I also have a high-speed and wired connection, but still experienced significant lag online. I liked 2 because it was semi-open world (small maps but still had freedom of movement) and there were interesting ways to interact with the world. 3 is really poorly optimized, AND they took the story focus from the original game and slapped it into a town that's way too big, which means you wind up spending a lot of time running around from place to place engaging in pointless dialogue with little to no action / entertainment.
