like I never wanna be the asshole gatekeeper in the conversation, because like, people should like whatever games they like and I mean, really, this top 100 list is just a list of opinions like anyone else's, and that's cool, and games should be for everyone

but this is a little bit of a mystery to me

i'm probably the only one here who can say they played 868-HACK, which is grouped in at #42. (no i don't get the dual entries either) Believe it or not based on the rest of this list, but it's actually a really cool game!

The one redeeming quality of all of these lists is that they remind me of games I played in the last decade.

In trying to come up with my own list I've struggled to even name half as many games I've played, let alone 50 great ones.

My thoughts on the list:

- Mass Effect needs a rep in the Top Five, of course
- 3D World is great, but if you only get one Mario rep it's got to be Odyssey. ehhh, okay I'll also accept Galaxy 2
- including games that had bad starts before redeeming themselves is great IMO! but those entrants (like No Man's Sky and Sea of Thieves) should have been punished for it, with rankings in the 80s
- same for Pokemon Go, I realize it was a mega hit for six months but as an actual game it was clearly Not Ready For Prime Time
- get PT outta here, neat experience but if it was the Seventh Best Game of the Decade they would have... made a Game out of it!
- I'm glad the browser/phone/funny/wacky free stuff (like Frog Fractions) made the cut, because they're definitely worth checking out. but slotting them into the 90s would have been more than enough
- let's be serious, those sports games didn't need slots
- yeaaaaah go my Spelunky, literally the perfect game

First off, they seem to be heavily accounting for influence which is why there are some funky choices.

Second, grouping Limbo and INSIDE together is criminal, they are totally different.

And third, this is I believe 3/3 major lists with no GTAV (not counting GTA Online). I think we can call that a pattern.
