I just had the most satisfying game against Hadronox Druid.

He was four mana crystals ahead of me and dropped Oakheart which pulled stuff including a Dragoncaller, which pulled a Ysera.

I coined Psychic Scream.

He started chipping away at me with minions and gets me down to 4. I finish my quest and Amara+Zola back up to 40.

He finally draws Hadronox/Naturalize for a full board.

I psychic scream.

He witching hour/naturalizes for another full board.

I psychic scream.

At this point between all of my extra draws (twilight calling loot hoarders and thalnos) and him naturalizing me I am down to like 3 cards to his 25. So I Benedictus.

He witching hour/cubes for ANOTHER full board.

I psychic scream.

All druid needs to do is run smaller taunts.

Yeah getting a board full of sleeping dragons is nice, but you know what else is nice? Getting 6 or 7 free taunts regardless of size and getting them multiple times via cube and witching hour.

Take out a few 9 drops and run saronite and other 4-6 cost taunts. You might lose the mirror a bit more than 50% of the time but you will put aggressive decks into the dumpster.

Running smaller taunts defeats the point. Youre supposed to survive early game with Spellstone+Oaken Simmons.

Personally I run two Tar Creeper+Ironwood Golem. Makes Oaken Summons very consistent and creeper is just big enough to stand in the taunt line and be reasonable.

OTKing a Warrior at 54 life+armor when they have four taunts in play and your own board is empty is absolute bullshit, but I made 220 gold just now for doing it so I feel pretty damn great.

You ramp up really quickly as Druid anyway with Wild Growth and Nourish, And you need the big taunts to win the Mirror matchup and control matches which are more common in this meta

I just had a pretty satisfying win against odd paladin. I'd used both explosive traps and freezing traps, and the clear from DK Rexxar's battlecry. He built up another board and I was able to stall exactly long enough to play Deathwing on turn 10, right after he played Stormwind Champion. That killed my Kathrena, which summoned Swamp King Dred from its deathrattle. So I have 21 on board which is exactly lethal. My opponent makes two dudes and plays the taunt maul, and I topdeck grievious bite ftw.

I finally beat a shaman with control priest

He used hemet on curve (at this time he only had chain gang and life drinker in his pool). I screamed like 7 minions into his deck after and popped anduin soon after. Eventually he plays shudderwock (without grumble). Because like hes dead if he doesnt. And gets to one hp over my max damage so Im forced to scream 5 shudderwocks (and one of my minions) into his deck, basically giving him 5 shudderwocks as outs. Life drinker and hagatha give him a turn.

He bricked. Good riddance. If he didnt play hemet he actually would have won because hemet kills healing rain which is what actually wins the matchup for the shaman a lot of times.

Playing wild, I just had a priest do Barnes -> Y'Shaarj -> Y'Shaarj...and I absolutely obliterated them.

Devolve -> Hex -> 2/2, 0/1 frog, and 4/4 on board, and then I recovered from there.

Some ladder updates

Paladin has Suddenly become a decent deck again after some tech choices (mainly boisterous bard and void ripper) because rogue is everywhere. You still lose a lot of matchups but around half of my games are odd rogues

Going through yesterdays HGG vod and I got to the 4th match of New Zealand vs Portugal. Shudderwock vs Control Mage.

Control Mage bottom 2 cards were DK and Alanna. Which is terribly terribly unlucky.

But I think even WORSE than that was the ridiculous outcomes from the shudderwock batlecry orders.

Complete whiff. But he had a 1 mana zola in hand so he was able to return a 9 mana shudderwock back to hand. (now 2 zola battlecries in list)

And then the sick thing that happens next is the fact that hagatha is consistently, CONSISTENTLY giving them terrible cards clogging up the hand. Things like crushing hand that would overload you for a shudder turn or just expensive cards with no targets like hex.

They went on to make a misplay a few turns into fatigue after mage made played Alanna where they could have cleared and didn't, but that seems wholly beside the point, but the fact is I don't think I've ever seen so many ineffectual shudderwock's in a single game. There were between 9-13 battlecrys on each of the shudderwocks and grumble landed first or second on each one, and ALL of the Grumble/Zola's landed before BOTH of the saronite's 3 out of 4 times. I'm not sure what the math on that is exactly, but it's pretty freaking awful. Like just Grumble luck alone is a 67% chance to succeed each time, and grumble failed all 4x. Throw in the extra chance from 1/2/2/2 zola's on each one and I'm not sure what you get except screwed.

I forgot to mention this the other day. So I was facing a warlock and he plays summoning portal and then immediately baleful bankers the summoning portal twice. I'm like "uhhhhmm, ok...wtf is about to happen here?" Then next turn he takes advantage of summoning portal to fill his board with phantom militia. Oh snap, that's kinda funny. I kill off about four of them, then he pandas one phantom militia and refills the board again. I'm like holy shit. Then next turn he pandas again and fills the board again.

I won the game, but it was pretty funny and I was surprised I hadn't seen that before.

There is a difference between playing shudderwock on ladder though, and using it as your shaman deck in a high level tournament. Every country must submit a deck for all 9 classes.

Like what were the countries supposed to do, not take a deck that punishes greedy control decks?
