It just pisses me off how exploited anime fans get if they want to support the official releases.

A 24 episode anime here in Canada can run upwards of 80 dollars.

... no. Hell no. That is ridiculous.

Looking at My Hero Aca on Amazon, Season 2 Part 1 is priced at 35 bucks... on sale from 65.

65 bucks for 13 episodes? Hell no.

You aren't even supporting the industry, just the company that bought the license for said country.
The only way to actually support a series is to import the Blurays and volumes, or buy some merch.

And the light novel is definitely affordable, Japanese of English. Aside from some rare extra volumes that might cost a lot but aren't important.

I do buy anime when it is priced well.

Yeah originally it was, 3 years later now its going into every console which is neat, too bad every other gamefreak game that isn't pokemon has kinda flopped.

Gamefreak hasn't really made many non-pokemon titles outside of Drill Dozer, Giga Wrecker, HarmoKnight and Tembo the Badass Elephant. Don't know about the latter two but Giga Wrecker and Drill Dozer seem to have preformed well.

Can't say I blame them for not investing in other titles, Pokemon is a very profitable franchise.

Just when I think Revue Starlight could not possibly get any gayer (without raising its age rating) they drop a bridal event and "The Disappearance of Tendou Maya" as a new story chapter. It's like Bushiroad took the combined lesbianism of all its other franchises and concentrated all of it into one single franchise, including like 90% of it into one single pairing.

Finished up the first season of Fairy Tail last night.

Overall it is a pretty good Shonen, though it does have A LOT of fan-service.

2nd straight week of no new Cinderella Nine episode because the network in Japan that normally airs it is showing French Open tennis instead. On one hand, the delay sucks. On the other, the extra time off might help them fix some of the QUALITY issues in the later episodes.

Or it could pull a Haduki and just keep fucking up.

Finished up the first season of Fairy Tail last night.

I feel the same way sometimes. To this day, I still think I would have enjoyed Bleach if I had been watching it from the very beginning, but it's so long that I would never attempt to watch it now. It's also why I'm glad I picked up Black Clover from the beginning, because I'm really liking it.

The longest shows that I've ever watched on my own time (as in, not following them weekly as they aired) are Shakugan No Shana and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, both of which come out to 76 episodes (counting OVA's for Shana and the ViVid Strike spin-off for Nanoha) in total. Anything longer than that is pretty much a no-go for me unless I watch it as it airs.

To this day, I still think I would have enjoyed Bleach if I had been watching it from the very beginning, but it's so long that I would never attempt to watch it now.

I don't know how long Bleach actually went on for, but I think chopping out all it's filler would probably REALLY cut that episode list down.

I feel like the more time passes, the more Gurren Lagaan just cements itself as probably my favorite anime of all time. At the time, I was pretty obsessed with it and hyped by it but I didn't watch much anime at the time, so I held my judgment. But I feel like the more I watch, none of them live up to Gurren Lagaan for me

symphogear isn't really mecha at all tbh it's more like tokusatsu (think like kamen rider or power rangers or whatever). probably why it doesn't feel too weird having it get that gridman crossover

Hibiki, Shirabe, and Chris definitely have a mecha-ish feel to their symphogears though, because they actually have moving mechanical parts as part of their weapons and outfits. Hibiki's gauntlet can do a Big O style piston punch or turn into a drill, Shirabe has her sawblades that she can shoot as projectiles plus she can transform herself into a sawblade, and Chris is obviously just a straight-up Heavyarms Gundam gijinka.

The ones that the other three wear just seem more like battle outfits that go with their weapons, so I agree that they don't really feel mecha-ish.

Idk sometimes I feel there's a vast difference between our tastes, between what you all watch and what I do, but I like these threads anyway. Engaging with others and their interests is better than existing in an echo chamber.

I guess I see what you mean but I think there's a lot more to mecha than just having a few mechanical parts in your weapons or having fancy plastic spikes on your shoulders or whatever

not that I'm a mecha expert or anythng but I was under the impression the genre is only like half about the mechs anyway
