I just realized that I have a lot more control over my hours now. Ever since I got the job on based, at least. This job has something called core hours. And as long as Im there for those, I can come in early or late or whatever. Since I dont exactly have core hours, I can kind of make my own.

So, I just have to be there for 9 hours of the day (within a reasonable time). Though, one hour is for lunch. I can also get breakfast. And I have 3 hours of gym time per pay period. I can split it anyway I want. 3 one hour sessions, 6 half hour sessions, or a 3 hour session.

Because of this job, it helps me make my hours for my other job, as well... I think thats about it...

What about you, PotD?

I'm expected to work 8 hours a day M-F. As long as I'm close I don't think I'd have any issues. Sometimes (rarely) I'll work 7-7.5 hours and I don't tell my boss. Never hear anything about it. If I need to leave earlier it's no problem as long as I notify my boss. Got to choose my own start time, they'd let me adjust it depending on my needs at home.

I have to start every day on-time, and I have to take a lunch break (required by law) before the 6-hour mark.

Never have any problems getting time off.

My job is pretty flexible now that I think of it.

There is nothing official really. HR doesnt like to touch on this subject as it really depends on your role and I work for a fairly large institution, but I noticed the de facto core hours are between 10 and 4. You can expect everyone to be there between those hours.

However, when there is an external need like having an appointment it is very flexible. As long as you make up the hours (or rather, as long as you deliver on your tasks) no one really cares.

Is it salary or wage? I know for the Air Force (on my base), they sometimes dont care if we dont stay the whole 8 hours.

My job at the bus station is kind of like that. Our boss is ok with whatever if we get our work done...

Yeah I should say that while they'll let me choose my start time, it's something that I have to pick and stick with for a while. I can't just pick a random start time every other week. Manager would get annoyed having to adjust the timeclock that much

Pizza delivery, right? Off topic, but I had a question. What do you do when not out delivering. Are you like helping make the pizzas, or taking orders, or something? On topic, depending on that, it could make the days goes faster or slower...

Yeah. Our boss probably doesnt like doing it much. So, if we have to come in later, he just writes notes so we arent late. If they just never set the times clocks up for us to have to come in at a certain times, things would be better. But its whatever...

At this store, I wash more dishes than do anything else while i'm in the store. We're a dine-in location, so there's a lot of them. I also help out with food prep, fold boxes and fry/sauce the wings. I never top or sauce the pizzas, although ocassionally i'll cut them when they come out of the oven if everyone else is busy.

The servers and managers do the majority of answering the phones. I've helped out more with that at other stores, but I don't like doing it.

If we're slow enough, I'generally get sent home, which sucks for my paycheck, but I don't really mind.

Basically. I had to go downtown and get a permit for my pod when it shows up, as well as running around buying shit for the new house. And just to relax a little bit after all the driving.

It doesnt matter to me really. But theyd rather I work 5 days. But if needed I can take a day or two off and just make up the time.

As long as it isnt constant I could just take days off and not make up the time too. especially if were slow. I was doing that for a few weeks before I went to California to pack up the house.

Something good and bad about my job is no extra pay for overtime. Instead of more money, you get more time. So, Ill make the same amount of money working longer hours. But that means I can use that extra time to get days off. Which I could either rest, or go to another job to make even more money. So, its sort of like more money, I guess...

I worked a job like that a long time ago. We called it Flex time. Every hour of Overtime I worked, I'd get an hour of time off. So my actual time off I never used.

Then when I quit, I forced them to pay me the overtime I was actually due. I got a monster check for a 10 hour work week making $10 an hour.

Yeah. Im probably going to end up using mostly that extra time off instead of the normal time off I earn. Which will save me a lot. Haha.

40 a week minimum but you can pretty much get all the overtime you want. Well not quite they limit it to 7 extra days a month cause they had issues with guys making 100+ thousand a year when base pay is barely over 30 thousand.
