Yeah they are eliminated.

If they win out, then theyd be in a 6-10 tie with only the Cowboys, who already swept them this season

the Eagles would be tied as well, but they'd be eliminated by the 3-way tiebreaker being 1-3 against the Giants+Cowboys combined.

i think. that or they'd be eliminated for their divisional record. either way, it goes back to Cowboys > Giants head to head like you said.

zero sympathy for the patriots but they got hosed on the not-a-td call they couldn't challenge.

Not necessarily because the refs simply missed a call, but because I'm 99% sure they're instructed to rule a TD there specifically because it triggers automatic review.

Whew, glad to see the Titans have pulled away in the second half. With two games against the Texans in our last three games, we're in control of our playoff destiny now.

First was a case where a fumble was whistled dead on the field as down by contact. Pats challenged and won (but was their last challenge since they lost the other) but it's the classic case of "because it was whistled dead on the field you can't give them the return just possession at the spot of the clear recovery" thing.

Second was a rule of out-of-bounds on the 3 after a small extended discussion when replay clearly showed he stayed in (and tbqh it seemed that way live to me too.) Because Patriots were out of challenges from before they couldn't do anything about it. Drive ended in a FG.

That's the summary of why you're seeing that. Both cases where I'm pretty sure the refs did the thing they're not supposed to do in unclear situations. Second feels more egregious though because it's a case where they're clearly wrong on replay. First sucks but happens occasionally to teams (Even though, again, pretty sure refs are instructed to let it play out and deal with it in the automatic review of a turnover/score)

Huh, for some reason (this is legit one of the weird questions that drifts through my head at times) I thought there was an unspoken rule that rematches had to be spaced out with at least two games in the middle, not just one.

i believe that Raiders loss also means the Bills can clinch a playoff spot with 1 more win regardless of what other teams do.

That wasn't what we were doing! I mean, yes, they lose the bye in that scenario but we were talking about divisions.

If we were devising scenarios where they lose the bye it would have been a lot easier! Lose to Bills, Chiefs win out. Done. (and ravens win 1 of 3 technically)

The Titans are bad against their own division and pretty good against everyone else. That tends to be how that goes for us lately. I don't expect us to sweep so I'm hoping for a split.

the Texans' other game is against the Bucs and they win in a tie while the Titans' other game is against the Saints so you might wanna think more about that sweep

I don't understand why refs whistle plays dead when it might have been a fumble. Just let them play and fix it later if necessary (all turnovers are reviewed anyway, right?) Yes, I know the Patriots benefited from the same thing in the AFC Championship against the Jags a few years ago. They should have changed it then.

I'm not blaming the refs though. The Patriots deserved to lose that game

I mean, if you're a believer in things like momentum and the X Factor, you could definitely see them winning some of the games they've lost since then as well
