Registered user votes count double. That's specifically for users who register before the first battle of the contest on October 19. While off-site rallies for certain characters can definitely happen, this gives GameFAQs users a slightly bigger say in the outcome.

Here's the "optimal" way to enter into losers, as someone who's run double elimination tournaments before:

First round and semifinals are still top to bottom; only the second round changes.

Losers of 133 and 134 -> 139 and 140 in either order
Losers of 135 and 136 -> 137 and 138 in either order

Of course, this has the drawback of the losers of 135/136 immediately having to play again the next day, assuming 2 matches per day.

Oh, and bwburke, since I know you're reading this, a shifted L bracket is an impossibility because of 2 matches per day.

i noticed changing any match will deselect all of my picks down the line. can you change it so this doesn't happen? it's super annoying, especially with the double elimination format forcing a dozen or more picks to be redone every single time.

Due to the size and complexity of the bracket (especially the double elimination portion), changing the winner of an earlier battle will undo your picks from all later battles. It's easiest to fill out one division at a time, left to right, top to bottom

This seems like a failsafe to ensure impossible brackets don't glitch through.

There's some characters I think will benefit from the registered users thing more than others. I have a feeling Kefka is one of those characters that could boost with it, so I'm biting on Kefka > Sora.

I have to wonder how much our votes counting for double will matter when vote totals are as pathetic as they currently are. Id be surprised if we made up 25-30k votes even doubled these days

I can't believe that's the reasoning given that the other 8 were in the logo before nominations even went up.

My guess is that of the 9, he's the only villain, and the only one to double up in another's game.

Depends on what percentage of the unique voters consist of registered users. If less than 50% of the unique voters came from registered users, it would still be a long shot to surpass 25000 votes once the registered user votes are doubled. And this is after considering that we'll see improved vote totals in a contest setting when compared to regular polls.

Im surprised Kirby is only a 2-seed. I dunno where he ranks outside the N9, but I thought he was sorta close to them like Squall? Honestly Im pretty amazed Geralt and 2B got 1-seeds too. Kinda makes me wonder how many nominations were even sent in

Also, poor Jak. He had that match with Draven and Chie won, but the rally happened. Now he's not even in this contest. The poor guy can't catch a break.

In my opinion registered votes counting as two votes is not nearly enough to stop rallies except for small ones. Multiplying the registered votes by three or four would be considerably more effective. Any chance you can do a last minute change on that?

What he could do is not count the 2nd vote for registered users until after the poll has closed.

Imagine a poll where Character A is winning by 500 votes at poll close because of rallies. Then the registered votes are added in and suddenly Character B wins by 50 votes.

It blunts the efforts of rallies to completely override the will of the GameFAQs users.

I take it back. Multiplying votes by registered voters by three or four would be a terrible idea on all the non-rallied matches. But I DO like the idea of having your second vote not counted until after voting is finished....

I am so happy with this format. Double-elimination is a fantastic idea; the bonus battles from a few years back were awesome because they let eliminated high-strength characters get into some great fights, and this is really similar except they actually count for something within the bracket, which is great.

And it's a 1v1 torunament instead of 3 or 4 per match! YES!

Great bracket.

(I will say that I agree with others that it would be nice if rematches could be avoided, but I like so much else about the bracket that I'm very happy overall).

i've never used them before and i've had no issues
