So does this "you are blameless" policy only work if you don't know the husband? I can't imagine fucking your friend's girlfriend/wife and then being like "yo, it's her fault bro, btw drinks tonight?", lol.

I'd hope so. I'm in the camp where I don't see a problem with it if you didn't force the issue and you don't know the guy (though saying the woman would just find someone else to cheat with is dumbing things down), but if he's your friend yeah that's pretty pitiful.

I don't know if "most people" cheat, but a large enough percentage do that I'd say it's quite common.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/living-single/201010/how-often-do-people-really-cheat-each-other

The number of ever-married men who admit to having cheated on their spouse is nearly 50%.

Not sure how much stock you want to put in that statistic, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were actually higher (since infidelity is one of those questions people are likely to lie about, even under anonymity). And that would mean it really could be "most people" who cheat. I've had a few candid conversations like this with friends (bar talk), and once the first brave soul admits "yea I've cheated", in come the flurry of others who do the same. I don't think it's something the average person's proud of; maybe the reassurance of its commonality helps assuage them of the guilt, I dunno.

There are also degrees of infidelity, obviously. Actively pursuing and fucking a married person is a much more flagrant example of it than making out with some stranger at a rock concert, which in turn is a more flagrant example than flirting with a stranger without ever touching them - but I'd argue even the last one is a violation of a partner's trust if they're not cool with it.

If you read the full article, the 50% thing isnt a statistic. Its a true false question, and the answer is false with self reporting being at around 20 to 25%.

What I shared with my friend:

She literally saw I was sitting by myself at a bar and was like "why don't you come sit over here with me and my mom?" And about 10 minutes in her mom leaves.

So whatever I don't think much of it and then she spends the next two hours basically verbally undressing me

"You're really shy and bashful aren't you?" "Why do I make you so nervous?" "You've been hurt by women in your previous relationships?" Etc

But she doesn't say much about herself the whole time and I'm thinking the whole time something is up.

She finally goes "you know how you can tell how I'm feeling? Look at my mouth." And she's kind biting down on her thumb and goes "what do you think this means?" And I start stammering and she goes "really? Alright." So finally I go "well I'm afraid to ask, because I think I know the answer, but where is your kid's dad?" And she responds "I'm married"

She starts talking about how he doesn't feel anything for him, how they came to this exact same bar a week ago and no one in the bar even thought they were together

We finish our drinks and she says she's cold and wants to go outside so we sit outside and just listen to the drunk people when suddenly she pulls me in and starts kissing me. And we're making out outside the bar where she just explained the owner's son is best friends with her husband and he can literally see us. Eventually she goes "you should bring your bike over to my car, and I'll give you a ride." So its about 2:30 am at this point and I walk my bike over to her car a block away, and we start kissing again and I realize why she wants to give me a ride when she says he's gone this weekend with the kids, but I agree to the ride home and sure enough we end up at her place instead of mine and I make no objections.

Come into her place and there's not much talking. She said she loves kissing more than anything and we keep making out where I was actually complimented for the first time about that in my life. I always thought I was average or nothing special because I never got complemented.

After we did the deeds she hugs me and goes "so what did you learn tonight" "I don't know" "OMG I've failed as a teacher" so she leans in again and says "no, seriously what did you learn tonight?" And I lean in and kiss her and go "to go after what I want" and she responds "do you want me?" And the only smart ass answer I have is "should I?" So she smiles and hugs me and says "I hope you text me" and we part ways

Theres also a difference between cheating when youre in a healthy relationship vs when you arent. A lot of cheaters likely had significant issues prior to cheating and it wasnt the first problem in the relationship. Divorce rates are higher than cheating rates which says something.

I mean if youre in a good relationship and you cheat anyway, youre practically a sociopath.

The #1 reason people cheat is feeling underappreciated and/or unloved. It's rarely a physical thing, despite what movies would have you think.

Well, ExTha and I could be wrong, but generally when someone is sharing news like this, they're either feeling guilty and seeking understanding or feeling excited and seeking congratulation. I presume for you that it's likely the former, and again, I could be wrong.

Also, general question here - if all Rock would have done was kiss her and then leave due to his guilt, would you still consider that cheating from her perspective? What if Rock had left before her obvious advances had gotten physical at all - would she still be a cheater?

Definitely good mileage but I know next to nothing about Scions. That seems well under KBB, too. For example this year I sold a 2011 Malibu with 130000 for $5400 and a 2011 Cruze with 87k for $6100 and both those were $400 below my asking price.

I think in normal circumstances this scenario of banging a married chick would be 85/15 not your fault or something to feel guilty about.

but the way you just wishy washy went along with everything without protesting or even considering your own ideas means you should def feel shitty about what you've done. Not because you ruined this guys marriage, but because if this is the way you handle life, you're probably going to end up ruining a lot of other stuff

People have to process the things they experience. I'm glad I'm (and the rest of the board is) a part of that for you, Rock.

You just had a weird experience. You got a glimpse into another person's darker urges, insecurity, weirdness, and desire to role-play her script. She may have been (and probably was) lying about the situation and any number of other things, so don't think about it too much. That probably wasn't her mother, this definitely wasn't the first time she's done this, and her actual relationship situation could be any number of things.

Some people go to the internet to lie, and some people go to the bar. It can be exciting to escape your normal reality.

The weirdest part is that we can do any of this at any time. Go somewhere else, pretend to be someone else, behave a different way, claim to be the inventor of angry birds and just roll with it

If someone's that far out the door their relationship is already dead. I personally break up with someone long before it gets anywhere near that point, but some dumbasses are too afraid of being single to actually sever the tie until much later.

To me it's more important that someone loves me than whether they are physically faithful. Does it honestly feel much better if your s.o. goes to the bar every weekend to pick up a stranger, and happens to fail this time?

As long as you can accept your own emotional reactions I would say make as many poor decisions as you want. I personally would not advise helping her out with any favors or trying to take the interaction anywhere outside of the script- unless you have a burning desire to work something strange out of yourself. Understand you're being used as a prop, and I say this without positive or negative connotations- sometimes people need props. Proceed at your own desire for self-harm, because your needs will not be looked out for by anyone but you

The people infantilizing her and saying you need to be the adult in the situation don't know what they're talking about
