so I took a small break and decided to boot up Leaf Green!

The person who owned it before me had 7 badges and I decided to finish his journey for him

I got the Earth badge, easy enough, but eventually the elite 4 was a pain in the ass

he adopted Zapdos into his team (and taught him Rock Smash)

He also has Gravler and Kadabra, who suck without being able to fully evolve.

He started out with Bulbasaur

and his water is a Poliwrath! I haven't seent hat before. He also had Ice Beam

Poliwrath and Zapdos carried the team into victory, but FUCK it was hard as hell. The team was average Level 45 w hen I won, which again, I feel like I shouldn't have been able to pull

I didn't see Moltres on victory road

so then theres some post game content. Sevi Islands?

And apparently they won't let me go into Cerulean Cave

other than Mewtwo, do you get anything else out of doing these islands?

Moltres was moved to the Sevii Islands, but other than that it's just lore/events with Team Rocket and some pokemon not available anywhere else in Gen 3. The events are necessary to open Cerulean Cave.

okay, I think I'll just skip them for now, especially since I can get Mewtwo in Soul Silver apparently. Whenever "I" play Leaf Green, I'll do Sevi Islands

Yes. GBA to DS is one way.

The only time transfer to a new gen wasn't one-way was RBY -> GSC. and even then you had to be careful with what you had in your party when you wanted to send it back. Anything that didn't exist in RBY would prevent you from being able to activate the time machine.

They only call me to tell me their Ratatas are in the top percentage and shit

I'll never forget being at the Indigo Plateau, getting ready to take on the E4 and getting a call from a guy who then gave me a Fire Stone so I could evolve my Growlithe and take Arcanine into the E4 battles. Lucky.

You need to go through Black/White or B2/W2, using an in-game method that requires two DS/3DS systems and an annoying minigame, before you can get to either of those. From there you'll need a Bank subscription ($5/year) to use Transporter, which picks up everything from Box 1.

(And no, items don't transfer. I'd forgotten they do from III->IV but they haven't since.)

Pretty much. Worth noting is that Pok Transporter is a separate 3DS program that moves them from BW/2 into Banks Transport Box, then you use Bank to put them where you want. Also bear in mind that anything pulled out of the Alola games is marked in Bank and cant be moved back to XY/ORAS.

Did you fight all 16 Gym Leaders? Did you rematch the Gym Leaders by getting their phone numbers at random times and calling them at specific times? Did you beat the upgraded E4?

Even so, you're probably still gonna have to grind...I have to aswell...

Grater was the one that beat him thanks to him having resistances

I went back to oak and he FINALLY gave me Rock Climb

I have to basically re-roam the earth and rediscover all of the locations

Rock Climb is decent enough to be a 4th option on somethiing. Gettiing to a high enough level to beat Red is enough of a grind already, don't make it harder by having to grind up another thing that's a lower level than everything you have.
