I feel like Aqua/Ellie is a duel of which game had the last trailer though. I believe in KH3 hype more though. Think Guile takes the other match straight-up but at least has the meme factor of his theme as a last resort.

See, I feel like this is a fourpack where the most well known character can win simply by virtue of being the most well known, in addition to his meme factor.

I'm not really sure what to think of Guile overall though. I think he'll be the weakest SF character we've seen so far (other than Dan), but he'll probably still be on the high end of the fodder chain. I don't really know what to think of Aqua at all because I'm not sure what Birth by Sleep's playrate would be like, even with the HD Remixes.

It's Aqua vs. Guile. Ellie and Richter aren't going to be worth anything. I took Aqua because I doubt GameFAQs cares about SF characters who aren't Ryu/Chun-Li. Then again Aqua is going to be weak too, Roxas is her ceiling and Roxas isn't super amazing.

The last 4-pack was a lot stronger.

Chun-Li hasn't proven to be any stronger than Ken, Bison, or Akuma, but they're all not fodder, if nothing else. I think everyone knows the SF2 characters, and that might be enough.

Seriously though, I wouldn't sleep on Aqua. I think she has a shot at being the 2nd or 3rd strongest character from KH. I mean, the drop off after Sora is huge so that may not be saying too much but y'know.

I can humor any of the 4 winning this one. I kinda think whoever wins the second match could very well win the four pack by Pac-Man factor default.

But then I could actually see Aqua being stronger than Roxas. Better design and a bigger deal in her game, really. But "her game" is a PSP game. Then again she's in the 2.5 HD Remix or whatever.

I'll take Richter > Aqua out of favoritism but it's probably Aqua > Guile

Aqua is liked but the plain fact of the matter is that much less people have played her game than KH2, which Roxas played a prominent (if short-lived). And while Aqua was one of the protagonists of her game, Roxas was the protagonist of his own game, so....

And yeah she's never beating Riku. He'll always be the KH #2.

Even the weaker KH characters can generally do something worth a damn (remember Frog vs. Axel?), so Ellie probably isn't winning here.

There are definitely some potential newcomers that Richter has the power to beat, but Guile isn't one of them.

I think meme wins it for Guile.

BBS is more popular among the KH fanbase but I don't know that it was more played by GameFAQs as a whole, at least before the HD Remixes, because of it being on PSP.

but 358/2 Days did win 2009 DS Game of the Year, even over Pokemon Platinum and a ZELDA game (okay it's Spirit Tracks but still)...!

BBS was more popular because it was a better game. 358/2 Days had gameplay problems. The story was pretty good though and it expanded a lot on Roxas' character though, so it did help him (and the polls reflect that) although the majority of his strength still comes from KH2.

If pre-game material/hype means anything though Aqua has to be the main beneficiary. Of course, if you think it doesn't mean much anymore then I totally get where you're coming from.

It's hard to tell how much hype means anymore when we get contests so infrequently. Big releases have a tendency to come and go without us ever getting to see their real impact. We didn't have a Character Battle during SSB4's lifetime until now, for instance.

I actually own and have played a bit of 358/2 days and forgot it existed whereas I remember bbs pretty clearly so "popular because it was the better game" makes sense to me I guess.

Part of me thinks "but Guile is kinda a nobody to people who haven't lived through the 90's" but then I remember it's GameFAQs so who cares. And the memes make that not 100% true anyway?

My instinct is to say that the dropoff from KH/KH2 characters to characters that only appear in other KH games is going to be pretty enormous.
