No one is impressed at how little you understand nuance and context.

Yes.

Also why am I not shocked this somehow deflected into "Hey let's critique Islam".

Sure, we can go with your equivalent. It still makes my point.

What is your point? That overt discrimination against Muslims is less tolerated than overt discrimination against Christians? I agree with that personally, but it's also meaningful that you can't think of an actual analogy here because that's what sets the tone of the responses.

The fact that Islam is a minority religion that largely just gets dumped on in minute and everyday ways has real world implications for how people respond to you dumping on the religion.

For instance, one thing you see a lot more of for Muslims than Christians is that people get mad and protest them for wanting to open up a house of worship. You see a lot of states passing laws trying to outlaw 'muslim courts.'

It is the same way that you can shit on white people on twitter and no one cares but if you call black people names you get censored. But at the same time being black is worse than being white in many ways due to other forms of covert and overt discrimination in the institutions that govern our laws. So would you act like it's better to be black because you can say that white people can't cook or w/e on twitter?

So idk what I'm supposed to take away from this conversation.

The problem is the context is subjective. Bitch enough about it, and the context itself no longer matters. "A public official should know better!"

Prime example being that pro-Obama commentator who still got canned for saying "cotton pickin' " despite it being an incredibly common southern phrase.

Because people from the North had never heard it and didn't give two shits about context.

so...words arent just words then? Thank you! Minorites and women have been trying to get this point across for generations!

So are you admitting that Islam gets special protections compared to other religions with regard to making fun of it? Because to get your little "gotcha" here you actually need to acknowledge the point I was making first.

What do you feel is an equivalent for Islam that she said here?

Do you believe Islam does or does not get special protection compared to Christianity when it comes to being able to make fun of it publicly?

I asked you first. What's the equivalent joke?

that cartoon made by that guy in arab, who kinds got executed for making that.

wait that's not equivalent, that artist didnt even get angry twitter comments before

So you again can't come up with an equivalent without something pertaining to Muslims being violent?

executing someone is not violent? Do you hit your head somewhere little buddy

it's quite simple. These sorts of people argue that inequality on things that actually matter (criminal justice, economics, politics etc.) are just things that are made to be accepted and navigated through, while at the same time, demanding equality be enforced socially. Its maddening

No context is not subjective in that case. If its intended to be offensive its intended to be offensive. What is subjective is how you choose to react to it. But spare me all this man people call fried chicken racist now what a world! Nonsense.

If a racist neighbor started yelling shit about fried chicken in anger to another neighbor then contextually, thats offensive. Theyre attempting to be hurtful. Subjectively you can choose to be upset about it or not but its not the fried chicken that someone is choosing to be upset about. Its the racism.

That example is obvious. What isn't obvious is that cop who put a load of trash in a tree, one of which was a chicken bucket, and he was immediately fired.

Being from the south, it seemed like a blatant diss on "trailer trash" rednecks.

That's an example of subjective context.

That wasn't context-less either. An officer shouldn't be displaying such outward bias against people in the community that he's supposed to be working.

Except there's a difference between people genuinely being offended about something (or even defending people who they genuinely think are offended, even if they are wrong) and pretending to be offended about something because "those are the rules I guess".

This is the same dumb **** you played with the Kavanaugh hearing where you pretended like it was fair play for Republicans to hypothetically make up rape allegations to derail a confirmation hearing in the future because Democrats had the gall to believe someone's rape allegations.

Err no they were pointing out that inventing rape allegations would become common if the confirmation hearing was delayed 6 months on an accusation that literally had no proof. Especially when the star witness tried to intentionally delay testifying and had several outrageous demands which included not flying in to testify and no female investigator allowed to question her or demanding the accused to testify first so that the accused cannot defend themselves from the accuser.
