higher Attack IV.

Correct. It means you have to take your Swinub to the move reminder once it's evolved into Piloswine if you wish to learn Ice Fang. Yes, it's pretty dumb that Piloswine doesn't learn it upon/after evolution.

Hidden abilities were introduced in Black and White as essentially a third, rare ability slot, and aren't a thing in HGSS.
